As a manga reader who has seen almost everything this guy makes. I couldn't be more excited my only hope is he introduces each story like a horror show host.
There was a meme going around where they depicted Junji Ito as this bright, upbeat fellow despite his dark horror stories (and he loves his cat). In contrast, there's Hayao Miyazaki, best known for his Ghibli films, who is more negative and depressed.

I love how he said that he’s happy to see his stories as an Anime for the first time, Basically disregarding and retconning the “Junji Ito collection” That came out years ago. It is so wonderful to see his works properly and professionally displayed, finally.

Lately my art has been changing from normal realism to now horror surrealism over the years.I noticed how much this man influenced my art and I absolutely love it.
this is exciting! first time i saw his work was almost a decade ago. his art style is so unique and seems tangible to a certain level. can’t wait to see this!
I love Ito as an artist, his sheer optimism when describing his work and warping real life and the mundane into something horrific and frightening. He really reminds me of the way David Lynch seems so optimistic and friendly even though his work can be similarly grotesque and dark. Truly a king and a top tier artist to boot.
If only the third one was about the boy in the empty mansion, these are his powerhouses. If done right, Tomie could blow up the internet. So many people are already, coincidentally, obsessed with her.
He is from my town and I met him when I was in high school ! (Over 20 years ago)I was big fan of Soichi and he signed on the comic :) I didn't expect he would be so famous back then ! Wow I am so happy people all over the world loves his comic !! ❤️
Bring it on Junji Ito-sensei. I have been a fan of yours for more than 10 years now! Gyo and Uzumaki was and still is the epitome of horror manga. Thanks Netflix for adapting them.

@@alexandravas.3131 it should be good considering it’s directed by Hiroshi nagahama who if you don’t know is the director of the highly praised series Mushishi which is also an anthology and very atmospheric like the Uzumaki Manga is. On the other hand anilist says it’s only gonna be 4 episodes and I don’t see that being enough to fully adapt it unless the episodes are longer than normal

This is so exciting as a long time fan who has read everything junji its has made! Honestly surprised Netflix had not made a series or adaptation on his works before now! Just can't think of anyone else who can present horror like he can.
So many amazing short stories I’d love to see animated. “I don’t want to be a ghost” and “Earthbound” would be really cool, same with “The Beautiful Boy at the Crossroads.” Still so excited for Tomie and Uzumaki though!

It's funny how I have not read even one of his horror manga, and am already so fond of him by his old, humble demeanor and spirally artstyle illustrations! Actually got to know of Junji Ito since the Uzumaki anime was announced by Toonami in 2019, and then afterwards became fond of him by his scary/cuteness level reaction video by Crunchyroll!! And his adorable love of cats! ❤️😍❤️
Why do I have the feeling it's going to be same like before in terms of the design (a.k.a The Junji Ito Collection). I mean the animators are trying their hardest but they should follow the author's out of this world design including the characters' emotions and stuff. I'm a huge fan of Junji Ito and his works can really gives you the creeps but his art style is superb. I hope they will give justice and I hope it will include Frankenstein. Its often hard to adapt highly detailed still illustrations into colorized and moving animation most time, few excetions would be violet evergarden, but best example of this failure would be berserk, doesnt really translate all the way through

I was so hyped for Uzumaki but I was introduced to Tomie first a few years ago and was hoping to see a true animated version of the Manga like they're doing with Uzumaki so...we'll have to wait and see. Tomie is my absolute favorite so I'm excited regardless!

I mean, if they managed to capture the essence of reading a Junji Ito book in animation (something the Junji Ito Collection anime felt was lacking) then they've properly did a good adaptation of the stories he'd created

It’s so hard to believe he is the one who made these stories he seems like such a sweet wholesome man who would know how to calm you down from a panic attack I love his work!❤

This is not the first time Junji Ito's work is turned into anime, there are movies and there's that kinda bad anime from some years ago, I just hope that the new animators understand why the manga is so good at make you uneasy and that creepy feeling.

Well, Ito is a very sweet guy. He adores his wife and cats most in the world.
He litterally has a manga dedicated to his life with his wife (then girlfriend) and their cats

Toonami (adult swim) is also doing a direct uzumaki anime but it keeps getting postponed. It seems like it’s set to come out this fall though!!
