If the #5 seed is the highest ranked G5 conference champ, then the #5 seed is getting blown out by a superior 2 or 3 loss team in front of their ~30,000 fans.
This just means Notre Dame will have the same amount of games as any other 1-4 seed. Instead of a conference championship, they get a home playoff game
Thought the ESPN thing said top 5 were conference bids? Notre Dame would not be higher than 6 because the 5 highest conference champions get in and ND isn't in a conference so 6 would be the highest rank they can get, correct?
I'm still a little confused but I don't think that's how it works. The highest ranked conference champions are in but the 5th one is not necessarily seeded #5. They said Georgia would have gotten the 5th seed last year. They also suggested Liberty would get in as the 12 seed by way of winning conference, not the 5 seed.
Expand to 16 teams single elimination playoffs. Reduce regular season games to 11 games and eliminate cupcake out of conference and "Conference Championships" games. The "conference champions" can be determined through round-robin schedule like Big XII did from 2011 - 2016. Realign into 8 superconferernces and automatic bid for 8 "conference champions" and 8 at large bids. No more than 2 at large bids per conference which will force talent to be spread out more evenly across conferences making the games more competitive and exciting the whole season. Home field advantage for "conference champions" for 1st round (Sweet 16) Elite 8 (quarterfinals), Final 4 (semifinals), and Finals on neutral sites. This is the way that all teams heading into playoffs will never play each other more than twice in a season and all teams play same number of games (no byes).
"Notre Dame just got some really bad news." No Matt, they didn't. ND fans have known about the this since 2021, and we love it. To ND who think it's unfair, it ain't. Every team has two win 4 total post season game when you include the conference championship game. This is why ND is ineligible for a bye for this reason. It isn't fair to the other teams, so that first round would be the 4th postseason for ND if they were to play though until the end. Now, to the people who think ND should be in conference. Just reminder, ND did want to join the big 10 over 100 years ago. Then, the anti-catholic, anti-immigrant, racist bigot Fielding Yost of Michigan lead a boycott against ND joining. He also threatened the other Big Ten Schools that they would lose their membership if they didn't take part in the boycott. It's what stoked the fire for that Rivalry. Everyone known Notre Dame highest seed was going to be #5 in a 12 team playoff because they aren’t in the conference. In ND case, they don’t care they would still host a playoff game.
Awesome video man. i may have misunderstood, but if I didn't... In a way, it's perfect for ND. Seeds #1-#4 play 13 games. Game 13 is a "must win" game vs. [#2 of conf] played at a neutral site. If they win, they make the BIG8. #5 seed, you play 12 games, Game 13 is a "must win" game vs. [ seed #12 ] played at Home. if they win, they make the BIG8. but would also means, a non power five Conf Champ could play 17 games (with 5 elimination games in a row)
Funny thing is ND tired and got told no a long time ago (and essentially what made them what they are today because it required them to play teams all over the country). Ever since people have been crying that they won’t join a conference when the wanted to way back when.
It isn’t crazy at all for Notre Dame to have to win four straight, that’s exactly what all the conference champions do as well 😂, they have to play an extra game than Notre Dame so this is only fair
Honestly it makes so much sense and is definitely fair. If ND ends up as a top 4 seed and is undefeated then the conference championship would effectively be their first round bye. It didn't make sense to me at first but then I thought about that

