I enjoy both skyrim and dark souls. I enjoy dark souls more because the gameplay actually exists and is challenging. Skyrim is pretty and entertaining, but jesus is the combat dull.
Luigi Samele So true, I love both games but the combat in skyrim is almost pointless. The game is fun but the dark souls combat gets even better as you improve yourself ( not just your character)
DAEDRADONKEY Adding more HP to enemies does not make a game more difficult. Well, on some stage it does, but it's completely artificial. Fun difficult combat is fast-paced, dynamic and strategic. Boring difficult combat is hacking an enemy for 30 minutes and pausing every two seconds to heal.
@@tianm740 I honestly never played souls that much at all but dragons Dogma combat is very well done with rather complex mechanics and amazing boss fights. I will warn you though the leveling is a bit weird to understand and there's many other little things that are important to know such as when creating your character because height and weight play a huge role in your play style as well. It's definitely a survival open world rpg with fairly smart AI combat. No joke one of the best rpgs I've ever played in a very long time. The story honestly is a bit mediocre but the overall game is incredible. You can also create your own pawn as a companion and share your pawns with other players online. I have like 5 different pawns you could hire for free if you ever felt interested in the future just hmu.
+randomintrestsperson Budget constraints, technical issues, unexpected events. Many reasons are to blame for fact that this video could have been better. But we choose to keep looking past this.
@ Obama's third husband You don’t really pick a race, only origin and class, etc. Also, every Dark Souls NPC looks better than any Elder Scrolls NPC Lmao
william portillo Nah, that's not the reason. That moon kid in Anor Londo tried to touch me with his snakes. Never again will I look at that white ball in the sky the same way.
I love everyone arguing. I like both for different reasons. Skyrim is more relaxing, looks better, and I feel like the class system is much less rigid However, I love Dark Souls' combat style and the boss fights. Both are fun and both have great ambiance. Praise the Sun
Ya, plus Skyrim has better mods. Basically if I want to play a spell user, I do it in Skyrim cause that game does magic better. If I want to melee, I head over to dark souls. Also I modded Skyrim to be pretty difficult, so to me there's not much difference between the two in that regard.
***** Mods do not count as they are made by players, it's like saying i can mod DS2 to make it look better but DS2 is not about the graphics just like you mod Skyrim to make it more difficult.
***** They do count because the vast majority of games are not moddable, and certainly not moddable on the scale that Skyrim is. When they made the game, Bethesda specifically made sure it was moddable - they even provided software with which to mod it. From Software didn't do any of that - like you said, you can make the game prettier, or look different, but that's it. Moddability is a feature of Skyrim, go check out the Skyrim Nexus to check out the sheer scale of this feature.
***** i know i played skyrim for like 400 hours and i got to the point where you couldn't find any vanilla stuff...but that's exactly my point, i do agree that it is a feature of the game, but technically not part of it as it was made by players, not the developers (the mods, not the moddability) if we are going to judge both games we have to do so by looking at the game fresh and unmodded. IMO, DS was more intense and engaging, therefore i like it more, but Skyrim was also a masterpiece.
When I started getting into Dark Souls, I got so lost. Nothing indicated where I needed to go except for a few hints. All the areas can be conqured in different orders, and there are so many hidden weapons that can make things easier for you. And honestly, I feel scared when going into darker areas because I don't know what's ahead. Yeah, I admit it, I am scared of a game that isn't meant to be scary.
***** It is mean to be scary, just not in the jump scare or "look I'm spooo-ooky" way. It's haunting, atmospheric, and oppressive, and from a gameplay standpoint every fight carries the threat of death, and the incredible tension that goes along with it.
You missed the point of Darksouls. 1) Dovahkiin cannot respawn at the Bonfire. He is not a bearer of the Darksign and therefore his death would be permanent. Only bearers of the Darksign respawn and go Hollow. 2) When the Darksign activates, it takes all humanity and souls, turning the ebarer into a undead. 3) Monsters are 1:1 your size? What kind of Darksouls is this? The tutorial?
***** but in skyrim you dont have a place where you have to balancing to cross a tiny brigde with giant baldes that gona push you off the edge all while battling a guy with bleed effect in font and got another shoot lighting at your back.
as i mentioned, only a moron would jump into blades while getting attacked, unfix pc version? i remember playing it on launch ps3 people invading on every turn. pvp sure thats difficult depending on the player, but sens fortress makes it easier to distance you and said enemy phantom to heal..
I guess being stuck in the middle of the night with a pack of wolves chasing you and having to sacrifice your horse in order to get a head start doesn't count as intense.
+Ichabod Locust well the armors weapons, extras (chests and stuff) and also the landscapes are nice but yeah it wouldve been better without the terrible special effects^^
I referred mostly to storyline. The effort put in is inarguable, and amateur special effects are acceptable, considering, but there's never an excuse for lack of story, and 7 solid minutes of really poor, disorienting screen cuts. I had no idea what went on by the end, besides mayhaps random LARPing cut up into seamed chunks.
This comment section is so cringey. I love Skyrim and Dark Souls equally. They're both amazing games. Skyrim has a beautiful world, many interesting characters and places. It's also a simpler game, easier to get into, more accessible for everyone. Dark Souls on the other hand has more interesting game play, has less characters but with greater story behind them. It's also a very difficult game to get into, many people get turned away by the difficulty. Seeing these elitist assholes on both sides makes me sad to see that they're part of two communities I love, when they should clearly go back to CoD and git gud before playing these masterpieces.
i hope they make a 2 player skyrim remake moddable servers included plus since they added voice selection and actual talking in EOS from your character they could add that mayby probobly not but a multiplayer one sounds cool to stop OP only one player is dovakhin but difficulty is doubled ( PAST THIS IS EDITED ) and i guess mayby they could let player 2 learn dragonshouts but player one is the one they referr to as DOVAHKIIN
I believe Dark Souls is the better game, but... Skyrim took over two years of my life. I think that counts for something. Skyrim was such a good game to sit back, relax, and roleplay to. The first couple times through, learning tidbits of lore and discovering new quests was awesome. Afterwards, blasting through what I used to think were challenges and creating super-OP characters was awesome. Even after a year or two break from the game, going back and getting a rush of nostalgia was- you guessed it- awesome. While I feel that Dark Souls is a better game, Skyrim will always hold a place in my mind.
