If I remember correctly it's because his old computer originally had integrated graphics instead of a graphics card, I might be wrong since I haven't brushed up on my Chuggaalore for a while.

Just letting people know another thing about this game. There is one map exclusive orb for each board. Grand canal's being the flutter which takes you to the star and you pay the 20 coins. This is something that they haven't covered yet and all the orbs are tied to the methods in which stars are earned.
