This is on my to-do list. It certainly is a beautiful hike. That dog was definitely after your crisps. Stunning views over Dovestones and Alphin Pike. Thanks for sharing, Shanita.
Hi Chris. Apologies for my late response. Some comments are not seen when on much earlier walks, but it's really pleasing other walkers are inspired by some of our routes. I think you will enjoy it. Felt a bit mean not sharing my crisps with that dog. Also Alpine Pike is pending but believe its quite a steep climb up.
@CountrysideWalking the short way up Alphin Pike is steep and boggy, but if you park at the pay and display, then hike up to Chew Reservoir, then back along the ridge to Alphin Pike it is much gentler. I did a video in that route a couple of months ago. But I came straight down it, on my behind a few times.
Ha ha ha! That dog made me laugh! I did almost that exact route about 12 months ago and it was blowing a gale. I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Chris
Hi Chris. Great to hear from you. I didn't mention in my video that I have been up the steep route with a walking group to what I thought was pots and pans, but it was more the area than the actual Pots and Pans. So this was something new to me. Thanks for watching.
beautiful and very knowledgeable video. I will be going to same route this week some time and will make a video as well. I wish i could talk about the tracks and the history the way you were talking. thank you very much.
Thanks for your comments. I owe much of the commentary on history to Michael. He is the expert while I do all the fiming and music side. Hope you enjoy walking the same route.
Really appreciative !! No doubt ! Beautifully , methodically designed work of a well-skilled designer ,I must say ! I appreciate your efforts and dedication in your work . So simple yet so powerful . Go ahead my dear friend . my best wishes . ❤️❤️
Lovely video 💜 I have friends in Saddleworth, but I've never gone up towards the Pots and Pans, now I wish I had. The famine road bit was interesting, I had no idea they existed in the UK, I'm over in Ireland now, and there are many famine roads here. 💜
So pleased you enjoyed the walk up to Pots and Pans. Thanks for watching. I must admit I discovered quite a bit about Saddleworth Moor I didn't know before. Michael informs me, the famine roads were a kind of poor relief when mill workers were laid off in times of recession.
i can't help but notice the lack of sheep/cattle. numbers had to be reduced by law because their hooves were eroding away these natural uplands and of course their flatulence was going to bring about the end of the world. but in the last few years the news is hardly reporting the constant heath and hillside fires brought about in part i'm sure by the ungrazed grass turning to parched tinder such as you are walking through here. lovely scenery, thanks for taking us along.
Hello Ms Vanorak. I take your comments on board. You are right there has been a lot of environmental changes in our countryside not always positive - (especially if moorlands not kept under control.) However, we have been on other walks with plenty of cattle and sheep around.
Enjoyed "Lost in a Mist" which was appropriate for this I saw as it was quite misty at the start of your walk. I have walked up to Pots and Pans myself once a few years ago, but I climbed up from Dovestone Reservoir. Would like to do this route sometime though. You made a friend there too who was hoping he was going to get fed! 😂
Thanks for your comments. It was indeed misty at the start of walk and initially swirling around us in all directions. A bit spooky! 'Lost in A Mist' was a track produced a while ago, so the title match is accidental, but appropriate. If interested in this route up to Pots and Pans, I have put a link to the OS map under the 'show more' bit above. Hope it might be useful. The dog certainly took an interest in my crisps much to the owner's dismay.
@@CountrysideWalking Yes that is useful, thank you for that Shanita, that looks very similar to the route I'll end up doing when I get around to this walk 😊
I know I produce my own music but do try to keep it mellow and allow conversations in between. But agree with your comments regarding some films so thanks for approval.

That's so nice to reflect back on. Glad you enjoyed watching. Thanks.
@@CountrysideWalking A lot
Just done this today, cracking little walk spot on with your discription 😊
Hi Debbie. Yes Pots and Pans is a popular area. We've done it a few times ourselves. Thanks for watching.

It's nice to watch a walking video that doesn't have some loud over the top music

RIP Keith Bennett.
Thanks and apologies for late acknowledgement.🥲
I did this route today was very windy up there
Yes. I can imagine the exposed areas would be windy up there. Thanks for watching.