Atlas i mean hes right. if you are looking only for combat systems, games like witcher and dark souls will always beat skyrim... simply because skyrim is less focused on combat. they are both great games... and i like them equally... but each has its strengths. there are sooooo many more ways to play skyrim than there are ds games. they fall into the same genre, so they can be compared pretty easily. that said... everyone should just get both lol lets be real
chowderxillia Not really. Considering the Dovahkin's stamina regens slower.. He wouldn't be able to use bonfires since he's not dead. And the Dovahkin is clumsy in comparison to the DKS characters. The largest thing Dovahkin gets to fight in Skyrim is Dragons - which are midgets compared to most of the DKS enemies. You also have to consider the difficulties between the two games. Skyrim doesn't throw surprises at the players because Bethesda expects the players to be stupid; and this shows in the world around Dovahkin; where he's pretty much treated like the hero in a world of fucking retards.
+ULTIMATE POTATO FROM HELL But Ornstein has killed dragons from the age of ancients, who are most likely more powerful than the ones in skyrim (except for Alduin maybe).
tko demo mid air? The big guy with the hammer that killed him like 6 times? Could ahve fus'ed him... Could have used etherial shout then jumped down the ledge.
+Andrew Espinoza You know where everything is in Dark Souls because exploration is almost required. In skyrim you can do whatever you want but most of the quests are exactly the same.
+Andrew Espinoza dark souls has the best lore or atleast that on par with skyrim it has much much better lvl design and ds has probably the best story telling i ve ever seen and im a big book and movies nerd
+Andrew Espinoza Yeah I would say Skyrim has better defined lore but only because there were 4 other full games before it. I do think that Dark Souls does a better job of presenting it though. While it does have some really obscure info (item descriptions, really?) I still prefer it to all the books in skyrim. If you haven't played the previous 4 elder scrolls games there is basically no point. Dark souls leaves a lot of its lore up to speculation, only hinting at what actually happened.
Guys, stop giving these people such a hard time okay? This film is by no means perfect, and yes it could have been a lot more. But not everyone has a massive budget or time or technology to invest into a FAN MADE FILM. Could the voice acting have been more solid, could more have been added that doesn't require much more money be given? Yeah, but the fact that these people produced this short film with their limited resources is still good enough. I enjoyed watching the video, and while I wish it took itself more seriously and had more to it, I still don't think it's fair to the directors to give them no credit. They did what they could, and I'm sure they had fun doing it. And I sure enjoyed watching it.
it wasn't the worst but the dragon born didn't use a single shout in the entire video and his armor was that of a novice. It says he was the hero of sovengard so he must've defeated alduin yet he can't defeat a simple grunt in dark Souls 2? That is the reason I disliked the video they made the Hero of Skyrim lose repeatedly to a grunt they could've made the grunt into a more powerful enemy at the least. and can a living being light the bonfires? I thought you had to be undead?
Niles Miller That was the whole point. It was meant to show the big difference between other games and the souls series. Even if you're an ultra badass war machine, you can still die to easy enemies. Just this morning I played Bloodborne, and I'm already a badass in there as it is... got killed by a Phtumerian in the chalice dungeon... AKA basic grunt. It's not cause I suck at the game, it's because it's a souls game.
+Jason Alcatraz maybe but it's to unrealistic in skyrim your aim has to be better in melee than darksouls yet he still missed a non dodging opponent saying that skyrim is easier is bs as well as you can set the difficulty higher as well and can't respawn at a bonfire. The representation of the dovahkin isn't done very well. Again if they wanted to show the dovahkin being frustrated time and time again Dying... (which after the first time he should die not having the mark of the undead) then they should of made him face off against a Black Knight at the LEAST.
Niles Miller Again, that's inaccurate to say. I've played Dark Souls and Skyrim, and they're two completely different frontiers. Especially because you have no reticle to aim in the souls games, so if you're used to a reticle, you'll aim a little harder in the souls frontier. And of course the reason to give him the mark of the undead, is to give reason to the respawning.
Yes but he never got the mark hence why I brought it up there's a reason there's 5k dislikes and that's because they did a poor job merging to games for a skyrim vs darksouls
+Mahou Tsukai Oblivion was the worst elder scrolls ever according to sales and also notes given by players/critics. It's story was overall meh, and it's gameplay also. It just had the good rpg elements from morrowind but that was it.
+Vicente Santiago I can fully deny that Skyrim is a masterpiece, since it isn't even the best ES game. It's pretty to look at, sure. But the story is amazingly awful. Not to mention the dumbed down combat variety, and spells being a joke compared to previous games. Skyrim is far from a master piece, it's a decent RPG.
"Gamers were once a peaceful race who enjoyed sitting in their house all day while playing games and eating chips, then the internet turned these docile creatures into ravenous monsters''.
How can someone dislike this? You can tell a ton of effort was used to make his video, i'm not liking it cause i think it wasn't anything special but don't dislike it, they certainly worked hard for this
To be fair, basing the two characters on weapons, armour, magic and speed of movement...Dragonborn would rip the actual shit out a Dark Souls build...you couldn't really get near him.... begin the hate in 3 - 2 1....incoming!!!
