Thank you for making this video! The Chinese Ki-61-I- otsu was the first plane I had a truly great game in air RB (despite being a 109 player since 2015. 😅) Since then, I fell in love with the machine and wish more people talked about the Ki-61's. Those cannons are devastating! Once again, thank you for making this video!
@@dragoontype00alphaz19 Ki61's a turnfighter--but not quick-roller like the 190. You need big circles to get on people's tails, not trying high-deflection snapshots. Make use of a little altitude to compensate for your lack of engine power. You'd think it would climb better with it's big wingspan, but again, engine cripples it.
Yeah but the tei is the weakest in my opinion, the heavyier armament is not worth sacrificing the climb rate. the version with the 4x 12.5mm is actually really strong, good amount of ammo, energy retention is decent and good usage of flaps make it a serious dogfighter. I think it's called otsu.
I watched this just to do some research and get some advice for revisiting the Ki-61 series. I didn't expect to witness one of the best clutches I've ever seen in a prop battle.
I've had city maybe a dozen times with props in the last year playing this game... it's not terribly common but fun every time. There's way too many capture the airfield missions in arcade...
Hell yeah WeBe the Tei is my favorite out of all the Ki-61's only because of the air spawn lol it's ok in ARB if you know how to use it and in GRB it's pretty good because it can hold two 250's and the cannons do good damage usually run the Chi-Nu II with it good combo imo
@@WeBeStronk Lucky! I think it's actually SHIFT + many keys as default (Q,W,E,R, etc). Usually only happens during a dogfight, and always switches all guns to pew pews, lol.
If I’m right - doesn’t the Ki-61 have the 109’s engine? It was either that or the guns, but I know they had one thing that they shared. What makes me think the engine is that I read somewhere that the Ha-40 was a derivative of the 109’s engine (which was also installed upside-down)
That was a great match Gaijin is constantly making german / russian vehicles/planes better than the rest silently. They can't stand their own faction not being immortal
imagine being less than 1 mile away, and flying away from an enemy that's not only slower, but going to kill an ally. i bet if the p38 were almost killed in a dogfight, you would fly over and "help".
When I played it and realized it’s engine power and then beat a spitfire in a pure turn fight I realized this is just a bf109 THAT CAN TURN which is insane as someone who grinded the entire German line on the f4 before switching to Japan now. Like this thing can out energy most planes at its br and the ones it cant keep up with will NEVER turn with you, it beats everything but a pure Zero in the right hands. But even against something that might possibly be able to turn with you, they won’t climb with you in the turn ugh this plane is crazy
Takeo Doi did an apprenticeship with Blomm Voss and seemed influenced by a lot of European aircraft but probably more by Hienkel's 100 than a109 despite the DB601.
All that yapping about energy, I'll break it to you. Tei variant has 0.4 horsepower to weight ratio, and its average climb rate is 11m per second. Ki-61 ko climbs at 17m. Tei variant is 450kg heavier. It's an entirely different aircraft. If you remember Tei as the same kind as other ki-61s. @@LintSplinter
Thanks to kassidyryzer2909 for this suggestion! You have to try out these cannons... let me know what you'd like to see me play next! ❤
How about the swift f1 , ive recently unlocked it and im in a need of immidiete support, please help out by showing how to fly it properly please ❤❤

Never underestimate the power of a 190 with a bit of energy and a pair of operable flaps

The Ki-61 is a really underrated plane line when you compare it with the Zeroes and Hayabusas. Definitely deserves more recognition and respect.

seeing you turn into the p51's gun is just a pain to watch
The Ki-61 hei Tada's was my first premium and I don't regret a bit!
I'm fighting 262's in it in Ground RB 😅
Loaded Weight:
Ki-61-I Otsu = 3130kg
Ki-61-I Tei = 3470kg
it’s crazy watching a WT vid and it just looks slow but when i play it’s like im actually in the plane flying 😂
Now that i am watching this, i kind of like Japanese planes
The Hayabusa's turn like crazy. The Ki-44 has a crazy climb rate and turns well. Their only weakness is speed and weight of fire.
Thanks for doing airplane dogfighting you inspired me to play war thunder keep up the good work 😊
Thanks dude!

The cannons on the Ki-61 Tei are amazing!! Try playing it as a bomber interceptor sometime. Like you did with the Me-264 at 11:00.

Use MEC. Prop pitch at 85% and radiators at 15%. You can fully close them on cold maps or open them to 20% on desert maps. It will never overheat.

That weapon selection alt + whatever key was super annoying until i disabled them all.
I've fortunately never had that issue!

Sadly it is copy of db 601 not 605
Mid-model Ki61's (-IHei's) had MG151/20 Mausers in the wings. Late-model (like the -ITei, and -IKAIa-b rebuilds) have two Japanese Ho-5's in the nose.
That was a great match

Ki-61 is disgustingly worse than a bf.109
To be expected honestly---it has a late-109E/early-109F engine on a mid-109G body. There are--as the Viagra ads say-- "performance issues." (LOL)
