    I'm a now retired forensic anthropologist from UBC and I was there for weeks. I could tell you some stories that would curl the average person's teeth. I was able to refrain from my own sense of disgust by constantly putting on airs and maintaining "professionalism" constantly. Otherwise, the ptsd from that experience would be overwhelming.

    I simply can't believe the place is surrounded by houses. I remember when the story broke in the UK. I saw some news reel and I thought his farm was way out of the countryside. Amazing to see this - thank you so much for filming (and, as always, reporting with such respect and compassion)

      The homes weren't that closely built at the time when he was arrested. His parents sold off a bunch of acres in the 80's and they had only built a small development at the time.

    • @MisterMister5893
      @MisterMister5893 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      likewise. It's strange that a facility dealing with animal disposal can be so close to eco people who go for walks and such. It isn't so much the proximity but the sophistication of the facility. We have a slaughter house in town here as well intermingling with homes just mere steps away but it's an industrialized building well concealed and insulated. You can't see or hear but the smell is horrific and extends for many kilometres / miles. It's no longer in operation but the smell was unmistakable for a long time when I drove by. I can't imagine people who lived there having to deal with the stench of blood or carcass in the air which is my best approximation of the smell.

    • @MisterMister5893
      @MisterMister5893 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pamelamorris3148 The new homes were built there knowing the stigma of being close to the killing filed? I guess real estate being what it is in BC, a deal is a deal even if you have to live next to an impromptu cemetery.

    I grew up nearby, he had a pet calf and his parents slaughtered it and then hung it up in the butcher barn laughing when he came home from school looking for it and told him to go see. It seemed to really mess him up, he apparently never had many friends growing up because of his hygiene and left midway to become a farmer instead of graduating. Love your videos Scott! They are so cool 👍

      @@ravenr1420 absolutely but there’s a way of doing it. My family has grown up on farms for generations. You don’t go taking the calf or baby animal a child who is learning about raising them and purposefully slaughter them in a vicious way and then feed it to them. That’s some twisted shit.

Willy pickton had mental deficiencies and when his parents died he stayed in his childhood home doing what he always did. Slaughtering either pigs or women. Some of the women were just offered a safe place to sleep. Messed up. RIP

    Some of your viewers may not agree with me but I’ve been against consuming meat for quite awhile. I don’t understand how those who “farm” and slaughter helpless animals daily can be OK in their minds. I know some people do the work that they can get for survival and I don’t blame them I just wish that these horrific actions weren’t employment options. I’m pro-medicinal marijuana farming! Well done again Scott with a very difficult topic I was scared to watch it after seeing “pig farmer” in title but I really appreciate that I did because you did a fabulous job honoring the victims! Being a woman is dangerous. Unfortunately, addiction often leads to prostitution. These factors result is us being viewed as worthless. When we go missing, we are not a priority for law enforcement. They knew about Robert for years before he was arrested. Cases like this are common thru-out North America.
    This is why I support police reform!

I always hear a lot of good things about Canada and anybody I've ever met from there is really friendly and my favorite rock and roll band is from Canada but it is very strange how soft on crime Canada is. He's released on bail after stabbing a woman six times and the charges are dismissed? Possibility of parole? I'll never understand it but anyways thanks again for another great video Scott. Total bullshit Propaganda. My ancestors were cops, warriors, and RCMP. We Canucks, are friendly, kind etc. But we will drop the mitts, and go to war with anyone. Canada, has a low crime rate, due to the fact that it is the only Nation in the America's, that didn't displace 1st Nation Peoples, or practice slavery. However like every country bad shit goes down. When happens, Canadian Cops, who are mostly all combat vets, will kick fuckin ass, when necessary. Cheers from SpoCanada.

      Our justice system is a joke and caters more to the criminals than the victims and their families. Justice doesn't exist in our country. My cousin was murdered when she was 2 and a half on Christmas eve. Her killer spent 9 years in jail and is out now. Free to live her life as she pleases. If you want to commit a crime, canada is the place to do it.

    Knew at least 5 of his victims through working in addictions. Long before he was charged I'd heard of the pig farm through. others. I'd see women missing constantly back then and after

    Very horrific. The City should plant a dense small forest. Just a bunch of trees and fence it in.

    As of today the lot still remains the same, R.I.P to all the women, these women were someones daughter, mother, sister and grandaughter the cops new lot more than they were saying, is f...ng brother would be seen in Lions park watching women and little children. His brother should of been locked up as well.

    Back in the 1990's I can recall hearing word of mouth stories of a mainland big party hangout near Vancouver called Piggys Palace. I met a few people who attended the Palace parties. Im sure they never knew the, behind the scenes horror show that would later hit the news media. I was horrified.

    The VPD at the time were just awful. Part of the delay in doing anything was internal politics. Kim Rossmo worked for them back then, he's the guy who literally invented geographic profiling. He kept trying to tell his superiors they had a serial killer but they didn't like him so they ignored it. Rossmo wanted to warn the public so women would be careful but they wouldn't let him.

    O.M.G this guy was completely revolting. It's awful he got away with it for SO long. Only consolation is knowing he is screwed come judgment day when he stands before all of his victims and the Lord.

    There should be a memorial! Who would want to remember the victims with all that stuff left sitting there on the land. Sad that the city doesn’t care about the victims and the ones who cared about them.😢❤

    My aunt/uncle/cousins lived a few farms down on Dominion Ave from Pickton. All the yards had very flimsy barbed wire dividers so we would go play around all the yards. I even lost a shoe that got got stuck in mud on his property. We used to also have our hockey wind up parties and pig roasts at his brothers piggies Palace. Their yard would have been on the right side where the school is. Back then that road was just farm land and a art knapps plant store