Not really, at best Dovah gets 500-600 hp. That's starting level undead level of HP. His weapon (Legendary Daedric sword) is cool because it deals 300 at max which is amazing for it's speed. His armor would be amazing because it can reach upto 600-700 defense in every category whist even Havel is like 100 something. If Dovah were to be counted as an undead, he would approx. be a 80 lvl character with no points in vigor.
***** So we just gonna forget the weapons forged from the Lord souls including the one of the beginner of humanity himself? Havel set? And dat 300 HP though. He would be one shotted by a +10 weapon with buffs.
+Banci Ki So you compare simply being invincible and dealing infinite damage to a more realistic game? All you did was saying "Oh look at this badass he is infinitely strong and completely invincible! Your character that *can actually die* has no chance against him!" That's like comparing the flash's speed with a garden snail. Its just pointless because one of them is just infinitely better in everything than the other one.
I was actually expecting the chest to be a mimic and it would eat Dragonborn alive making him backtrack the whole way back from the bonfire just like in Dark Souls
Ha skyrim has much much more content back story storyline and customization so everyone stop hating on it. Skyrim is like the Oddysey and dark souls is the equivalent to a newspaper in storyline. It is superior in fighting barely
Josh Coulombe Not True. The lore of Dark Souls isn't prominently displayed, but denoting it to "A newspaper article" is highly inaccurate. Also, the fighting it terms of difficulty? About the same. Fighting in terms of being fluid, dynamic, and realistic? Dark Souls by a massive margin. Don't be so fast to hate on a game, and this is coming form an avid Skyrim player :3
Alright, stop arguing about which game has better lore, they each handle lore in very different ways. The Elder Scrolls has lore up the wazoo, mainly due to the fact that there have been so many games. You can go searching wherever and then BAM, a book or a character or a quest that piles more lore on you. And that's great. Dark Souls is a very minimalist game, and pulls that style of fantastically. Through item descriptions, character dialog, and environment observation, you figure out and infer so many things. Yet at the same time, they're all puzzle pieces to a puzzle you can't quite figure out. The game, in the end, has you coming up with your own interpretations and understandings of the lore. And that's great.
yes thats a great way to put the lore of datk souls but obe thing no one has really figured out the lore like did all life come from the dark or light. no one really knows yet
In my opinion, you're trying to solve a puzzle that isn't there. Most of the lore is either fan speculation or theory; e.g Pinwheel's family, Crossbreed Priscilla's parents, or the relationship of the Four Knights. What *is* there is very vague.
TheBlackLighthouse Yeah, a lot of it IS speculation. Maybe there isn't one answer you can find. But that's sort of the point. The way the story was designed was based off of the game's head directer's childhood. He loved reading western fantasy, but due to not speaking english, would need to imagine and fill in the blanks the best he could. Its all part of the experience.
I feel like Skyrim's lore is just a ton of info dumps with little real meaning. The little bits I gleamed from Dark Souls while playing felt much more important and interesting than any of the books or quests in Skyrim. Just my opinion.
i loved both games but if you take the time to figure the different lores of Dark Souls, you will see Dark Souls wins any day. Skyrim 100 hrs, beat everything once and never touched it again. Dark Souls 1000 hrs, one my 10th or so playthru and still playing it but maybe simply because i love the pvp. Also i should add that the main reason i didnt enjoy skyrim as much was that i was expecting the same hook Oblivion had on me.
ZDProletariat To be fair, the game randomly generates quests infinity. So really, the quests go on forever. I've put a crazy amount of time into Skyrim because of the community the game has. The mods are absolutely amazing.
you probably haven't even played the game to its full experience i.e beat the dragonborn main story, become harbinger of the companions, become listener for the dark brotherhood, get to level 81 (or higher) clear out every dungeon and cave (hundreds) become arch mage of the college of winterhold, become the guild master of the theves guild (and restore it to former glory) become thane of every city, own all houses, own all land (and upgrade them completely) max out vampire lord or werewolf, get every dragon priest mask, all daedric artifacts and so so much more. I bet you didnt even do a quarter of what i just stated
i would say that dark souls has better gameplay, atmosphere, and if you actually spend time finding it a more realistic and natural plot compared to the rather straightforward plots of oblivion and skyrim. I would also say that dark souls characters are less barebones.
better gameplay? well, if we are going to compare two games "so similar" as these two, I'd say that DS gameplay sucks when it comes to sitting on chairs, building, tents, interacting with people, eating, drinking, swimming, riding dragons, building houses... well, I think you get the idea. Characters are less barebones? LOL man, Dark Souls is a masterpiece, but not because of its characters. BTW... which characters? lmao
duhmzdaih Every one of them has a deep story like they would if they were actually in such a world siegland, solair, the monk dude, big hat Logan, the sisters of chaos. Every character in skyrim was boring as hell both. All the main quest characters were 2d cutout. the guild quests were a little better but still it felt so fake because the character essentially didn't exist except when you were there
duhmzdaih Also what part of click a to sit in chair is fun gameplay. What part of look at item click a and it disappears is gameplay. When can you ride a dragon freely.
P. V.C Well, Dark Souls sucks when it comes down to cooking, because... you can't. And it goes that way with the 1000 things you can do in Skyrim that you can't do in Dark Souls. So stop being a moron and don't compare an open world adventure game like Skyrim with an action/rpg like Dark Souls.
