Doddie, I checked your 2013 video and it absolutely is gal stones, if you haven't been diagnosed with this yet, get your doctor to scan you, everything you described in 2013 is exactly what a gal stone feels like. I see nurses who regularly work 2+ hours over their shift without claiming any wages for those extra hours and yet the govt tries to give the impression that NHS staff always have their hands out and don't care about patients. It's really nice to hear that the public doesn't see it that way (most of the time) and that you yourselves know it's actually the govt that doesn't care (stopping funding for nursing courses. Basically trying to turn the public against striking Drs who literally ONLY ever do anything to protect patients just to name a few). So thank you for your kind words, because honestly they are so appreciated!

Hey dodie, make sure to put plants in pots with proper drainage at the bottom, otherwise your plants will get root rot. Which will kill them quickly. Happy planting x
Dodie, it says to put the plant out of direct sunlight, but still exposed to a window, the outdoor air, etc. *first,* then in the fridge, lol. But yeah, the reason they say to do that is because it mirrors the plant going through "seasons" kind of, as it pertains to temperature. That way, the plant grows better. It's like you're putting it through "winter" then a subsequent "spring" so it's more likely to bloom (in the bonsai and many other plants' case(s)).
Put water in the little hockey puck of soil first before you put the seeds in - it puffs up to fill the pot :P As someone who works in the NHS, it's really nice to hear someone who sees it for the amazing thing it truly is (especially in times as dark as these) - thank you! I just hope it's still here in 5 years...

Everyone in the comments is saying you can't kill cacti, I beg to differ. I've killed two of mine by not leaving them beside the window. They weren't even that far away from the window, they were just on a shelf on the other side of my room which is a medium size, so idk how I managed to do it.
I found a cactus, still alive, in a tub from when we were remodelling and moving stuff around in the house. I took it out, and put it on a shelf in my room. It died. I am less hospitable than a freaking plastic tub.
African violets are nice - you put them in a sunny spot, and water them like once a week, but from their tray because their leaves don't like to get wet or be touched. It's the one plant from the past 6 months that I haven't really been afraid I'll lose. Plus their flowers are nice :) If you pot it yourself (in the US you can just buy pregrown plants, I assume the UK is the same? Anyway, I usually put mine into slightly bigger pots, since the ones from the store are usually kind of root bound) you can get soil that's specifically for African Violets. I don't know how necessary that is, but mine is happy in it's special soil :)
I have lots of plants and I have to recommend getting a peace lily :)) mine has been really hardy and luckily I must've gotten a good spot for it because it just won't stop flowering!!

dodie, i had 12 hospitalizations from august to december in 2015 and then i was in treatment till august 2016 so that i didn't get surgery because i'm scared of them so bad, so maybe you could have other options than to get surgery. i haven't had any pain since august and from 2015 to 2016 i had that same pain every two weeks, and it was horrid, so so horrid. but, i swear there are many other options than to get surgery dodie, believe me. i hope you get better, because that pain is so much more than unbearable. at least for me, i had so much pain i was delirious for nights and ugh, it's the worst.
Maybe go for a Peace Lily. It's one of the most common house plants, it's one of the best for making your air inside cleaner, and it's really easy to take care of. Just make sure to keep it out of the sun and water it basically when you remember to. I've nearly killed mine multiple times but it's super resilient. Anyway ily
Hey! I also love plants but I'm a bit forgetful about watering them sometimes, so I have a Crassula ovata (jade plant) that needs a cool place (a home is perfect) and you only need to water it every two weeks. I also give it some ''plant food'' every once in a while. And when it gets a bit bigger, you can simply cut off a few leaves and water it a little less often (well anyway I water it less often because of how forgetful I can get :P ) ;)
Get a cactus! I haven't watered mine in a very long time but it's still managing to make it through. I got it at IKEA along with some (now dead) succulents and it makes me feel responsible enough to take care of something, but it's so low maintenance.
i work at a garden center and honestly, cacti and succulents are your best bet. they sre easy they like lots and lots of light, and little water, you only wanna water them like every 2-3 weeks, or even a full month. a lot of people kill cacti because they overwater.

