Please...these soldiers have done active duty in war zones and specialised training in their profession. They are the fittest elite soldiers who are on active duty, its not for tourists although tourists come to see thei duties. All this is real and should be respected for what it is. They work hard and are under tremendous pressure and responsibility. Personally I would stop the public getting into these zones are they are now seen as not real soldiers but toy ones on show only, this is not the case at all.

Very interesting ritual. I was perplexed as to why it was called "punishment," but was able to get an answer via google. Apparently, in 1894 Queen Victoria caught the guards drinking and gambling on duty so she ordered that an officer hold an inspection each day at 4:00 p.m. as punishment for the next 100 years. Although the "punishment" ended in 1994, Queen Elizabeth II continued the practice as tradition. Wonder if King Charles III will continue this tradition?

Perhaps you should explain that this is a video of what is called the "punishment parade", even though people are not being punished as such. This is the horsey section of the English guard. It's in London, England and this parade is a historical tradition. The men are walking funny because they are wearing horse riding boots. When one rides a horse, one is not doing much walking yourself. The horse does the walking. Those boots are designed that way for a purpose. To protect the legs of the rider.

While this bugler did not sound as bad as others in the British Army, I have heard many who cannot play. I am wondering....is this because it is a tradition that they sound so badly, or do they just not know how to play? I am surprised by this, considering the rest of what I see is spectacular?

Oh, the pomp and circumstuff of the British! It certainly is a long and varied history, but IMO, things should be more about why a tradition is upheld, versus that something is just a tradition, so it "should" be upheld, issue.
I am no particular fan of the British monarchy, but it will be interesting to see what decisions are made from here.
It has been an emotional process to see the events play out of Queen Elizabeth's funeral, etc. I hope the family members take time to rest and recover, personally.
The energy I felt of the mass of people expressing their respect for her is impressive. It just makes me wonder why that same energy is not harnessed to improve the welfare of this earth, and of our fellow humans, rather then everyone going back to the "fighting for position" that is inherent in human our psyche, without end. That requires a focus on principles of truth that most of the world thinks it "already has" (but does not live), or that it chooses to not care to believe. Until that changes, regardless of our "chosen idols", we will never find leadership strong enough to enable us to change. That requires a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing else will ever suffice, without it. 🕊

For us, the public, we cannot see anything wrong, but the inspection proves that there may be faults. Everything has to be perfect, no buttons undone, no filthy boots, no stains on jackets or unpolished gold colour body armour. This is why these parades look elegant and smart. This is what public come too. Those perfectly dressed soldiers. Those healthy horses must cost a fortune to look after. Besides, if there’s no public to see them, what’s the point in spending millions on keeping thousands of royal guards? This is how the royals generate money for the family and country. Much needed boost to the failing economy was created by Her Majesty who worked until her final moments. May she rest in peace. However, how many bears in Canada were slaughtered to make the head wear for the queen’s guards? As much they live horses and corgis, they lack kindness towards the bears. Those royal guards are on display, the royal family itself is on display for the public who love to see them and the pompous parades. Even after her death, Her late Majesty helped the local businesses, the florists and bars and many other small businesses to generate the much needed income to the businesses. Bringing in the world leaders must’ve cost a fortune. How else can the royal pay towards the cost of those polished cars and petrol. Then among them were the police, the bodyguards and other security officers. Those volunteers, would they get a recognition for their service to the crown?

I’ve had numerous connecting flights at Heathrow and Gatwick, but I’ve never seen London. Each time I plan a visit, I’ve checked out YT videos, and seen nothing but narrow streets crammed with double-decker buses, and hordes of loud and rude tourists. The way palace guards are taunted is especially infuriating. I love English culture and history, but I’ll stick to videos that I can switch off if necessary.
