I like seeing the big man love. As a lineman this year (my first time ever) they do the unnoticed dirty work that really is the core of the offense. I never really noticed that till this year

I enjoyed this video no end. I had the pleasure of being an elementary principal in Waterloo from 2003-2011 and we had any number of student teachers and athletes in and out of the school all year round. From reading the comments here it sounds as if he’s a coachable, although somewhat raw talent. I don’t know enough about how different teams with such folks but isn’t part of what they do is to spot talent and assess strengths and needs and make a plan for each person?
from what i have seen so far he needs a lot of work on his hand placement. He keeps himself unprotected and a NFL de will eat him up on a pass rush. Lots of potential but needs a lot of work. Maybe a 3rd round pick?

I love this guy. I dont think hes unathletic as some of you do. Different position, sure, but he was a tight end for most of his life, and hes just such a beast if he puts his hands on you, speed rush or not, I dont think hes getting beat often. I would love my Cowboys to get him at 24, but I think his stock is rising.

I played left Tackle for a few years, you need to have quick feet and strength with endurance, your protecting the Qb's back side, so it's a pretty important spot. This Man looks good, he looks steady and strong.

Woah. I've never seen such dominant OL film. It's jaw dropping! I would not be surprised if he wasn't (after a year or two in the league) the best OL of the draft. He might even I dare say (bc OL is so coveted and deep in this draft) best the MVP of this draft! I'm going to have to look at some more film. I am super impressed!! It's just hard to evaluate someone in a lower division. But he is pancaking these guys and you look at who he is destroying and these are not small guys. He is taking on massive DI guys and destroying them. Damn! He should definitely be a 1st rounder despite PFF putting him in the 2nd round.
Born March 15, 1999. Played high school football for the Newman Catholic Knights (IA). Played college football for the Northern Iowa Panthers. Drafted #19 overall by the New Orleans Saints.
I think he’s good, he’s aggressive but the only thing that i think he’ll struggle on is going against these tall huge elusive DE’s in the NFL. It looked like all of his opponents in college were pretty small so him transitioning to NFL DE’s and DT’s might be a struggle for him
You might have a good point about NFL elusive players but I don't agree with you on the size of his opponents. He was pancaking some massive looking players. It was super impressive film. Some of those edge rushers had short burst speed and he destroyed those guys. I would love to see how he did in the SEC. I think he would still be fricking awesome, but we will never know. His film grade is 10/10. I've personally never seen ANYONE EVER dominate opponents like this. I also know because Ive gone to colleges in this division and I work at Missouri state. I've seen firsthand how athletic these lesser school atheletes are. When you talk about individual talents these schools all have really awesome atheletes. It's just they don't have as much depth.
Bs you can see this guy will be a great transition at the pro level everyone has stumbles n him playing against less talented guys snt mean he isn't the saints are great with small school guys making them great because they be hungry n eager to prove they belong

A bust? Absolutely, but Tony ended up having a solid career in the NFL, and I dont think Penning fits the comparison because hes nowhere near as hyped as Mandarich was lol.

I give him a First Round grade at Right Tackle but a Second Round Grade at Left Tackle. Only knock on him is his lateral quickness. Having said that there is always a chance someone will Draft him as a Tackle and eventually move him inside to Guard. I.e. Andrus Peat

I’m surprised he was a first round lock. The guy takes a lot of penalties including after the whistle stuff. When a guy is always trying hard to play within the rules because he’s so keyed up all the time, I think that’s extremely difficult to just coach it away.
I don't know. All I see is a guy in a mismatch against guys a lot smaller. He tends to focus on one person at a time. Really don't see what's so special.
This guy will be a huge bust. His style of play is dependent on holding and being much bigger/stronger than the defender; both of which will not work in the NFL.
