    We will pay Minister. We are behind you. Let those who cannot pay be subsidised accirdingly and let us affordable tariffs. Do not let those who are doing their best to support the efforts of the department become exasperated.

      How must anyone afford this??? The painful irony is that the middle class bears the brunt of all the debt this government has created

      Everyone is feeling the pinch. One way or another the debts must be paid so power may be affordable. More employement would help as well.

      Why are there differences between the tariffs charged by Eskom in its areas of distribution compared to the tariffs charged by municipalities. Do they the municipalities add their margins on top of the bulk tariffs by Eskom like a middleman charge. If the Minister could explain this, I will be happy.

    Can i ask a very simple question, which is: is it sustainable for any business, whether for profit or nonprofit, to supply and do mot get paid back. We can build a very well functioning infrastructure but if the collections for supplied electricity are not forthcoming , that business model is unsudtainable. This issue becomes more relevant when electricity cost is becoming more expensive. In this scenario, the distribution leakages through issues like illegal connections due to unaffordability, will be escalated. Further, the higher elecitrocity costs will simply feed into increase in inflation. This creates another economic dilemma.

    I’m one of those consumers who’s been a diligent buyer of Eskom electricity. I’m 11months without electricity because transformer damage due to:
    1. Illegal connections (due to unemployment | ‘kasi culture’ of nonpayment)
    2. Overpopulation
    3.Lack of Infrastructure maintenance by Eskom
    4. By-laws not being enforced (people extending their houses without following the right process which is also due to lack of education from CoJ)
    5. Political will

    I believe an engineer should be president because they sleep on problems and wake up with solutions. Unlike Mr. Book Author, who brought Eskom to its knees and received a job offer from the USA-a move that raises skepticism-Zuma advocated for nuclear, He was way ahead of everyone, nuclear is the future.

    • @kusaselihlengubane8984
      @kusaselihlengubane8984 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everyone advocates for nuclear it's just that Zuma's administration had proven itself too corrupt and many people (including businessmen) did not trust him with so much money to carry out the project.

    What was the cause for loadshedding. I am asking because it is bafling that now loadshedding seems to be gone, then electricity is so expensive. What is the contribution of much touted cheaper renewables in ameliorating the cost of electricity?

    Micro grids should work. This will achieve the objectives of universal access and do not punish thise who pay, and i repeat paying upfront. Cash is king guys, let us not firhet that. Actually, prepaid customers should treasured more because they give you cash upfront. It is a simple business principle. If all consumers were on post consumers, most municipalities wold have more cas flow problems, including Eskom. Let us be honest, prepaid customers need appreciation.
