THAT'S outplaying in the fireball game!! Picture proof to me that Ryu, despite what people say, is capable of matching Guile in the long range game given the right awareness and skill. He's got the tools and Paladin certainly has more than enough of the skill to make it work.

Paladin already developed an strategy for the Guile match up, if only Ryu was stronger, this kid is a genius and will be someone who might become Evo or Capcom Cup champ someday, this match up is since SFV almost impossible for Ryu, sonic blade just made easier to Guile to over power Ryu's Hadoken game, I wish Capcom had give Ryu a powerup tool that also was an offensive move that protected Ryu while charging his Hadoken, but the new power up mechanic is just too slow, and force Ryu to stop to charge, Juri and Guile not have this issue as their power up attack is also an offensive tool that can stop a fireball.
I think Ryu can make this matchup work. As we see it just takes a bit more forethought and patience, not to mention excellent awareness but it is possible. I only think Ryu needs a buff to his Denjin. Other than that I think he makes it work for the most part.

He does! However, if you time the input correctly, you'll get a "perfect" Sonic Boom. It's a faster projectile, and he always yells "PERFECT" when you pull it off successfully.
Top-Level players and good Guile Mains will rarely drop a perfect sonic boom.

Guile, dalshim, jp, all the same. Hundreds of fireballs, wait for a jump and then an anti-air. Everybody has the right to match/like some fight style but for me is just boring to see and even worse fight against it.
I can’t understand why Capcom doesn’t make Ryu better to fight against Guile. This is just ridiculous. If only Ryu had fireball improved against sonic booms. That’s all it was needed. Or remove that ridiculous blade sonic.