Stabbo Gaming Haha. Honestly, it is for mh... kids in my opinion. Bethesda developers refuse to anger their players so a 100% game where you can only win. Dark Souls is not that kind of game. That's why it is indeed a better experience
Ever heard of legendary? Or how bout mods? There is literally an option to download them on the home page. And TES isn't about being a huge challenge, it's an open world RPG with a whole lot of lore. I don't know much about dark souls, but I can garente it has more lore. Not to mention Skyrim was released back in 2011, and the game still isn't dead and has a very active fan base
Yeah totally agree, I never play without the brutal realism mods and survival ones to get a real rich experience. Souls just made me lose interest but due to not having enough time to dedicate to playing it, plus the lore is kinda shitty. Good fun to play but not if you have other things going on in your life haha!
Here's why dark souls is a better game IMO: better combat, badass bossfights, covenants and pvp. While skyrim has a better open world, it feels really empty, and you find yourself fighting the same monsters/animals with the same animation over and over, and all the human enemies look the same with different armor.. dark souls has a lot of different enemies so the game stays fresh while skyrim gets boring realy quick.
Here's why Skyrim is a better game IMO: More combat, more bossfights, and way more content. While Dark Souls has a more compact world, it feels really tight, and you find yourself fighting the same monsters/animals with the same animation over and over (because you die), and all the human/animal enemies look different but has more or less the same strategy.. skyrim has a lot of lore and mythos so the game stays fresh while Dark Souls gets frustrating realy quickXD Nah I'm just playin with u man.
+Maty Navarro eh, close enough. I think its better if it was like "I was thought to be a chosen undead like you, then i took a Sunlight maggot to the face"
i think they are so powerful to you, because i was level 180 powerful enough to fuck almost everyone, usually i rather use a partner to fight against powerful people, if you are weak you wont do anything to anyone, u need to have good spells with good level
A dragonborn who's forgotten how to shout, a chest that wasn't a mimic. A single enemy with half-arsed action, not even an attempt at a boss battle. *sigh* Well, we know somebody else is going to try this at some point.
No. If this was truly accurate the bonfire would have died out at 3:18 and then he would have heard the *aaaaah AH!* "Doucebag McCunt has invaded!". Dovahkiin, thinking its a honorable duel gets killed in one hit by a red phantom griefer using Great Combustion while wearing all Havel's armor with a fully upgraded pyro hand and lightning katana.
Kaminoyouni Andrew Nope because in Skyrim your life can only get so high and you can only do so little damage naturally. Compared to Dark Souls everyday monsters can deal like 500 damage in one hit. Invaders can naturally backstab for thousands and can cast spells that can do over 2000 damage if you are hit point blank. Basically Dovahkiin's entire life bar every hit. Whenever Dovahkiin does a dragon shout invaders would simply roll through it like they do everything else and then backstab him in one hit. Dovahkiin wouldn't stand a chance in Lordran or Boletaria unless he cheated. Using that restoration glitch to make broken enchanted equipment at an Arcane Enchanter.
Assuming that the guy with the club guy is even invader and not just a random monster, and invader wouldn't just stand there (probably just spawn camp at the bonfire), plus you can't expect a post game DB to be a completely weak noob, as your speculation is a purely biased approach as a DS fanboy. Not to mention DB would have a vairty of Shouts post game depending on how much exploring he did, also bring with him a varity of spells and weapons he had to master, much like any invader in DS would have to.
How is Dark Souls 2 shit? They were both entertaining and creative well made games. Sure it wasn't DS1 challenging but none of you can even state viable reasons as to why, just criticize this and that, rather than appreciate decent things. Be glad you can even buy the game and console and play it. Not everyone has the luxury of that. This is why Bioware and a few other game companies just can't win with the fans anymore.
DarkSouls and Skyrim are not even in the same league. They are two entirely different games with different goals and purposes. In my mind they are both wonderful games to play. But I prefer Skyrim because there is more than just fighting in the game. It took me around 50 hours to beat DarkSouls the first time. With the DLCs it added another level of game play that DS actually needed and I still play the game. It took a little over 150 hours to play and discover all of the areas of the map, the first time I played Skyrim and that was on Adept mode without the DLCs. And with the DLCs you have a ton of other maps, quests, weapons etc. to add to the game play. And I still play the game. BTW Legendary mode is a whole different thing. Try playing Skyrim from the beginning of the game on Legendary mode and tell me that it doesn't up the level of game play when fighting an enemy.
You mean "loses" not "looses". There is no win or lose. Multiplayer and bosses are the only reason why you play games? There is no prerequisites that say that games have to have bosses or have multiplayer functionality. There are countless amazing games that don't have multilayer and/or lots of bosses. You give up good story lines and meaning for those things and then it just becomes another shitty actions game with no meat to it. You are obviously not a true gamer. RPG means Role Playing Game. That means you take on the role of a person living within the world set inside the game. There is no need for lots of bosses. Because it's not Mario Bros. You create the outcome and there is no set way to play it.
