You Myers haters are all out of your freaking minds. Just a reminder that the people that disagree with your take on this player are Canucks management and all the coaching staff. Why don’t you guys wake up and appreciate how skilled this guy actually is and valuable, especially his price point this season. Thinking a 20 year old college player can come in and usurp a seasoned pro like Myers is absolutely ridiculous.

At the trade deadline Canucks are going to trade for Rasmus Anderson Don’t need Jake Guentzel “elite” scoring at $9.5M when we already have the “elite” scorer in house who has chemistry with Petey…. Brock Boeser with Petey and Jake Debrusk is the line… I’m telling you that’s fire!!!! Miller with Joshua and Garland would be money… Hoglander plays better lower in the line up and with Suter and Heinen they could be the next best 3rd line in hockey..
Guentzel would have been closer to $10.5M in Vancouver. The tax benefits in Florida, allow them to pay less because the players keep more of their income. Even at 10.5, he'd still be taking home less than what he's making now in Tampa.
I do like what the Canucks did overall for free agency. I like the Debrusk signning overall as it gives more cap flexibility to improve on the forward depth than a guenztel or reinhart signings. I do feel like we should have improved the D a bit more. Any injuries to the top 4 could be a disaster.
I think they're actually doing well for Defense right now. Wolanin, McWard, and Woo are making considerable strides in their game, and Juulsen played reasonably well late into last season. We just need Forbort or Desharnais to play simple defense to give the top two lines a breather. Both are in the 99% percentile for penaltykillers, which is a huge upside. Our Defense, in that aspect, is a huge improvement from last year. Myers, and Cole are not superb in the PK part of the game, and even Zadorov wasn't spectacular either.
I prefer to have the options that signing cheap short term deals brings. Being locked under the Jake G prison for not only his prime years but MINE too doesn't sound too great.
Ima be real, having JT miller and Jake guenzel on at 18 million in 4 years guts any ability for this team to compete past that window. With the younger part of the core having a window of 6* years I think it a better long term bet to go with debrusk. He’s potting 40 with pettey I believe.
I'm listening to Kyle talk, and I understand that neither of you have watched the tape on DeBrusk. Dude is 27 years old, is one season removed from 27 goals and is pretty much a career 25 goal scorer good in the corners, takes the puck to the net, and has a deceptive wrist shot. Worth repeating he's only 27, really good, we have him for 7 years, and he wants to be here. Kyle, this isn't NHL24, you don't get NHL players just because you want them or offer them a contract or imply that you would offer a contract. You talk as though personal autonomy and free agency were just a formality to getting Guentzel in the blue and green. Further, in order to sign Guentzel, the Bolts had to give up Stamkos. The Canuck comparable would have been like letting JT Miller walk and signing Guentzel. Ouch! Back to Debtusk, 7 years at 5.5 million. In a few years 5.5 million will be the going rate for a good third liner. In a few years, knowing the cap is going up and our prospects develop, there will be money to have Debrusk AND get a bigger name.
I like DeBrusk. Said weeks ago I think he’s very good lol. Watched a lot of him. But ya in comparison to Guentzel or Mustard Salt, I think there’s a huge gap. Tocchet gotta bring out the best in DeBrusk / another level to his game in order for him to be what we need him to do with Petey. Think that’s more than possible.
Check out his 2023 goals scored video. THAT player looks super quick and a terror around the crease. Once I saw that, I finally started getting pumped on the guy. The Boston thing will take a while but I'm almost there.
@@LockedOnCanucks Yup. I really like your JT comp. Kyle. There's more to this player for sure. Coming hot into his prime ready to break out. Hope he comes to camp ripped in shape and ready to go.
If Lekkerimaki is developing well in Abby come the trade deadline would you call him up as a replacement for Hoglander? Trade Hoglander, McWard 2025 1st to Calgary for Rasmus Anderson… Deal or no deal? Who says no?
@@harryvesanen284fr i don’t get why we’d want to do that. What are your thoughts on Tom Willander playing for the Canucks in March & April?
Too young NCAA is a great development league don’t rush him just because this organization doesn’t know how to build a D core

Myers would have gotten 4M+ for 3 to 4 years on the open market. That’s why he has the NMC.
