@@mrgoky5733 be overly aggressive with the m1s, wolf got one of the best dashes but sad people tend to only use it to be passive instead of just not letting their opponent breathe with the pressure.

One thing that discourages me when playing Slugger is the lack of Speed, when comparing the Great Takamura in the manga or anime, he is a very strong, fast boxer and so on, but his style in the game basically comes down to brute strength being easy target of fast styles or with good Counter damage, making it easy to beat him, something that the Slugger style could have is a Mode Switch (similar to the Freedom style) making Slugger's strikes faster, balancing strength and speed *(Note: I am using Takamura's fight against Hawk as a reference because there we see what The Great Takamura can do)*

Slugger is basically Takamura's old fighting style before introduced to boxing.
Takamura in the anime is basically ghost and slugger hybrid.
The rework i kinda wanna see on Slugger is having a two-type fighting style, because in Hajime no Ippo, we can see that Takamura uses different fighting poses, like when he fought Eagle, he had a normal fighting stance, and during his fight with Hawk, thats when his style became more faster and more harmful to Hawk. Thats just my concept for a Slugger rework
The reason that takamura used different styles mid fight was because it was more of Takamura being able to adapt and learn quickly on his opponents fighting style. A more focused orthodox style for takamura would be boring imo since there are other styles that do that well enough, and freedom also already has mode switching.
theres a reason the style is called Slugger and not Takamura. The style is based on Takamura's Brawling mode which as the game potrayed, its very slow, very telegraphed but has hard hitting punches. If Drowning were to add actual Takamura style, you can say goodbye to this game meta as the style would have max stats on everything.

Just like Hawk, Violence, is Takamura's real style. You can literally see the similarities if you watched the show. Both of their coaches encountered them while beating someone.
Taka in Takamura means Hawk.
However, Kamogawa trained Takamura with the basics whilst Miguel ( Hawks' Coach ) just let Hawks polish his Violence.

It's so funny that charge vs wolf fights are 50/50 depending on the skill level of the users. Wolf can abuse charge stamps with op m1 speed and charge can stampede if wolf spams m2.
Slugger is really badass.The stance genuinely looks menacing and the dmg is too good.And dashes arent even that bad .His forward dash is really good

Most players get confuse with the m2 whether the slugger user is holding it down or just clicking it
If they add an ability for slugger it should be his rage moment where everything is x2 for m1 and m2 speed, damage, block, dash, for like 5-10 seconds
that would actually work but there would be a debuff during the mode to balance things out for example he could take 2x or 1.5x dmg in mode just a thought though

For me the slugger lacks in speed but the best technique in using slugger is not to rush your opponent rushing your opponent is the worst thing to do in slugger because it is possible for your enemy to punch you off gaurd and u cant escape him because of your weak dash that also uses alot of stamina. if you get damage alot more than your opponent and if you have a chance to punch him like he missed his m2 or heavy your slugger style can utilize its m1 or light to catch up to your opponent
I'm actually main Slugger. Idk why exactly, but I just prefer big damage rather than fast speed.

It's mainly the front and back dashes that are good so close the distance with front dash from really far and land an m1 and then feint easy strat you can repeat
Ngl ive been a slugger main for quite a few months now and its truly weird how i havent encountered other slugger users, maybe 5 times every 30 matches i do but it varies tbh
I’ll give you a tip you can catch those people who constantly backdash after they only threw a few hits with a heavy if you time it right and know when they do it since it’s usually a pattern. I land atleast 5 to 7 or more of those heavies each round, they get caught by the m2 while back dashing and it works 70% of the time the other 30% is if they start to not backdash and just do a regular dash infront of you instead after they throw the few punches first. Like that wolf user in a dinosaur suit which is who I am using as an example.
you just need insanely good reaction time, good keyboard and good ping then youre god at this game with slugger. thats why i main slugger but i just focus on getting hawk because i never had him
You can’t perfect dodge slugger’s m2 charge anymore :(
The main problem with slugger is the gimmick itself. The uncharged m2 for slugger is nearly identical to wolf's in terms of damage and you're never landing an charged m2 without stun (cause backdash, the range on the m2 is horrible, and being stuck in place while charging).
The special ability for slugger should be called brawlers delight it reduces damage by 30% and ignores stun

Name: High speed hell
An ability that drastically increases sidestep speed that has a 25% dodge rate and lasts for 6 secs
It sacrifices 30% dmg to increase speed
Cooldown: 20 secs

