I was in the Conference centre when this was performed. I had just heard the prophet speak to conclude the session. It was my first time I had seen Conference for real, as at wife and I had traveled from England to Salt Lake for a two week holiday. This was one of the many great moments of an incredible holiday which will always be remembered and cherished whole heartedly. The harmonies and the key change brought tears to my eyes listening to the magnificent choir for real. In the Saviours' church there are many wonderful moments like this.
How often in music do key changes just not work: they so often add nothing. But here they lift the beautiful music up to even greater heights. It is a sublime arrangement.
Such a beautiful hymn. Wonderfully written lyrics and melody. One of my all time favorites. Close your eyes and let it take you away from the troubles of the world
Love divine, all loves excelling Joy of Heaven to Earth come down Fix in us Thy humble dwelling All Thy faithful mercies crown Jesus, Thou art all compassion Pure, unbounded love Thou art Visit us with Thy salvation Enter every trembling heart Breathe, O breathe, Thy loving spirit Into every troubled breast Let us all in Thee inherit Let us find that promised rest Take away the love of sinning Alpha and Omega be End of faith, as its beginning Sets our hearts at liberty Come almighty to deliver Let us all Thy life receive Suddenly return and never Never more Thy temples leave Thee we would be always blessing Serve Thee as Thy hosts above Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing Glory in Thy perfect love Finish then Thy new creation Pure and spotless let us be Let us see Thy great salvation Perfectly restored in Thee Changed from glory into glory 'Til in Heaven we take our place 'Til we cast our crowns before Thee Lost in wonder, love and praise 'Til we cast our crowns before Thee Lost in wonder, love and praise Amen
This is a stunning beautiful and excellent performance. I remember this from Episcopal Church in the 60's when I was growing up. I can't imagine a better choral or organ performance. It's absolutely sublime. But I'm confused. The TUNE I definitely remember, but I don't know if the words were from the hymn "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" or "Love Define, All Love Excelling". And I distinctly recall the Episcopalien hymnal saying the tune was HYFRYDOL, yet I see also Love Devine, All Love Excelling is done with a tune called BEECHER. So which is this: BEECHER or HYFRYDOL? Other performances to be found on TH-cam say the tune is HYFRYDOL.
To make matters more confusing, a list I have of favoriate Episcopalien hymns lists BOTH Love Devine, All Loves Excelling and also Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, and further says that a hymn called "Allelujia, Sing To Jesus" is done to the same tune as Love Devine, All Loves Excelling.
Mystery solved: hymn 657 in the Episcopal church is Love Devine, All Loves Excelling and is the tune HYFRYDOL. Come Thou Long Expected Jesus in Episcopal Church is set to a different tune. But in at least one other denomination Come Thou Long Expected Jesus is set to HYFRYDOL, which is why I was confused.
A friend of mine just posted a beautiful rendition of "I will Sing the Wondrous Story" on TH-cam and I realized it's exactly the same tune. I wonder who is credited with writing the tune on each of them.
@@jpalmercma I know that the tune Hyfrydol (used here) is a Welsh tune written by Rowland Pritchard in 1811. As well as the hymn "I will Sing the Wondrous Story" you referenced, the tune is also used in the Lutheran church in the hymn "Our Great Savior". And there is probably a lot more out there. I guess back then in the 19th century there were copyrights getting in anyone's way.

Still listening to this 3 years later, and I'm no less moved by it than I was then.
I cant help crying. I was so moved. How lovely when people all gather, praise Him and give Him due honor!
Wesley's poetry combined with Willberg's genius means an old Methodist hymn is UPGRADED TO DEFCON EPIC!
Beautifully measured and controlled. Exultant yet reverent and holy! Well done.
Such a beautiful hymn. Wonderfully written lyrics and melody. One of my all time favorites. Close your eyes and let it take you away from the troubles of the world
This is the most beautiful rendition of this hymn I've ever heard.
Totally love this beautiful hymnal, so comforting and soothing, lifts the heart and soul, thank you.

Heaven
This song is amazingly beautiful. can someone post the words please
Love divine, all loves excelling
Joy of Heaven to Earth come down
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling
All Thy faithful mercies crown
Jesus, Thou art all compassion
Pure, unbounded love Thou art
Visit us with Thy salvation
Enter every trembling heart
Breathe, O breathe, Thy loving spirit
Into every troubled breast
Let us all in Thee inherit
Let us find that promised rest
Take away the love of sinning
Alpha and Omega be
End of faith, as its beginning
Sets our hearts at liberty
Come almighty to deliver
Let us all Thy life receive
Suddenly return and never
Never more Thy temples leave
Thee we would be always blessing
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above
Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing
Glory in Thy perfect love
Finish then Thy new creation
Pure and spotless let us be
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee
Changed from glory into glory
'Til in Heaven we take our place
'Til we cast our crowns before Thee
Lost in wonder, love and praise
'Til we cast our crowns before Thee
Lost in wonder, love and praise
Amen
Magnifique!!!Excellent

AND, apparently Charles Wesley is wrote the words to both Love Devine, All Loves Excelling, and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus...

Fabulous 😎
😭😭😭😩❤️
I recognize the tune, but I can't understand the words - if only they wouldn't slur the words. Lovely tone, though.
Love divine, all loves excelling
Joy of Heaven to Earth come down
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling
All Thy faithful mercies crown
Jesus, Thou art all compassion
Pure, unbounded love Thou art
Visit us with Thy salvation
Enter every trembling heart
Breathe, O breathe, Thy loving spirit
Into every troubled breast
Let us all in Thee inherit
Let us find that second rest
Take away the love of sinning
Alpha and Omega be
End of faith, as its beginning
Sets our hearts at liberty
Come almighty to deliver
Let us all Thy life receive
Suddenly return and never
Never more Thy temples leave
Thee we would be always blessing
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above
Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing
Glory in Thy perfect love
Finish then Thy new creation (Finish then Thy new creation)
Pure and spotless let us be (Pure and spotless let us be)
Let us see Thy great salvation (Let us see Thy great salvation)
Perfectly restored in Thee (Perfectly restored in Thee)
Changed from glory into glory (Changed from glory into glory)
'Til in Heaven we take our place ('Til in Heaven we take our place)
'Til we cast our crowns before Thee ('Til we cast our crowns before Thee)
Lost in wonder, love and praise
'Til in Heaven we take our place
'Til we cast our crowns before Thee
Lost in wonder, love and praise
Listen to it again with the lyrics before you.
I love the way the amen was sung.exceedingly wonderful.