lumberjum555 If you are playing a game just for the sake of combat systems or multiplayer, then you are missing the point of the game you are playing entirely. Some games are meant for you to fight constantly without a break in between and to complete tasks to progress in the game. . Skyrim is not like that because it is not an action jrpg like DarkSouls. It is a free-roaming rpg. They are no where near the same game style or game play in the first place. Why even compare them? It's like comparing apples to oranges. Skyrim does lack in some areas but overall it is a good game. You should try Morrowind. It's arguably the greatest rpg ever made. Anyway, it took a lot of time to create Skyrim and it's not all about fighting. You could beat Skyrim at level 12 or lower, at least I have.... that is, if you want to just do the main quests and end it at that. DarkSouls doesn't give you free reign to go anywhere you want on the map and you have to follow the linear storyline provided for you. Sure you can build a character and what not but as far as being a nonlinear game it isn't. I know this because I own and play both games. Open rpgs allow you to go where you want out of the gate. DarkSouls makes you rings bells and complete tasks to reach different areas and to make it to the final boss. That is as cliche and boring as it gets. And I'm just not into multiplayer gaming. I like single player games. I enjoy not being bothered by trolls and assholes. Multiplayer is not all that. Back in the day we had multiplayer. It was called a game party and used extra controllers. It was lot more fun. The problem a lot of people have with Skyrim is that it doesn't have DarkSouls combat system, or enough bosses and it lacks multiplayer functionality. Those are small gripes IMO. Having a boss at the end of each level is a cliche throwback to the days of the N.E.S. Skyrim doesn't have levels. I was 12 when the N.E.S. first came out. I had an Atari 2600 before that. Gamers back then dreamed of fully immersive games that allowed free roaming and to play outside of the main story and Legend of Zelda was the only game that came close to that. DarkSouls is an attempt to recreate the purposefully hard games from back in the day and it tries to recreate the idea of playing a level... beat a boss, play another level... beat another boss and so on, till you reach the final boss. I have been there and done that time and time again. When you are an adult you want more out of a game. Skyrim isn't like that at all. . That is the difference.
There's a lot more to Dark Souls than just fighting, and it's the better game. Yes, it's bigger and provides more content than Dark Souls but that doesn't mean it's the higher quality product. You can sit and say combat isn't important to you, but the fact remains that you'll be doing a lot of it in both games. If the combat system in a game that has a lot of combat is bad, then it's a huge detriment to the whole experience which is absolutely the case with Skyrim. There's no depth and fighting requires no sort of skill nor strategy. Instead it opts for flashy execution moves that seemingly happen at random, though these become repetitive and annoying instead of satisfying towards the player. Dark Souls is the more linear experience but that isn't a detriment. It allows for far more intentional design and hand crafted, variable environments. It ensures that the player never gets bored of what they see, since they're almost guaranteed to see something completely different around the corner. Skyrim doesn't have this, and as a result, despite having such a huge map to explore the environments become tiresome and dull rather fast. There's scarcely any variation in dungeon design and the forced puzzles just end up insulting to the players intelligence over being genuinely satisfying to overcome. Generally you fight the same enemies in the same looking dungeons, figuring out the same easy puzzles to receive similar kinds of loot. The same too can be said for the overworld. It's very easy to predict what comes next at any point during the game. There's nothing interesting to drive the player to explore the huge world, and the poorly written quests and forgettable characters are a detriment to the game as well. Skyrim itself is just one big letdown. There's nothing interesting or exciting in the game and everything just lacks polish or careful thought. Every mechanic and aspect of the game is either poorly done or mediocre and there's not even an interesting narrative to push the player through the already embarrassingly dull experience.
im skyrim and dark souls fan but id never pick 1 over other neither are anything alike aside from use of swords n bows xD skyrims more relaxed casual game while dark souls gives u challenge for planning and tactics totally diff play styles so u cant really compare 1 to other
I can see why the dislikes are.. People don't like to compare and don't like the "wars".. But being an Elder Scrolls and Souls fan I have to say this was pretty entertaining.
To be fair, if the dovakhiin would have the abilities of chosen undead (I.e. acquiring and consuming souls), he'd conceivably wreck the whole of Lordran. Even without that it wouldn't be that difficult, seeing how in Dark Souls you pretty much start from the very bottom of the barrel and still manage to kill errything, Gwyn included.
Dogyphil considering the B scaling from dex and 147 crit modifier, the +15 bandit knife would still riposte like nobody's business, even though the base damage is comparatively mediocre. Now add a hornet ring and some pine resin to it, and then...
Soooo... you're saying the Dovakiin walks into The Forest without 3 blue phantoms jumping him and BS fishing, WoTG spamming, or heavy armor dark bead spam? yeahh nope. not even close to legit XD
Kell Titan I remember when first time i opened this place and someone recommended me to go as human, 2 invaders with dark bead raped my poor SL35 warrior : ( And going there as a hollow is better when you rush to boss because why bothering invaders when you enter boss fog after they invade.
What happened to these guys

HELL YEAH
So do the two in front of Whirrun talking about Cicero
Skyrim with Dark Souls Combat. That would be the most epic shit ever.
EDIT: Elden Ring Hopefully???
PLUSHAMANIA I know this comment is 3 years old, but I totally agree!
Same as the above!
Ever try Dragons Dogma?
Jack Crater I’ve looked at some gameplay and it looks pretty fun! How does the difficulty compare to the souls games?
This could have been so much more
+randomintrestsperson Budget constraints, technical issues, unexpected events. Many reasons are to blame for fact that this video could have been better. But we choose to keep looking past this.
+Half-Light Studios I think a slightly more intricate sto- No. I mean, I think a story would've been a great addition for negligible costs.
+Half-Light Studios This is crap and you know it.
+randomintrestsperson Agreed, pretty lack luster.
+Half-Light Studios Budget constraints? What like $20?
Skyrim: you can save anytime.
Dark souls: What the hell is a save?
Damn, dark souls has saves and yet doesn’t even know it….. dark souls must be retarded.
Skyrim: Pick a race and create your legend.
Dark souls: get good.
You pick a race in dark souls except all the characters look like there constipated
git gud
*git gud
@ Obama's third husband You don’t really pick a race, only origin and class, etc. Also, every Dark Souls NPC looks better than any Elder Scrolls NPC Lmao
Implying I'd be stupid enough to jump off a cliff like that.
What are your thoughts about the moon?
Pretty sure he hates it as it "replaces" the sun.
william portillo Nah, that's not the reason. That moon kid in Anor Londo tried to touch me with his snakes. Never again will I look at that white ball in the sky the same way.
Isn't he your brother?!
