Folding the screen, hiding bar underneath, making base longer, and the fringe idea are great. For a t.v.special a projector screen could be used to quickly show underneath using a video camera.Personally I like to use the BLANEY type hoop. The knockoffs are around $500.A instant camera could be used for birthday kids. The see thru blackground with rear lights does not create distance in that well lit close up area.I use the KLAMM background with a slight U shaped curve.

Before & after the show, Add a plastic cardboard rectangle or circle top to cover both carpet and tube b4 adding cloth. That way no one questions what's sticking out the back, and can't feel it. Nice ideas, . Extra Hole pattern already allows offset on base, and Jim Sommers book suggests how to make screen fold flat, and how to do it surrounded if needed using cloth

Some good ideas here. I'm kind of partial to the gimmick being set off the corner of the seat rather than dead center. When the gimmick is placed in the corner the revolving action takes on a whole new level of coolness.

Jack Gwynne the originator used two screen supports and the gimmick at 45 degrees from one corner.. Much better effect.

Nice Mods! it will be a lifesaver to many performers who are right on top of the kids.

Just purchased this, used it last weekend and yes the kids looked up and under and I cringed!! The swords fell away, the seated part moved when I lifted the child on, everything you have covered. I was goimng to make the modifications but did not want to ruin a brand new prop I just invested in, however what you have shown me makes alot of sense and I shall follow through.
One thing i wont do immediately is prevent the seat from roatating, i feel this adds to the drama of the illusion but will bear it in mind. many thanks.

Get rid of swords, they're lame and not allowed in schools, and don't block the audience view, instead add a 2, 3 step folding step stool that looks like it's part of the support until you take it away , that will help so it doesn't move as much when getting on, off.. add black cloth underneath if you don't want to add the board

Firstly I'm really grateful for your contribution. What is hard for me is that I had a dad google this during the show and come over to show me. It hurts magic having this titled as it is. Can you please consider renaming it? It's posted in the magi group which is a better place for it. Hope you can receive this message as it was intended with respect and kindness. Thank you.

Perhaps calling it Princess illusion as those who know will search it by it's true name.

Hi there! No offense taken/thanks for your thoughts! Yes I realize it’s controversial to put this out there where anyone can see it. My thoughts on this are
      1. If it’s out there to the public more magicians than anyone will watch this video. And one magician performing this illusion the way it was built (without these modifications) is in and of itself revealing the secret to the audience. Most laymen will not really even know what I’m talking about watching this video and will not continue watching. There’s too many other things to watch out there on the web.
(“Look squirrel”) I want as many magicians to see it as possible so that they don’t perform it “right out of the box” and reveal it in person and if that means a small number of laymen also watch it then I think it’s an acceptable loss. Laymen forget what they learned about magic on TH-cam anyway, the masked magician revealed every illusion that’s ever been made but no one can remember any of it.
      2. Your situation (personal experience) is different but people can find the answers to just about anything on the Internet if they look long enough. This illusion is really not a “fooler” in the first place, I think any adult (and some kids) knows there is a support bar there.
      3. I will see if I can take your advice and change the name to its proper name. But realistically that dad is only going to do a search for whatever you tell them it’s called. If you tell them the illusion is called “The Flying Carpet” they will likely find it even if I rename it “Princess Flying Carpet” simply because you told them the name had “flying carpet” in it. I could give you some name suggestions here, but if I do that it’ll start to show up in searches. So be creative and if you really want people not to be able to find it online, then refer to it as something no one is ever heard of. I had the same issue performing “Tiny Plunger” by Jon Armstrong and people would Google it right there at the table and show me the video. I started calling it a “Baby Bathroom Accessory” and it never happened again.
Feel free to comment or share further thoughts. As a general rule I don’t post secrets publicly, but I think this one does more good than harm because of the fact very few people even know what I’m talking about and/or have the patience to sit through and watch the entire video. Your situation is rare (I think anyway) and can be averted by following my advice above.

@@keirmathur8623 thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful reply. I understand your perspective. I too do not share secrets and find it difficult when I see beautiful effects given away freely to the public.
I never actually give a name to this presentation it was just the fact that there was a carpet and the image of a child flying that got him to your tutorial. Perhaps naming it Princess levitation illusion would suffice?
Coming out of a miserable 2 years just wanting to spread some magic again without being flashed with phones "look here's how it's done".
As for the modus operandi, I've never had it revealed due to a clever setup behind and to the side of me it's just this video..
Thank you for your consideration and time wishing you well.

For any spinning, never touch the illusion, take the person by the hand and walk around... Or have them hold the broom tight and spin them slowly by it so you don't knock them off... Keeping their hands full, like the cards or feathers prevents feeling behind them etc. You can add a Ushaped piece to the back bar that prevents spinning until your ready , make that part of a cloth you remove.
Cover the bottom with black ripstop cloth to hide if you don't want extra board

Per below, never call a trick by it's name in your act, call it Aladdin's Dream , as long as you don't say princess, flying, carpet, suspension, floating etc you'll less likely have some muggle Google it

Some magicians use a fine wire to pull the rotating lazy susan by a motor.
