- Yoane Wissa scored the winning goal as Brentford were victorious on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Gtech Community Stadium.
Bryan Mbeumo’s left-footed finish was cancelled out by an Ethan Pinnock own goal after the break, but Wissa netted on 76 minutes and the Bees withstood some late Palace pressure to get the 2024/25 campaign off to a perfect start.

Yeah, flekken in goal, he wasnt able to perform to anywhere near the level he did at Freiburg last season, and although there were some fairly big errors today, he was largely very good and some good saves. Just dawdled on the ball too much, bit lacking in confidence still I think

Not having commentators is understandable for a smaller club, but having each sequence start half a second before the final shot/pass is taking the piss! You have to give the viewer a moment to orientate themselves, and you have to give them the actual buildup to a chance, not just "the ball is magically in the penalty area and look someone took a shot".