InhaledPancakes Does it still count if you're banished from the family? Either way, it's gross.
no mimic at the end..? disappointing
agreed
Cole Wentworth no FUS ROA DAH either, what a shame
4/10 IGN - no mimics
you shouldve highlighted the rage of dieing 20 times to get to a chest, then finding a soul of the lost undead
Fading Soul plz
Or have it be a mimic that kills you just when you feel so happy about finally not dying.
Mimic*
yet another comment saying that the chest should have been a mimic
Chara thank for pointing that out, people always say tye same comments even though they KNOW that we got the message, yet still comment it
is that the same Chara from Undertale
Lol
I love everyone arguing.
I like both for different reasons.
Skyrim is more relaxing, looks better, and I feel like the class system is much less rigid
However, I love Dark Souls' combat style and the boss fights.
***** i play a spell sword thief blacksmith in skyrim
***** The game is depressing as fuck. No humor allowed. The penalty of death in the second game makes it so much worse, and yet better.
***** I just lost 400k souls on my way to a bonfire to get back to Majule :'c life aint easy man
***** Oh my friend… they didn't make Blighttown and The Abyss scary for no reason….
***** Yeah. A game with atmosphere as thick as mud surprisingly isn't a bad thing.
it would have been so funny if the chest was a mimic.
+Armin The First I thought the exact same thing. Shame really.

* Giant Dad's mask *
***** Yeah that is normal for dark souls players, we think about our moves before we play.
***** but in skyrim you dont have a place where you have to balancing to cross a tiny brigde with giant baldes that gona push you off the edge all while battling a guy with bleed effect in font and got another shoot lighting at your back.
Watayuki Kimihyra but only a moron would walk into those tiny bridges while fighting black fantoms.... sens fortress is easy...
kevin rodriguez Sen fortress? Easy ?
try playing it with an unfix PC version.
as i mentioned, only a moron would jump into blades while getting attacked, unfix pc version? i remember playing it on launch ps3 people invading on every turn. pvp sure thats difficult depending on the player, but sens fortress makes it easier to distance you and said enemy phantom to heal..
Dark souls is way more intense than Skyrim, and it's online. What's not to like.
I guess being stuck in the middle of the night with a pack of wolves chasing you and having to sacrifice your horse in order to get a head start doesn't count as intense.
Dark souls is better face it bro
How is Dark Souls more intense.
Everything looks the same, dark souls is unique, especially with its bosses

This raises an interesting question: Would Bend Will work on Dark Souls bosses? Imagine the possibilities!
I can tell you worked really hard on this. Very nice effort, so keep it up!
Also, it's fucking terrible.
+Ichabod Locust
Thanks?
fuckin savage
I'm going to use this.
HoplooWare No. One is like Dominoes Cheese-stuffed Cheesy Bread and the other is Mountain Dew.
Fuck, my stereotypical nerd/gamer is showing...
And Darksouls has lots of moss.
Glad to know I'm not alone, for I also love both games to death.
A game with a world like Skyrim and Mechanics like Dark Souls would be the best RPG ever.
The Witcher 3 ?
EarthCyclop
Not close enough.
Witcher 3 does not have dual wielding, shield and sword and dodge roll combat like Dark Souls.
qsqua No one would play it. Because it would take too long time.
qsqua Dark souls already has a pretty solid world, it just doesn't like you.
Fallout 4?
both are great games
Yes, amazing RPG Isnt it?
Pink Guy Of DOOM however dark souls combat mechanisms outmatch Skyrim
+Oghma Infinium ok cool but keep the bias out man, both games are good
Comparing Dark Souls and Skyrim is probably one of the stupidest things i've ever heard. Just like COD and GTA 5, lol.
Jesus this comment section is full of Cancer.
I mean, why bother? They're completely different games,
Go play your Skyrim
Go play your Dark Souls.

***** Nah, they'd just roll into it. s will save them.
Combustion, combustion, combustion!
***** Pryomancies would destroy him.
PvE he would be fine PvP Ehhhh he'd get ganked by three guys spamming pyromancies
chowderxillia Not really.
This should have been a battle between Dovakin and Ornstein. DRAGON SLAYER VS DRAGON SLAYER!
ornstein vs every special dragon from skyrim at the same time on legendary
ornstein has new tropheys now
+colt grisham nah, ornstein is weak to fire
Wait really?
+ULTIMATE POTATO FROM HELL But Ornstein has killed dragons from the age of ancients, who are most likely more powerful than the ones in skyrim (except for Alduin maybe).
+yugioh guy it was said, they were immortal thanks to their scales, wasn't it?
Firelink Shrine´s theme still gives me the chills everytime. So epic.
Who else wanted it to be a mimic?
How da fuk didn't Dragonborn become hollow I CALL HAX!!!
+Solomon the kaiju demon he wasn't cursed
508hunter OH yeah forgot about that bit of lore but hey then why does he need a bonfire to revive if he's not cursed
Solomon the kaiju demon IDK I didn't make the vid
508hunter RRRRAAAAH VID MAKERS YOU HAD ONE JOB!!!
+508hunter It would make sense if he was another race, but in the lore all humanity shares the curse.
Oh come on, just use the Become Ethereal shout and jump down there!
Also I was really expecting that chest to be a Mimic.
Ikr I was waiting for that chest to eat him
+Jazz1992 I know... He used no shouts. This wasn't the DB... It was some pathetic bandit.
Chrisfragger1 remember, you can't shout in midair
tko demo mid air? The big guy with the hammer that killed him like 6 times? Could ahve fus'ed him... Could have used etherial shout then jumped down the ledge.
Chrisfragger1 Yeah... let's just say this "dragonborn" is defiantly not the brightest or the loudest if you know what i mean.
