Tasks:
Installation and Setup:
Install CloudSim on your computer or laptop.
Download and install the following software:
Commons-math3-3.6.1.jar
Eclipse IDE for Java Developers
JDK Development Kit 17.0.7
CloudSim-3.0.3
Follow the step-by-step installation process provided in the attached helping guide.
Refer to the video tutorial for CloudSim setup on Eclipse: Cloud Sim setup on Eclipse.
CloudSim Example Modification:
Watch the CloudSim Example 2 video: Cloudsim Example 2: a datacenter with one host, two virtual machines and two cloudlets.
Modify CloudSim Example 2 according to the following scenario:
Create a cloud datacenter with the name "DC_studentID".
The datacenter should have one host machine with two Virtual Machines (VMs):
VM1: 100 Million Instructions Per Second (MIPS)
VM2: 150 Million Instructions Per Second (MIPS)
Five tasks (Cloudlets) with the following computation requirements:
T0: 120 Million Instructions (MI)
T1: 200 Million Instructions (MI)
T2: 140 Million Instructions (MI)
T3: 250 Million Instructions (MI)
T4: 180 Million Instructions (MI)
The tasks are compute-intensive (CPU bound) and need to be allocated on a space-shared (non-preemptive) basis.
Use the following mapping:
VM1 (100 MIPS): T0, T2, T4
VM2 (150 MIPS): T1, T3
Performance Metrics Calculation:
Calculate the following metrics based on the given scenario:
Expected Maximum Execution Time (Makespan):
The total time required to complete all tasks.
Throughput:
The number of tasks completed per unit time.
Average Resource Utilization Ratio (ARUR):
The average utilization of the VM resources during the simulation period.
Deliverables:
A detailed report that includes:
Installation steps and screenshots of the setup process.
Modified CloudSim code for the given scenario.
Calculations and explanations of makespan, throughput, and ARUR.
Submit the report in PDF format.
Upload all relevant code files and screenshots as a zip file along with the report.
