I'm 24 now, and I still remember my dad telling me about this when I was about 7 years old or so. I've never had to use it, but it's a good thing to remember if the situation ever arises.

Now it makes more sense as to why matadors/bullfighters use the capes. They prolly used them against fighters also.

I've seen a video of a inmate attempting to use a jacket to defend himself from a knife-weilding inmate. It did not go too well. Cloth moves around a lot and tends to stretch quite a bit, the knife will go through easily.

the gauchos in Argentina fought like this. they used knives called "facones" and a poncho. A poncho is a kind of sheep's wool cape
los gauchos en argentina peleaban así.
ellos utilizaban cuchillos llamados "facones" y un poncho.
Un poncho es una especie de capa de lana de oveja.

Hello my friend, MrJimodoom , the kunai was made by the AKBAN armories.
We do not sell anything, neither techniques, nor equipment.
Maybe in the future this will change. Right now all our effort goes into research and training.
      I apologize.

I would not fully rely on the towel as an effective barrier against cutting.. Ive seen some sharp knives cut through layers of leather like it was butter.. just as a last resort and better than bare skin. Using it as a distraction and flicking to eyes much better option

I was in tae kwon do for 7 months, I was a green belt but last monday I got beat up....I didn't hit back because I was scared, it was a mistake not to defend myself, the guy punched me on the side of the head and I couldn't think, my friend moved me away from the fight, this happened at school. I know I could've beaten his ass, I was too scared to get in trouble though, what should you do in this scenario?