Dark Souls has better combat
so true
+Andrew Espinoza You know where everything is in Dark Souls because exploration is almost required. In skyrim you can do whatever you want but most of the quests are exactly the same.
+Andrew Espinoza dark souls has the best lore or atleast that on par with skyrim it has much much better lvl design and ds has probably the best story telling i ve ever seen and im a big book and movies nerd
+Petar Jovovic also its harder so you get into the game more and cant half ass it
+Andrew Espinoza Yeah I would say Skyrim has better defined lore but only because there were 4 other full games before it.
2 masterpieces. Both games have it´s own style but you can´t deny they´re both freaking amazing
+Mahou Tsukai Oblivion was the worst elder scrolls ever according to sales and also notes given by players/critics.
It's story was overall meh, and it's gameplay also. It just had the good rpg elements from morrowind but that was it.
+Niro Quill Skyrim had incredible sales, and good rates from players and critics.
***** Each one has its own opinion... The sales/reviews don´t matter, but your criterion
Glassman823 It is a masterpiece for me.
I respect your opinion tho

+Half-Light Studios The chest should have been a mimic.
zekky1000 I dont know but the title did promise "Skyrim vs Dark Souls"
There was a lack of the whole "vs" part
I thought it was gonna be like a review type video.
Holy Devil oh sweet Lord
Giant Dad.
***** So we just gonna forget the weapons forged from the Lord souls including the one of the beginner of humanity himself? Havel set? And dat 300 HP though. He would be one shotted by a +10 weapon with buffs.
+Banci Ki
So you compare simply being invincible and dealing infinite damage to a more realistic game?
All you did was saying "Oh look at this badass he is infinitely strong and completely invincible! Your character that *can actually die* has no chance against him!"
That's like comparing the flash's speed with a garden snail. Its just pointless because one of them is just infinitely better in everything than the other one.

Skyrim vs Dark Souls is like The Cat in the Hat vs The Odyssey.
Check elder scrolls lore, 4 eras of history almost 10,000 years of lore, they even have their own historians for that shit.
Queen Chrysalis
I know, Skyrim is The Odyssey.
I'd rather actually play the legend than read it.
Why didn't he just shout the club guy into oblivion?
TheBlackLighthouse
Yeah, a lot of it IS speculation.
***** And mine as well, 7. Mine as well.
The chosen undead is so much stronger than the dragonborn
And he can respawn :3
Let's see the Chosen Undead kill a drago...
...Uh. Let's see the Chosen Undead break orbit. Ha. Suck it Blue.
i loved both games but if you take the time to figure the different lores of Dark Souls, you will see Dark Souls wins any day.
The mods are absolutely amazing.
get a life
Elder Scrolls lore > Dark Souls lore by a HUGE amount.
elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline
you probably haven't even played the game to its full experience i.e beat the dragonborn main story, become harbinger of the companions, become listener for the dark brotherhood, get to level 81 (or higher) clear out every dungeon and cave (hundreds) become arch mage of the college of winterhold, become the guild master of the theves guild (and restore it to former glory) become thane of every city, own all houses, own all land (and upgrade them completely) max out vampire lord or werewolf, get every dragon priest mask, all daedric artifacts and so so much more. I bet you didnt even do a quarter of what i just stated

skyrim= sandbox, dark souls= tray of broken glass
When DS player playing Skyrim : This is Pretty easy
When Skyrim player playing DS : OMG FUCK THE SKELETON!!RUNN!! NOOO WHY I GOT HOLLOWED WHYY FUCK!!
i would say that dark souls has better gameplay, atmosphere, and if you actually spend time finding it a more realistic and natural plot compared to the rather straightforward plots of oblivion and skyrim.
BTW... which characters? lmao
duhmzdaih
Every one of them has a deep story like they would if they were actually in such a world siegland, solair, the monk dude, big hat Logan, the sisters of chaos. Every character in skyrim was boring as hell both. All the main quest characters were 2d cutout. the guild quests were a little better but still it felt so fake because the character essentially didn't exist except when you were there
duhmzdaih
Also what part of click a to sit in chair is fun gameplay. What part of look at item click a and it disappears is gameplay. When can you ride a dragon freely.
duhmzdaih
And by interacting do you mean the dialogs options that do nothing and provide no depth to any of the character
I love skyrim, but the dragon born is a casual by nature

At least in darksouls you have a reason for respawning
You don't respawn in Skyrim. You load a previous save. The death never happened.
Alan2022 which means tes is for the weak
Oh yea .. there's also co op
Malcolm Kender Oh yea .. there's also mods.XD
i wouldn't compare the two games. Both are great in different ways.
Malcolm Kender There are mods in Dark souls as well. :)
the players of dark souls have more skill.
They have more skill....
....at being assholes.
Dewott Knight no they have better skills at timing and seing the attack rythm of their opponents
Here's what I see...dodge,attack,dodge,repeat.
Dewott Knight heres what you do in skyrim : spam the attack button eat 10 kilos of food the spam the attack button again
***** I laughed so hard at this
Holy crap, last time I saw legs that white I was about to put them on the BBQ!
+Al M Last time I commented about the body of a man I was gay, how about you?
+Jean Martin your names Jean are you sure you aren't still gay?
it's only gay if balls touch
His legs are white because he’s from Skyrim, a VERY iced over and cold area where there’s little sun shinning so he can’t get a tan
chest should have been a mimic
Skyrim fans should stand on one side of the room and Dark Soul fans on the other and never blend lives or look at each other
Eric Frost But.......... I'm both. What does that mean?
