Good reaction, thanks! I discovered BABYMETAL just three years ago after they released their third album, "Metal Galaxy". After my initial shock, the binge watching and reading everything I possibly could find on the Internet I was asking myself if a group like this make sense once they grow up. Some time later and a few Blu-rays in, I realized that my initial thought was stupid. Their live performances in 2020 and 2021 were incredible and this new song just confirmed it. I'm liking a lot this new BABYMETAL and I believe this is the right way to go. Although I expect something crazier later in the album. 😁
I'm a Die Hard NW Army-ist. But i love BABYMETAL too. I've actually seen them once, and in the spring 2023, they'll go on tour with Sabaton (where the drummer Hannes is Floor Jansens Husband). Anyway. In April 2023, I'll se BM in Oslo, Norway for the 2nd time. Yui left in 2018, so now BM is Su-Metal (vocals)and Moa-metal (dancer, backup vocals). In their tour in 2019-20 (the show in Oslo was literally 2 weeks before the lockdown), they had three other girls that circulated as the third dancer on stage. Those was called "the Avengers". Those three are Kano, Momoko and Riho. I simply don't know if one or more of them joins BM on the tour next year, or if it will be only Su and Moa. Im looking forward to the show where I will experience both Sabaton and BABYMETAL. (and the finnish band Lordi). Fun fact. In the BABYMETAL song Oh! Great reaction, I wish other reactors would take your approach and judge the song good or bad on its merits and not let prejudged opinions take over the reaction. As a hardcore Babymetal fan this song does not blow me away but then it isn't bad either, I think it does enough to make you want to hear what else they have come up with and that was probably their goal with this release.

As already confirmed below the only changes in their 12 years so far were the tragic death of one of the Kami Band guitarists (RIP Mikio Fujioka January 2018) and one of the two younger girls, Yuimetal, leaving the band in October 2018 after a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. Su-metal and Moametal chose to continue as a duo and from 2019 through 2021 they were supported by three dancers (the Averngers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take tuns dancing (but not singing) in the third spot in live shows. We have 4 more new songs to look forward to (one a month excepting December) before the Album is released in March. Thay have two shows in Japan scheduled for January and Sabaton have invited them to join their UK and Europe tour in April and May as special guests.
For the first 8 years, they were indeed 3 girls: Su, Moa and Yui. Yui left for health reasons in 2018. Su and Moa remain the only official members of Babymetal, although they have had girls dancing in Yui's position for the live shows. Babymetal released their third album in 2019, and Divine Attack is the first single off of their upcoming fourth album. They have been around for longer than most people realize, so even though they started out as pre-teens, they are now in their mid twenties. Hopefully with a long career ahead of them.
Babymetal started in 2010 when the girls were 11 and 12, so naturally their voices have matured in the last 12 years :). Yui unfortunately left the band in 2018 for unknown health reasons after a year of absence. Now Babymetal is Su-metal and Moametal. They are finally back after being a full year on hiatus and they came back with a banger song! 🤘🔥🦊
Good Reaction! They had quite a hard time selling, so I think they have a strong commitment to the original members. I think they are comrades-in-arms who have risked almost their lives to attend macho metal festivals and endured various slanders. Therefore, it is not easy to replace one member because another left the band. Sadly, I have the impression that YuiMetal has left with a broken heart.

The difference between BABYMETAL and other pop/metal experiments is that BABYMETAL tells the metal instrumentalists not to hold back.
