Wow. I remember this special. This album came out when I was in 6th grade. I was bullied for being gay and was having some problems at home with my mom addicted to drugs. It was a really dark time for me. This album helped me cope. It was my safe place. Thank you, Janet, for this piece of work.
She’s so pretty, and nobody can rock that hair like her. “There’s only 15 songs” chile that’s more than what some artists can do, and all songs are good. The album is a masterpiece.
@@djohn515 I posted that comment before she did that performance, she did great but the way she drew the crowd in, in the 90s and 00s is unparalleled. But she did AMAZING!! Vocals and performance so gravitating!
Except for Kurt Loder who was basically on Madonna’s payroll. If he is involved there was always some type of shade or slight toward Janet because of his Madonna
There's a whole segment in the beginning missing where the dancers were introduced and they each danced but great to see this again. I still have it at home when I taped it on VHS.😂
This is my first Janet album. I got it close to all for you album lmao I was late. Anyways been a big fan ever since! Thank u so much for uploading cause I missed a lot being younger.
This is what MTV should be about! Now you never see any videos nor do they do anything like this towards artists. Now it’s about “ Jersey Shore” & there’s nothing to like about it in my opinion 🤷🏽♂️ . . . . sry to anyone I offended regarding my opinion.
Why do you say that? Bill and Janet had a really cool friendship. Bill did the reporting for MTV at a lot of Janet related event for MTV over the years. th-cam.com/video/17gBHSRoQ6Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/p3SXYW1q6ws/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/vUwF-EjjZ6I/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8BXYd7okUHk/w-d-xo.html

A lot of younger folks unfortunately do not know how legendary this and Aaliyahs album were at this time.

THE VELVET ROPE IS AND STILL THE ALBUM
After re-watching this interview before I posted this video, I put the Velvet Rope back into rotation. Still sounds amazing!!! Timeless.

Janet and Bill were actually close, and she often did her MTV interviews specifically with him.
