Got my PPL in 1979 flying out of Palo Alto. HMB was a very fun destination. Park at transient, walk to a great lunch, check out the beach, then back over the hill to PAO. Always amazed me how my home airport was towered with a 2400' runway and HMB is uncontrolled with 5000'. I understand it is because of the military listening post they needed the bigger runway. Anyway thank for bringing back great memories and looking forward to more great videos.
I fly an SR22T out of KLVK, and love to go do approaches at WVI, HAF, SNS, MRY etc. It's amazing we get all of this ability to practice and keep current in actual.
Can a long time Cirrus owner and pilot give you an advice? Please pull the seatbelts down to your waist before you tighten them! That's much safer - but also LOOKS much better (;-)) Great video and good flying! I'm from Germany but I've rented an SR22 in S.F. and flew to HMB for lunch once :-)
the relief when ground contact shows in the comms, that seemed like a bumpy approach, scary for sure. "ah no I can look it up here on foreflight" now that I can relate to 😂
KHAF is one of my favorite airports to fly into and get approaches in with actual instrument conditions. I have a few videos on my channel doing just that. Thanks for sharing this one!

Not logged a few hours out of PAO so far but have shot this approach many times in MSFS. It’s too bad the sim changed their live weather that killed the marine layer. It used to work great. Beautiful sunset and landing.
Very nice. Did you hand fly the IMC approach. I also get the red shift on the PFD/MFD< when I turned up the brightness, it went away. I wanted to ask what you are using to mount the instrument camera please?
Enjoyed the video. I am currently in ground school and working on finding an instructor. I enjoy the procedural stuff with control and your checklists and briefing you do even by yourself. helps me learn.
Hard to say since I have never flown a non-turbo SR22. I am sure maintenance would be very similar and when it comes to fuel flow, I can fly for 4.5 hours before needing to refuel which at that point, it's time to stretch your legs. However, if you want to fly in the summer / mountains a turbo is a must because you probably wouldn't be able to conduct the flight in a non turbo with confidence. Hope that helps!
@@westcoastflyerit does. Thank you. Your IFR landing into Carlsbad was just incredible. I hope to get to that level one day. Only 10.5 hours in to my PPL.
Haha that’s a funny way to put it! Well, both cameras are shooting the same exact quality. One has to be a little bit zoomed in because of GoPro’s affect. I have an audio cable to the one facing me so that I don’t have to match the audio with my voice / camera which is very difficult. I have three different cameras running, and I tried to spread out all the different shots accordingly. Sounds like I just need an additional audio cable. Thanks for your comment 🫡
Dude I have watched you fly over my house by the elementary school west of the field on final a few times. Should have followed my dream and got my license when I was younger
Never too late, got my license at 37 and decided to become a flight instructor. Many pilots learn to fly in their 50s & 60s! Listen to that dream, because it doesn’t go away.

Wow that’s amazing! Thank you very much for sharing sir. 2,400’ towered runway that’s sweet!
Take care!
I watched your plane fly over my house! What a beautiful aircraft you have. Thanks for posting 👍
Thank you!

Very nice video. Just got back from visiting Half Moon Bay. Thanks for sharing your flight!
Oh nice! Hope you had a nice visit.
Absolutely thanks for watching!
Beautiful approach Blaze. See you around the airport.
Thank you!

Thank you!
Me encanta ese avión. Pronto tendré uno de ellos
Very cool!

Must have felt amazing when you were finally able to buy an airplane like that.
Trust fund.

IFR like a pro! Just subscribed and looking forward to more.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
that’s awesome want to do this approach half moon bay is almost always foggy
Another good one! Just bought my first airplane, a Bonanza F33 and looking forward to approaches this one! Keep the vids coming :)
Congrats on your new plane! Thank you!
I live in Roseville, it’s crazy to see the Sacramento skyline in your videos lol. Great videos man keep it up.
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
Amazing approach and that sunset. I flew my Cessna into McClellan a week ago. I think I saw Rio Linda just to the west of it.
Amazing! Come land next time!

Glad it was helpful! Best of luck with training. In you’re from NorCal hit up Mach 5 Aviation!
Central Valley, but thanks for the tip

Good work 😊
What a thrill to go from perfect sunny skies to an overcast world. Too bad you were not able to camp there overnight.
You know it! Crazy flying into what looks like another world.
Wish I could’ve stayed.
Thank you for the great videos. Do you fly for a living? Or is flying a hobby?
Both!
nice video! I noticed you have a A30 in the back but using an A20. You like the A20 better?
I preferred the A20s. Maybe mine were a dud but they sounded a lot worse than the A20s.
Skills!!
Nice approach into Half Moon Bay. Have you been skiing? What are you running on the course? 32 - 35?
Thank you! Nationals this week!
@@westcoastflyer I hope you take video. Would love to see what you run on the course. Good luck!
Where you there in Sac when I got my Golden Puppy on the field? - --
Haha yeah man over in Yolo right? Cutest pup I’ve ever seen!
L36 doesn’t have an IAP. Where’s your back-up local airport destination when you cannot land in VMC? Just curious.
KMCC next door!
Just curious, what made you choose the SR22T?
So many reason!
1. Safety
2. Avionics
3. Payload
4. Cost to maintain (it’s not a jet)
5. Ability to get into short runways
6. Good step up aircraft
For those of you in Rio Linda, this is an airplane.
😂
Were those sparks (left side) as you touched down?
Negative. Lights from plane and also runway lights.
Baggage door open?
no? how come you ask that?
Great video and beautiful bird! I live near Rio Linda and fly a 182 out of NutTree. I hope to go up in a Cirrus one day.
Nut Tree cool! I hope to hear you in the skies.
Take care!
What’s your thoughts on the turbo Vs non turbo with respect to performance, fuel burn, maintenance, etc?
Hard to say since I have never flown a non-turbo SR22.

Why put the better quality camera facing you and not out front? No offense, but I'd rather look forward than stare at you.

That runway is horribly maintained!