***** Shun the crossbreed to the Painted World!
Strongarm McArmstrong Won't help, I'll use my Hearthstone
+Eric Frost Then, your choice is Portal...it works!
chest at the end should have been a mimick xD
+Joey DeFrancesco Should have had a single Lifegem in it
"Amazing chest ahead" * gets eaten from excitement to open chest *
It's like you haven't even played either game
+Evry Mistake its like they are amateurs and did a good job with what they had
3:36
*Mudcrab waddles angrily toward you direction*
I thought at last that chest is a mimic... That would have been hilarious lol
This isn't that bad, I enjoyed it, but was hoping the chest was a Mimic lol.
Real good use of references. "You are over-encumbered" I loled
It's not good, there is no shouting.
+Miguel Condado Olivar IFKR
Miguel Condado Olivar
o yeah, that'd would have made it 20% cooler
*****
He just needs a good Steed xD
+Broockle better than being over-cucumbered
That moment when ur expecting an immediate "You died"
AWWWWWWWWWW why couldn't the treasure chest be a mimic, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
I used to be an adventurer like you, then I praised the sun in my knee.
+Maty Navarro eh, close enough.
I think its better if it was like
"I was thought to be a chosen undead like you, then i took a Sunlight maggot to the face"
obviously dark souls way better
have a good day, i love dark souls multiplayer its crazy
I like them equally
***** At least dark souls HAS multiplayer -.-
*****
Implying ps3 is hard to hack, you don't know shit mate.
i think they are so powerful to you, because i was level 180 powerful enough to fuck almost everyone, usually i rather use a partner to fight against powerful people, if you are weak you wont do anything to anyone, u need to have good spells with good level
Skyrim: **Hit a weak Enemy**
The enemy: **Give him a blow**
*You Died*
A dragonborn who's forgotten how to shout, a chest that wasn't a mimic. A single enemy with half-arsed action, not even an attempt at a boss battle.
*sigh*
Well, we know somebody else is going to try this at some point.
good game
Pretty sure his Fus Ro Dah would only end up being like an emit force in dark souls
Fake. Dovahkiin would have died immediately.
lmao..
err, he did. Like multiple times.
He did,he probobly just didn't find any enemies for a while
Note how I said "immediately".
he may not have the darksign yet...
Me while watching the video
"JUST SHOUT !"
LOL "PRAISE THE SUN!" i started crackin the fuk up
If this were accurate, around the 0:51 mark he would have been backstabbed.
Also if it were accurate the Dragonborn would've FusRoDahed that bastard with the club.
Kaminoyouni Andrew
Thus dealing little to no damage and running himself out of stamina so he couldn't even block the next attack.
I would laugh if the chest he opened was mimic xD
It seems like the person who made this played a total of 42 minutes of Skyrim in their life
Although I like Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 was pretty shit.
Dark Souls > Skyrim > Dark Souls 2.
Praise the sun yall.
Shit? Lol
He's accurate u know, but dark souls 2 is still better than skyrim
Maxwell Hubbard ds2 sucks. i havent even finished it I died too much... of boredom
I'm not saying dark souls 2 is shit (for one I love the souls franchise) but dark souls two is not better than skyrim. (In my opinion)
Skyrim looses because it has no Multiplayer and nearly no bosses
WHAT! The gameplay (Combat System) is to me the most important part to the game.
Games are always great. Fandoms tend to ruin it for everyone else.
You are correct. Though it also happens with lots of other things. People are terrible People!
Hoopla Llama anti spiral
Gun Jack You wanna go?
Hoopla Llama yes
im skyrim and dark souls fan but id never pick 1 over other neither are anything alike aside from use of swords n bows xD skyrims more relaxed casual game while dark souls gives u challenge for planning and tactics totally diff play styles so u cant really compare 1 to other
Dovahkiin: STOP MOVING SO FAST, FUCKER.
Darksouls Character: This is the usual speed I move . . .
I can see why the dislikes are.. People don't like to compare and don't like the "wars".. But being an Elder Scrolls and Souls fan I have to say this was pretty entertaining.
I thought the chest was going to be a mimic.
You know you'be played too much Dark Souls when the adventurer opens the chest you shout NO and say it'll eat him
no such thing as too much darksouls!
This reminds me so much of Monty Python that it's hilarious.
This Solaire need to stop praising the twinkies
Hahaahaha thanks for making me laugh.
Killing Gwyn with the criticals of a bandits dagger would still take years >.>
Do you even parry?
114Freesoul That's what I mean by criticals. You would riposte for 200-300 at most, and that's like 15 ripostes. 15 is a lot ;_;
Dogyphil considering the B scaling from dex and 147 crit modifier, the +15 bandit knife would still riposte like nobody's business, even though the base damage is comparatively mediocre. Now add a hornet ring and some pine resin to it, and then...
but he doesn't. Dovahkiin doesn't carry the dark sign.
Pro: you guys obviously did your best (so great work).
Con: you guys obviously did your best, and it shows.
I expected him to just take the sword from the campfire and leave XD
Soooo... you're saying the Dovakiin walks into The Forest without 3 blue phantoms jumping him and BS fishing, WoTG spamming, or heavy armor dark bead spam? yeahh nope. not even close to legit XD
Maybe he was a hollow ? :D Or offline mode, like me in this invade-me-plx forest. : /
Kell Titan I remember when first time i opened this place and someone recommended me to go as human, 2 invaders with dark bead raped my poor SL35 warrior : ( And going there as a hollow is better when you rush to boss because why bothering invaders when you enter boss fog after they invade.
Kell Titan it's easier if you join "Blade of the Darkmoon Covenant" then you can invade most anyplace pvp sinners!! hehe
Kell Titan
that can work also. ;-)
You also forgot the guy who TWoP spams like a bitch, gankers, and the 3 giant cats who 90% of the time rape people who have never seen them before.
I was expecting an XxxDarkFagget688XxX Invaded somewhere and a backstab XD
