    This guy has done a lot of these,so it is easy for him. Could use more description as he works thoe. I think he hit a staple when using a flat bar under shingles, but who knows? Also nothing on laying out the hole and sawing it. I watched another video so Iknow to nail under the upper shingle, He didn't say, just a obstructed view as he nailed. C-

    No windows but i see two vents to. The left and a fan to your right that could allow gas back in when the fan is off and vented soffit everywhere. Was this inspected?

      Lois Loon, your name is fitting. Just because you don't know about something doesn't mean it's a scam. Alpha particles emitted from Radon decay products is not witchcraft because you can't see or smell them. It's actual science that has been proven time and time again for decades. I'm assuming a friend told you it was a scam and that you've never actually done empirical research. You might want to question the knowledge of that friend before you embarrass yourself.

      @@keithrogers2295 it just seems like they were almost more concerned about cosmetics. So they got this customer for two systems and a half as! Crawl space encapsulation. They were using gutter downspout connected with sheet metal screws for the downspout!. I find it hard to believe that is air tight and it passes right by windows. I didn’t hear anything about a dedicated gfci afci circuit for,the fan. Not sure why a properly sized fan couldn’t have serviced both crawl space and core hole. Now they have two constantly running fans. There is no problem with using dwv pvc inside. The crawl space is half done. It needs to,have conditioned air flowing through and probably a dehumidifier.
      Just curious what the original contractor s readings were a,d what the reading was with the first new system only and properly ventilating the crawl.
      Also I, not sure if the exit of the gutter pipe,is far enough away from the soffit.
      I’m guessing this customer dropped 10-13 grand out the. Door.

    Just asking, I didn't see the fire collars in the garage wall penetrations through the fire rated sheet rocked wall between the garage and the interior living space? That is something that the Iowa radon code has in it for us

    Very informative video. I have a new construction home with an active radon system but our readings are high. I plan on installing a manometer first on the radon pipe, I know the fan is running, then caulk all of the cracks and v joints in the slab before I connect a new pipe into my sump pit by getting a special sealed cover that uses the french drains to pull radon from a larger area. We have a 600 sq ft crawl space with pea gravel and heavy plastic sheeting over the gravel. Will I have to vent that area separately since the radon fan only draws from the main slab area? Thanks. We live in CO.

    what if a basement is finished? Do you have to caulk in the expansion joints?

    I realize this video several years old and I don't know if anybody from the company checks the comments, but I do have a question. I haven't finished basement in my house, but I'm redoing it because of the flood that damaged part of the basement. The damage part had the drywall removed the two feet, but the drywall has not been cut back in the rest of the basement. I plan on caulking as many cracks as possible before I call a radon mitigation company and to finish the job. Would it make sense to cut the drywall back and caulk the slab to wall joint behind that drywall? Or is it sufficient just to caulk where the drywall meets the slab?

    • @DavidSmithRadon
      @DavidSmithRadon  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Anywhere that is exposed you can add caulk to help seal it up! You want to caulk the foundation to the wall (if there are cracks), not to the drywall.

    Why would you cement the fan’s flexible rubber coupling to the pvc? That’s why there are hose clamps. It’ll be a bitch to change the fan rubber coupling in the future, if needed.

    • @charlesspenceii2198
      @charlesspenceii2198 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a miter saw or reciprocating saw to cut the pipe itself, I use a set of Milwaulkee Bi-Metal 3-5/8" bit and drill the holes.

      Hi Pat! For more than 20 years, we've been providing radon mitigation in the Central Illinois area. About 3 years ago we launched www.davidsmithradon.com as a wholesale business to provide supplies and tools needed for professional mitigators across the country. This video is designed to help mitigators with some tools of the trade, and we hope that it also educates homeowners of what a radon system being installed in your home might look like. Thanks!

    Did Dan and the consumer meet? Because I worry about the consumer and Dan's actions. Where did Brian come from and does he know Dan? Has the consumer been introduced to Brian? Is the home modern? Tell me more about that bit. Sears is out of business. Where can I buy a Shop vac? ABS plywood? Huh? Can I get one of your stickers? Brian is great! What happened to Dan? Where did he go? Nice work, Brian. This verbiage on the sticker sounds mysterious. Inquiring minds want to know! I'll call tomorrow per instructions! Roller skating? I love roller skating! I think that's Dan skating. Why doesn't Brian get to skate? Ryobi is the best! Glad you got rid of those more expensive cock guns! Cock everything. That's what I've always said! Cracks and crevices must be filed! Nick? WTF! Is Nick related to either Dan or Brian? Nick is a good cocker! Anybody that knows cock can see that! Welcome back, Dan! Dan and his elbow seem to be a recurring theme. #weird? Time is money! I'll take two, please! Cosmetics and aesthetics are everything, amirite? Garage is the way to go! Dan gets a speaking role? #royalties! I've really learned a lot! Thank you for this video!
