  • FINISHING UP SMALL PLATES AND FULL CASES | Weekly Lego Selling Vlog #41
This week consisted of a lot of order picking, adding parts, and finishing cataloging the Small Plates category that was started the previous week. We unfortunately ended this week with every single case we have full, so we definitely need to get to adding ASAP!

When I consolidate I only move parts to a drawer closer to the beginning. By doing that it helps shorten the pick path slightly by concentrating parts to the beginning but also limits searching drawer by drawer to find the missing item.

Hmm. Interesting. We've thought about moving high-selling parts to the front of the pick path, but figured its more work than its worth, though we have some ideas for different ways of inventory layout similar to that concept for when we move into a small warehouse. We no longer search drawer-by-drawer if we are missing a part. With over 10,000 drawers it is not worth the time at all... Thanks for the insight!

I was able to grab NEW 24 drawer Akro Mils today from Walmart for $40. Not sure if they’re still available but figured I’d mention it.

Nice! That's a good price! Unfortunately still not near the ~$25 we used to be able to get them at way back in the day... lol

Where do you guys buy the part before you bought new Lego sets, nice video

As a fellow seller, I cringe a bit when I see you guys filling up the drawers. I try to only add 50-75% to leave room for new parts if I have to add them to the drawers. Otherwise, you're just going to have to reassign again.

"larger in terms of bigger size"
    🤔 Hmmm.. yes. Quite.

Do you pay your contractors by the pound?

We initially found all our costs and built out a pricing structure that was using weight, however we have now just standardized each category to a flat rate per "bin." We use the same size (12 gallon) totes for most everything in the sorting process so we have just set each thing to a flat rate. Occasionally we do have categories that do not fill a bin all the way, so in that case we pay for the "bin" but only fill it to a designated stop in the bin (i.e. 1/4 or 1/2 full). It makes it easier to keep track of paying people and stuff doing flat costs and speeds up the checkout and checkin process for bins.
      Thanks for watching!

@@JustABrickInTheBucket Hmmm. Interesting idea! And like others have mentioned, I like the cases - so far, that is beyond my scope, as I only really have one off-site sorter, and Nobody is doing Mold sort yet, and only once have I had anyone do a "B-sort" - I still want to get through all the categories Once myself before I pass them off to others. Slowly getting there!

Another great video of content, and I particularly liked the decision to put the one column of Akros in at an angle! It would probably be a Herculean task, but have you at least considered any options to completely re-organize the garage to get more space? Depending on how difficult it is to get a warehouse type space, it may be a viable option.
As for those expensive Akros - I am so glad I invested Much more heavily than I needed when I did. I think I have enough for nearly doubling my size if it comes to that at some point!
Looking forward to more videos - also - might we be looking at a live stream celebration for 8K subscribers? *Chuckles*

    Hello!
I also want to open a shop.
I would like to ask how many of the Akro-Mils storage boxes you have in your garage by type?
    Akro-Mils 10164 ?
    Akro-mils 10124 ?
    Akro-Mils 10144 ?
    Thanks for the reply!
    Thanks, Christian

      Hi Christian!
Thanks for watching. While I don't know the exact counts off the top of my head I know we have just about a 70/30 ration of 64 to 24 count Akros. We have 2 of the 44 count, but those just equal one more 64 and one more 24 count when you add them together. I know we have just over 200 units in our garage at the moment with room for about 8 more. So I estimate without doing an exact count we have 140 of the 64 count units, and 60 of the 24 count units. Hopefully this helps!

15:50 With small parts like that I have it in my terms that I don’t differentiate between the types and I haven’t had any complaints. It really cuts down time that I have to spend

    • @JustABrickInTheBucket
      @JustABrickInTheBucket  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That's smart. I have heard of a few people not differentiating mold types, however it feels like we should just so the buyer knows exactly what they're getting. We have had a couple times where buyers reach out when we accidentally give the wrong mold type for certain parts and they ordered another, but I don't know if these super tiny things matter on clips and such.
Thanks for your insight as to how you do it! And thanks for watching!

@@JustABrickInTheBucket Yeah I run a real small store about 30k parts but I would think in a bigger store it might be more worth it to separate and then not have as many people possibly getting upset. Thanks for responding to me your channel is the reason I started my BrickLink store so I’d like to thank you for that.
