@@brianbehrens Yes, the jetty was there since the 50's. It has been fortified a couple times due to winter storm blow outs. Dirt road into the parking area (wasn't a state park then). I used to enter the water by the jetty and let the rip take me outside. I still have my last board, a 1970 Hansen 50/50 "short board". 8'6" was an early short board compared to the 10' logs that were then the norm. Quite radical! By the way, no one had "discovered" that there was decent surf at the Groins. We missed so much!
My wife and I got super into boogie boarding while in Mexico last month and I'm interested in doing it again at Westport now that we are back in Seattle. Your video is really cool and makes me want to hit the coast right now. Please let me know if you have any tips for boogie boarding in May. Thanks!
This is amazing! I'm learning to surf now and want to write a blog about learning to surf at Ocean Shores, and Westport. Would it be OK to include this in my blog for the Coastal Interpretive center? - Lynn Camp
surfed there 1967 0r 8 thru 73. Thanls for the post and memories!
Rad. Much different then I'm told. Must have been just a dirt road. Was the jetty there in the late 60s?

Surfed there over 20 years ago! Freaking epic! Thanks for the vid!!
Nice job 👍🏻👍🏻
Super nice. Great tune and footage. Been riding there since 90's. Very clean day,, guessing 4ft. 12 seconds? Anyway.. Cheers!
Nice edit and music. I was just in Westport for some fishing July 2nd. Loved it!
This gets me so stoked for Westport trips, great video dawg
Great video. And great conditions. I long for clean days like that out there.
man, thats far from the West Port surf I've experienced.Seems like every time I'm there it's huge, blown out, and nearly impossible to get out back.
Welcome to Westport
I second that.. This looks like a perfect so cal day
I’m glad someone mentioned this because this literally looks nothing like the Westport I’m used to riding… this actually looks consistently good lol
Great vid and edit. I like the different camera perspectives. You guys got it going on in the PNW, yeww!!..........Billy, THE PHOENIX

mobylovr I was there today on my sponge. Morning started off well with decent waves, but got blown to shit in the afternoon.
fall is the best at westport. may can be a tough month on the coast.
Great edit! I was in the water with you on the 10th. Cheers.
firing conditions westport special!
Do you remember the swell height on this trip?
Great video, so much fun! But how thick are your wetsuits? The water must be freeeeezing!
5/4. It's chilly. Sucks wearing gloves on days like this, but you kind of have to
I thought you needed at least 6mm for this time of year. 5/4 doesn't seem enough, or maybe you're just braver than me haha.
depends on how wet you get... if you stay on your board and don't duck dive much, and the sun is out, you can get away with thinner rubber
5/4 with gloves and a hood get it done all winter at Westport

you're welcome to use in your blog
@@brianbehrens You're awesome, thank you! - Lynn
nice long period swells - no slop!!!
How cold is the water?
not sure on this day but generally in a 5/4 mm or 4/3 mm suit in summer months
What was the swell forecast on this day?
Knee high and firing. Low wind. I dunno
3ft at 14 sec WNW
Careful of the rip out by the jetty. It pulled me out a good ways and then slammed me on the rocks! Still have the scars to this day lol
CJ Otto Review the rip is no joke. Be wary travelers!
YYYYYAAAAASSSSSS!
Nice!
