So how do you know how big the fish are that you are scanning on the 3D imaging? The feedback seems to just come back as a group of dots. How would you know whether those dots are a school of bluegills or a school of bass?
i noticed on the simulated data....tjat een u open 3d...the screen is full....but wen u actually use 3d...the boat and picture is small...u have to use ur fingers to always widen it up
You can use the SonarCharts Live from Navionics if you have an active subscription on your card. You can save waypoints where you marked fish and they will show up on the map
Love mine too! The only disadvantage compared to the competition is that it lucks of tutorials online. There are quite a few but do not cover everything. I was looking to see if I could find a simulator for my PC so that I can play and learn it , but unfortunately there is nothing at all. You need to have the unit with you and since mine is embedded on the boat, that's impossible. But overall , it is a superiority! :-)
You can only have one active screen at a time on the A78, but you can display more than one. Only the active screen will be controlled by the menu. You are able to switch which panel on the display is the active screen.
How about support on these units how good is it? I have a Humminbird support people are nice but most are not very knowledgable of the units. Maps what do you need to buy and what comes on the unit for Pacific Northwest Lakes and Marine? Prices on 9" or 12" GPS Chirp, sidevision and 3D Vision?
The support is excellent from Raymarine on their 1-800 line. The maps we sell with this are Navionics+ charts which covers North America. You can go to their website and click on the "web app" to view the maps before you buy them. All the pricing is on our website www.radioworld.ca and in Canadian dollars. We can ship anywhere in Canada.
Where are they located in the US. If I had one and had to send in the unit for repair. Humminbird is in Alabama which means five days or so each way. I sent my Humminbird two day delivery and then sent it back ground FedEx which took over five days.

As I want to do geological/ Archaeological surveys with this, I would Like to know if its somehow possible to extract data ( Like GpS Waypoints, Sonar Screenshots ecc) to a PC
I bought an Axiom 9 thinking it would be a nice upgrade for my sailboat. WRONG!!! This thing cannot auto-route with the standard lighthouse charts that came with it. Would have to buy navionics subscription to open that feature. Really guys? Come on! This thing is useless to me without auto route. My 12yo garmin did that all day with no problem. Needless to say, this Axiom 9 is going. Last Raymarine/Flir product I ever buy. Your greed is over the top.

Will there be a foward looking sonar in the future
Its already hear. Simrad and Garmin have it. We are hoping Raymarine comes out with it too

It will work in saltwater, but the 3D Real Vision is best under 200' deep

Yes, when you have a Navionics chart in the unit with an active freshest data subscription you can record SonarCharts Live data on the unit.

I have. AXION 7 with software 3.2.101 but I don't have the 3d options. Can you explain
You need the RV-100 transducer to enjoy the 3d feature. Most likely you using the CPT5 or CPT-100 transducer.
Thomas Smith yes you are correct. I have a axion 7 DV not the RV. I don't know if the axion 7 DV will be able to operate the RV transducer