I think slugger is solid but needs a slight buff. Like buff either the bad block making it so you always have to eat some m1s to avoid a blockbreak, the m2s biggest weakness literally being the S key on your keyboard and his dashes making it so some attacks have to be dodged with prediction instead of reaction (I don’t mean ghost jab).
His m1s are good but that can’t mean sh if you can’t land an m1 since 1. Feinting into an m1 eats like half your stamina 2. M2’s range is dog sh and will literally sometimes touch their face and 3. Goofy ahh big swing m1. The telegraphing on it is insane 💀
Just buff one of the following: his block, dashes or the range on his m2. Sluggers getting eaten alive by styles that have decently good damage and block damage 😭

I main slugger and I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I think there should be a stamina rework so you don't run out of stamina from 2 dashes. Overall it's a good style. My favorite.
Quick tip if anyone can pull off if any player goes aggressive but your using slugger you can use your m2 when you back dash any aggressive player likes to dash at you so using your charging m2 I think it will connect every time
tbh I hope there's a slugger rework soon, it's one of my top 5 styles but right now it's just not fun to play against the meta/really fast styles that easily outmaneuver and counter everything it does.
Honestly, I liked the ''before-rollback'' game, it felt like you needed more skill to play, now the game feels kinda slow
The only problem I felt like it had was the amount of invencibility frames dashes had, but still
nah fr game before rollback was actually fun, now with drowning making all these changes i find it a painful experience to play
What I found you can do is charge your m2 from a distance and people will dash into like idiots. Also you can kite with your m2s a lot
Slugger despite the damage, it has too much downside to it, it is not for everyone, especially those who face high pings, its oneof the styles that is only good if you have good stuff, so ye it deserves a buff, same as hawk
Never forget, The anime character slugger is based on is also a ghost user. He can do fast lefts like ghost

Slugger m1s are literally insane, i used it again and it's very strong but the problem is it can be defeated by faster styles especially hands low and hitman
i think slugger just barely gets balance changes bc if it gets a buff it will be too op or if it gets a nerf it will be kinda trash
slugger should get a weight cut ability that makes it faster at the cost of the damage and health

Slugger isn't "forgotten",its just hard to use so not a-lot of people are willing to pick it up
Slugger is usable, but it’s very hard to work with considering how easy it is for people to avoid the m2 now and it’s been getting shadow nerfed And yes, well sometimes the m1 do have a good range. It’s very inconsistent.

As a slugger main i have to say it.
For some resson it fells like basic in dmg
Like it has a 40% dmg ult that makes sure you will die at 3. Round if opponet have same skill as you
Also even tough it deals a good dmg in M2 and M1 it mostly end up getting out damaged cuse of speed
And opponet ends up hitting more and your dmg only helps to make HP even

Sometimes I risk going for the m2 knowing I'll run out if stamina knowing that the m2 is impossible to perfect dodge it's definitely worth that juicy damage.
Tbh, I also notice that slugger front dash have quite of a good travel range and speed. Quite good for surprise attack.

I didn't know that the longer you hold m2, the higher the damage of slugger, but it's very slow and can get countered

you can use your charge m2 in perfect doge, Perfect Doge stun time is the same as the charged m2 so you can do more damage
i main slugger and i'm having an absolute blast with it , even though some people call me a M2 spammer even though all i do is M2 after a punch combo to mixup targets, but hey, skill issue is a skill issue i guess?

I usually main slugger cuz of m2 charge and dmg but i didnt know that u can just abuse the range and the anti heal of the m1 and tips from me (cuz i defeated a hitman with slugger before)
1.try to walk or dash backward if they follow you use or charge ur m2
2.dont dash backward perfect dodge instead at that point you will get the chance to drain ur opponents health

i have used ghost and freedom style but my personal favorite style has to be slugger it matches my play style perfectly is very easy to use yeah its slow but if you hit the guy at the perfect time you an easily win i mean it's not very useful against wolf or bullet but any other style is lightwork.

Slugger was broken when we had 3 stamina bars
i guess takamura can get a special ability that involves high speed hell - but it greatly increases the stamina usage after its ability for 15-20 sec, along with getting a bad dodge. attack speed is whatever since its p run in the mill tbh.
they should add the ultra instinct soundtrack when you perfect dodge
I always hated because of how op it was, and how they kept nerfing the wrong things. Now, however, they nerfed the wrong things SO much that the style is just… confusing.

This video is spreading misinformation within the first 2 minutes. Slugger does not have good m1 reach. Slugger has 145pix reach (putting it in bottom 5) and has slow speed to back that up (whereas most in the lower tiers have good speed) This makes it so that some styles can consistently outwalk your m1s and punish the endlag, which is just unfair. Additionally, while it has good chip & raw, its block damage is dreadful on both m1s and m2s, making it so that your opponent can just turtle and run safely. Lastly, the fact that its m2 cannot be perfect dodged is a bug which could be patched any update drowning feels like it. Tired of people saying this style is redeemable when its easily bottom 3.
