The Assam Rifles were a major part of the WW2 battles of Imphal and Kohima, judged by the British Army Museum to be the greatest battles in British history, greater even than D-Day and Waterloo!

How are parades like this grouped? There are 12 files which appear to be grouped into threes, is each file a platoon, a couple of squads or what?
It's grouped as
Contingent Commander
4 or 3 platoon commanders
And then it's decided by the contingent commander how much soldiers we need to be at the back

Assam Rifles is a misnomer. They are basically Gurkhas
Uncle-ji - you are wrong. The entire North East used to be called Assam till it was divided into 7 states.The Assam Rifles have mainly tribal and non-tribal peoples from all over North East India - and yes, some of them may be Nepalis - including Gurkhas, Sherpas, etc.. but they may constitute a small group. The locals of the North East has distinguished themselves fighting the Mughals and later the Japanese in WW2 and now all over along with the Indian Army.
Right you are. But the make up of the Assam rifles hardly has much representation form the Assamese in the force. Yes, the nagas, Manipuris and Mizos helped out to defeat the Japanese in WW2 Except for Sher Shah Suri during Hamayun's time did reach Assam but the British missionaries opened the hills where the head hunters used to live.@@Ari_00X
