The intro, drums capturing a mountainside... like a lover's voice firing it, the guitars, the bass. the vocals, still fresh! 1983-2011 stay alive! best song ever! even if no-one else like us thinks the same. for me this is all about us! sorry if people think different. until i die this song will reflect staying alive where ever and whenever!
Damn right mate, they were amazing. I was fortuanant enough to see them live a few times. Brilliant live. Stu and his guitar, fantastic. His lyrics lit up my young life way back then and they still mean so much right now. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
One of the best tunes and bands of the 80's - if you saw them live - you knew you had a good time. Stuart Adamson - why oh why did you extinguish your flame so early ! What a talent - your lyrics mean so much to so many people - RIP Stuart - one of the most under rated musicians !
Thanks for this, I used to have it on vinyl when I was a stupid teenager and prolly left the box to melt in the attic. Back then girls and friends were more important than worrying about my record collection. Now I rethink that order, all of 'em go away eventually LOL.
I was working in a record shop when this was first released and I played it to death, so much so that the boss threatend to sack me if I ever played it again ! I did, but only when he wasn't in.......then again, what do you expect from a Neil Young fan ?! 'Dreams stay with you'
I loved all these 80s new wave songs from 1990 up to to the last couple years more than I did in the 1980s. They always brought back good memories but now they are often reminders of great people who are gone from that era.
@spainishgirl Ahhhh! What a song and what a re-mix. Takes me back to getting ready to go to Archies, Fouquets, John Street Jam etc. Can even smell my Kouros now. Glorious.
I LOVE THIS!!! Thank you for posting it!!1 I heard it for the first time while i was driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway in high school, back in '83...awesome tune...Sounds so free and royal....
@spainishgirl Hello Dorothy, thanks so much for watching. Big Country were the greatest band to ever grace my life. I thank you for your comments sweet lady
This is by far the BEST version of the song I reckon! I bought the Big Country (tape/cassette in those days) and this was on it as well as an extended "Fields of Fire". I thought "wow this is wicked stuff - all that drumming and guitars - which I thought sounded liked bagpipes". Thanks for this 12" posting, it's just got to be heard LOUD.
I have been trying to find the Pure Mix of this song for ages. I have a really obscenely low quality MP3 taken off of a cassette. Thankfully this is an amazing quality recording you seem to have. :D
This sounds to me like the Steve Lillywhite 12inch remix version, very rare and on vinyl only, as far as I am aware. Thank you so much for uploading this!
@blertoly Hah. Yeah I was actually playing it quite loudly last night. I think I did suffer some hearing loss, especially from playing it multiple times. Thanks for the quality upload.
@HONEYSOSWEET63 Thanks once again dear friend, n yeah it does take one back to the good old days. It is a fantastic song and back then their music as in use of guitars was so new. How can ya make a guitar sound like bagpipes ? Stu was a genious. Hugs dear friend.
@mickaweapon hey Mick, ty for watching buddy n how the hell are ya these days ? yeah my fav band to buddy, always have been, always wil be. thanks for watching and sharing your words with me. Take care mate
Thanks for watching and the comms. Yeah I got the album back then too. At the time there was nothing like their sound around anywhere. They were unique.
Thanks for watching mate. They were amazing man. I find it difficult to listen to Big Country without Stuart. To me they are not complete. There is something missing, Stuart. Thanks again for watching.
@6irondriver lol, so true mate. Luckily i still have all my vinyl BC songs and cd's too. I bought a turn table a few years back to plug into my cd system so i can listern away for hours. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care

I loved all these 80s new wave songs from 1990 up to to the last couple years more than I did in the 1980s. They always brought back good memories but now they are often reminders of great people who are gone from that era.