kinda sorta unrelated to Dodie's vid, but i got some tiny succulent cacti from my cousin some time last year and my mom and i started watering them like only once a week at first. and for the first month or so they were doing just fine and dandy :) ...but then when most of my family/friends came around and noticed them, most of them said that even once a week is too much for cacti, even if they are small succulent. sooo, we started to water them much less... like once in maybe 3-4 weeks? but once we started doing that, we noticed that some parts of the cacti branches(is that what those parts are called?) started to just fall off. like. they were still green and looked strong and all, but parts of their branches/extensions/wtv just literally fell off its main build. like. plop. into its soil. and we were basically like fuuuukkkkkkk what do we do???? so yeah now we're back to watering them once a week....and we just don't really know if we're doing the right thing for these little fellas :/ anyone got any tips/ideas???
You can most definitely have gallstones at 21! I had my gallbladder out at 16 for that exact reason. The pain's pretty recognisable though (right upper quadrant - just under or at rib-level - which radiates into your right shoulder), and if you'd described that to any doctor they'd have done an ultrasound straight away. Omeprazole prescription suggests a doctor thinking something to do with your stomach acid (GERD? Ulcer?) but the fact that your attacks are so infrequent tends away from such a suggestion. It may just be that it's just the way your lil belly functions and that you could try various OTC meds each time to see if they relieve it (try buscopan!) and then just, well, deal with it. Sucky, I know, but the NHS doesn't had unlimited funds for investigations into something that has relatively little impact on your life - no matter how shitty it is when you're experiencing it. Maybe go for a Peace Lily. It's one of the most common house plants, it's one of the best for making your air inside cleaner, and it's really easy to take care of. Just make sure to keep it out of the sun and water it basically when you remember to. I've nearly killed mine multiple times but it's super resilient. Anyway ily
Hey! I also love plants but I'm a bit forgetful about watering them sometimes, so I have a Crassula ovata (jade plant) that needs a cool place (a home is perfect) and you only need to water it every two weeks. I also give it some ''plant food'' every once in a while. And when it gets a bit bigger, you can simply cut off a few leaves and water it a little less often (well anyway I water it less often because of how forgetful I can get :P ) ;)

Get a cactus! I haven't watered mine in a very long time but it's still managing to make it through. I got it at IKEA along with some (now dead) succulents and it makes me feel responsible enough to take care of something, but it's so low maintenance.
the soil you've had there is compressed and you're actually supposed to mix it in a bowl with water to make it wet and fluffy :D

i work at a garden center and honestly, cacti and succulents are your best bet. they sre easy they like lots and lots of light, and little water, you only wanna water them like every 2-3 weeks, or even a full month. a lot of people kill cacti because they overwater.

kinda sorta unrelated to Dodie's vid, but i got some tiny succulent cacti from my cousin some time last year and my mom and i started watering them like only once a week at first. and for the first month or so they were doing just fine and dandy :)
...but then when most of my family/friends came around and noticed them, most of them said that even once a week is too much for cacti, even if they are small succulent.
sooo, we started to water them much less... like once in maybe 3-4 weeks? but once we started doing that, we noticed that some parts of the cacti branches(is that what those parts are called?) started to just fall off. like. they were still green and looked strong and all, but parts of their branches/extensions/wtv just literally fell off its main build. like. plop. into its soil.
and we were basically like fuuuukkkkkkk what do we do????
so yeah now we're back to watering them once a week....and we just don't really know if we're doing the right thing for these little fellas :/

You can most definitely have gallstones at 21! I had my gallbladder out at 16 for that exact reason. The pain's pretty recognisable though (right upper quadrant - just under or at rib-level - which radiates into your right shoulder), and if you'd described that to any doctor they'd have done an ultrasound straight away. Omeprazole prescription suggests a doctor thinking something to do with your stomach acid (GERD? Ulcer?) but the fact that your attacks are so infrequent tends away from such a suggestion. It may just be that it's just the way your lil belly functions and that you could try various OTC meds each time to see if they relieve it (try buscopan!) and then just, well, deal with it. Sucky, I know, but the NHS doesn't had unlimited funds for investigations into something that has relatively little impact on your life - no matter how shitty it is when you're experiencing it. I have a precious lil orange plant called Eleonora and she doesn't even need that much water!!!!! They're actually called Kalanchoes and are easy to take care of so maybe you could try that x