CFP, 5 conference champions. More than likely losers of the 4 major conference championship games. Winning your division within your conference must mean something and should be acknowledged. ND is a lock if they win 10 games, very good chance with 9 wins. For all you ND haters, get over it, ND is ND, still the most storied program in college football regardless of what Bama, GA and Clemson, Ohio St have achieved the last ten years. Final 2 teams, more than likely will be a battle from the 4 power conferences which should really be interesting. More likely a battle between Big 10 and SEC. I can just hear all the screaming for those final 2 spots. Mid major, no chance of getting 2 teams in. Why not the mid-major champ the #5 seed, that is borderline discrimination if the other 4 champions are automatic. NCAA will give this 2 years before expanding, would not be surprised if they do it after 1. SEC and Big 10 will go postal if they do not dominate the CFP. Also this was the most bias commentary I have ever listened to, give you credit for being honest but 100% bias.
Its no different for Notre Dame than any other team in a conference. In order to be in the top 4 and get a bye, a team like Alabama would need to win their conference championship game, so that would mean Alabama would need to win four games in a row. If they lose the conference championship game, they lose the bye, so they would still need to win four in a row.
Notre Dame would still only play 16 games, they don't have a conference championship so the first playoff game would be like a conference championship game for them. JOIN A CONFERENCE NOTRE DAME
Georgia had a fairly easy schedule this year, but Alabama shouldn't even be in your mouth about scheduling. Let me know who you're a fan of so I can ridicule their weak conference and weak scheduling. I'll do an easy comparison of SOS between Bama and your team over the last decade.
I still don’t get the automatic bid because if Kansas state wins the big 12 and has 3-4 losses they get a automatic bit and 1-4 ranking. It should just be the the top 4 teams so if Alabama loses in the sec championship and has one loss they should be in the top 4
Notre Dame overrated. But not the overrated B1G 10? CLEMSON has as many nattys in the same time period as The Ohio State & Michigan in its 8th year with Harbaugh. Btw SEC is trash too. It's only 6 real teams. 6-4 against ACC. How can Vanderbilt get beat by Wake Forest?
Here is the reality: EVERY game is a PLAYOFF. There is no such thing as a "regular" season in D1 CFB because now only 12 teams (5 power conference champs) can make the playoff (which should be called NCAA D1 Football Finals) which makes almost every single game a must win. Teams are getting eliminated as the season goes on and the rule change only means that we will see more 2-3 loss teams being able to play for a title. I felt that 8 teams was the sweet spot, but I can live with 12 teams. I simply don't like the College Football Playoff branding because it sounds so cheap. The top 12 teams should be heading to the finals, not a playoff, because they are actual qualifiers to play for a national championship. Calling it the Finals is a way to bestow a level of achievement to the teams and to recognize the grind of the season as the true playoffs. Every D1 team is vying to earn qualification to the 12 team tournament, so make it feel special and ditch the old branding.
I mean you can’t complain too much about being #5. First you play the worst seed #12 at home and will usually be an undeserving team like LSU or Arizona. Then you play the worst of the power 4 conference champion which will likely be the BIG12 so maybe OK state or Kansas?! Then boom you’re already in the final 4 with a shot of not even playing #1 if they are upset by the 8 or 9 which won’t be likely but still possible
Let's put it this way, Notre Dame barely beat a South Carolina team that had lost it's starting RB and their #1 TE, who was playing the Rb position, to the transfer portal before the bowl game in 2022. I'm pretty sure Wells was injured and out that game too. It was the first signs that Legette was stepping up.
There's 5 auto bids but the fifth one is not necessarily seeded #5. I saw it suggested Liberty would have made it in the playoffs by way of winning their conference but as the 12 seed not the 5.
The top 4 AQ get a bye. The fifth goes back into the pot and is seeded. So if Liberty gets the auto bid, as the 5th ranked AQ team, it would be seeded along with all the other at-large teams. Most likely it would be ranked 12th and play the 5th ranked team.
I read Notre Dame doesnt care because they don't play a Conference Championship game so the 1st rd playoff game would add up to the same amount of games the top 4 teams play by the 2nd rd of the playoffs

Any team in the final standings who are within the top four, but don't have a conference championship will not get a bye. They will be Number 5 or higher. A 12-1 team would lose out to a conference champion who was 9-4. Silly. It will have to be adjusted in the coming years.
Big 10 has Michigan, current national champions. Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa. Who does the ACC have ? FSU, who was blown the F out in thier bowl game.
I guess if you're so stupid, or have reading comprehension deficiencies so bad you can understand what I was saying. I'll break it down to you as if you were a 2 year old... the big 10 and acc aren't on the same level, while both conferences have quite a few mid to average teams, big 10 top level teams are far superior than the acc top teams. Did you understand that?
This literally does the opposite. As long as they have a road to the CFP they will be independent and this allows them that. Joining a conference provides 0 benefits to ND. Their bye week will be when everyone else is playing their conference championships.

Big 10 has Michigan, current national champions. Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa. Who does the ACC have ? FSU, who was blown the F out in thier bowl game.
@@BayonetRed literally no points was made in your statement.
Repent and trust in Jesus you will be saved I love yall and God bless
Notre dame is good asf what are you talking about lmao They’re a top ten team every year..
Lol wvu can mess around and win the big 12 chip and play for a natty
You think there's a world where West Virginia plays for the national championship next year?
Lmaooo they suck
@@kevinbond8966 If they win the big 12, which is weak, and win 2 playoff games
Lol this will finally force Noter Dame to go into a conference. If they’re smart, they would go to the ACC.
Why would they join a dying conference? Maybe BIG10 but I doubt they'll join a conference anytime soon
This literally does the opposite. As long as they have a road to the CFP they will be independent and this allows them that. Joining a conference provides 0 benefits to ND. Their bye week will be when everyone else is playing their conference championships.
I want people to realize this. Kalen Debour lead Washington to a national championship.
Hes not that good lol
