I spoke with a friend of mine in the industry about the packaging issue and apparently the only issue Hasbro had with the packaging was the MASK helmet logo otherwise they didn’t have any issue, and he has spoken to Ramen and was surprised that they changed the packaging completely when it was only an issue with the MASK Helmet logo. Hasbro actually work closely with a lot of companies and are approachable regarding these matters. Takara is a different ball game though
Wow that's great, I just looked at the new packaging and you are right they changed the mask helmet logo plus a few other things, but it is otherwise very close . They also removed the tampo logos and replace with stickers for some reason
During the conversation we also spoke about Hasbro and Takara and 3P transformers, he took FT Grinder into a meeting with Hasbro and had it next to MP Grimlock, he asked Hasbro which product was theirs and they picked out Grinder not their own MP. When asked if they cared they said nope because they said it brings Hasbro exposure through the transformers brand, and because 3P is small in comparison to Hasbro and all their brands, so they see 3P as a small fish that isn’t really impacting their business, and being China based they aren’t in a position to really do anything about it. Takara on the other hand is a different ball game, and they do see 3P as a threat.
I was a big M.A.S.K. fan as a kid and this pulled enough nostalgia strings that I ordered the second version of this and the Shark form Ramen when I saw their Power Con sale over the weekend.

I really would've loved to get into this line but the price is just too high. If they could've come down to $100-125 I could've justified it but not that much.
I was excited about these, but the centurion figures they did were such a disappointment of QC issues and bad design choices, I'm nervous about investing in more of their products. What scale is this?
Just got mine in. don't like the new box, red and black. cheap boring like GI Joe hiss tank. But the toy is quite beautiful. nice straight tight. Back end/bumper mechanism a little weak. Not sure if it's worth the price. But I get it. And the figure seems quite small compared to the vehicle...hmm. The dark Gray silver paint on the bottom is beautiful?
I love this figure. So far my favorite fig of the year! Can't wait for the Shark/Great White. Since Kenner never produced one, can Hasbro C&D them on that vehicle? Fingers crossed that they can't!
Was sort of tempted by this but... and I know this is probably blasphemy to say, i never liked the design of Thunderhawk as a kid, it always felt incredibly lazy. ON most of the other vehicles in the line there was an attempt to shift things around, make them look less like their base mode. ON this, the... doors open? woopy do, and the back goes up a little bit. This is for the leaders vehicle and when you compare it to what switchblade did, it rather pales IMHO :) At least the wheels should have shifted up on the original toy or something. Same with Rhino where again for a vehicle that was always in the show, the smoke stacks went down, the back moved out a bit and a missile fired out the top. I guess I was spoiled by Transformers and expected much more :)
It's simple considering the other toys in the series. Take Condor for example, only a couple of steps to transform it but man that thing looks different once it's changed. Ah I really hope they do a Condor that I would buy. I@m also a fan of Manta which they are doing, again more things flip out and move around. Plus Manta had an ejector seat. Great white is on preorder :)@@TMReviews
Out of curiosity I looked it up and 1,077 MPH would be less than Mach 1.5, so not an unreasonable speed for a jet. I can't help but think how much power it must have to go that fast with a car design instead of a jet design, and how much faster the same power would be in an aerodynamic jet shape. I'm disappointed the comic didn't have a tease for a second product in the line.
3rd party M.A.S.K. toys let's goooo. We're rapidly moving towards an age of leaving official companies behind and I'm all for it. We just need a 3rd party company to make a hooded Cobra Commander and Hasbro will be dead in the water.
You mean they have been shipping the first run in plain packaging different than this already? That would be cool. I’d like to know how many they shipped in the retro packaging if they did stop. I think it’s a good homage figure… I mean next to third party transformers it isn’t as exciting but I did love M.A.S.K. as a boy. The Ramen ‘bag of bones’ fossil MOTU figure carrier is insanely cool, and I’m all over that when it’s available.

Yeah I can't speak to v2, I heard it's a little less fancy of a box and uses stickers which are not my preference, but ramen makes a good product.
