The crafts people who made The Thunderbirds did something very, very special. While doing so, captured the imaginations of millions and millions of children of all ages.
Some may scoff nowadays in this age of CGI whizzbangery, but the TLC that went into these shows was phenomenal and highly praiseworthy. This 60s kid has no end of respect for Anderson and his highly creative VFX team, and is grateful to them for so many hours of wonderful entertainment!
This is remarkable - echoing what others have said; amazing craftsman that brought joy to many a child. I loved Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlett as a child & I still love them to this day.
I would say Thunderbird 2 is by all accounts the definitive Gerry Anderson vehicle. It's the one most familiar in the public eye, including parodies of it in Anime.
I knew Jimmy Elliot (cameraman on Thunderbirds and others) when we were painting and decorating a school in Colchester, Essex. Bit of a come down for him, but he had a great sense of humour.
I'm building a replica of the MOLE from thunderbirds, and it's curious how many more transfers are down the left hand side of the model. It usually drove left to right on screen so that clip about dressing the models on one side makes a lot of sense.
Marvellous! I wish they made a new big movie and just made it how it was done those years ago! Not a scrap of that cgi peter jackson rubbish. We watched it for the explosions and model reality. They just didn't get it.
Sexy, Stylish, Smart, if only they had guest appearances of Steed Ms. Emma Peel, The Beatles, Shirley Bassey,, Patrick Mcgoohan The Prisoner.. Oh those were the days!!!
Amazing look back, even in this day and age with cgi shots etc their work still looks fantastic and effective and definitely holds up. Thanks for everything guys.
Thanks for this. I'm a lifelong Thunderbirds fan, watched the first series as a 6yr old which inspired me to a 42 career in defence aerospace. My love now is modelling heritage WW2 airfields for the XPlane flight sim, and its fascinating to see my favourite Thunderbird 2, so beautifully grunged and weathered.
For me all happy memories! However! They are mixed, with a hint of sadness! All my uncles, aunts and parents, have pass on now! So sad and yet! Happy memories! Thank you to all involved back then, in the mid sixties making our childhood memories, very magical! R.I.P to all not here! Thank you too! 😥

I couldn't agree more!
Amen. Meddings and his team inspired anyone of that age into engineering

As a child building my own versions of these models was pure heaven.

It was always my favourite - I had it as a toy with the Mole in the pod.
キャプテン・スカーレットのエンゼルインターセプターが美しいデザインでしたね。
サンダーバード2号のミニチュアは様々なアクションシーンがカッコ良かったです!😊👍

These now older and retired people were in their day such amazing designers and craftsmen. Imagine the memories they must hold.
Wow! These Angel Interceptor models are awesome! Destiny and the Angels of Spectrum should be the best pilots in world!
Watch it when I was a child!
Thank you for making my Childhood living in Peckham Rye und Eltham
Fine work gentlemen. Great memories.
Wow, one never realizes just how big the models actually are, especially when all one has only seen toys and kits
Great video...👍

Do mean the Thunderbirds Are Go animated series? That isn't Peter Jackson.

good clip underpinned by some of Barry Gray's iconic music.
Thank you guys for making my childhood memories sweet 😇😊☺️🙌👏💗💓🙏

All these shows were amazing. I found a Stingray collectible a few years back. I’m over 60, darn right I bought it
What’s the episode of Captain Scarlet they show here?
I've just re-watched STINGRAY and CAPTAIN SCARLET on Blu-Ray over the last few weeks, and they still look good today as they did back then!❤❤❤
