Im just in tears listening to this Set. Realizing my life is half way though (if im lucky). Been to so many raves and parties. Met so many people. The fun, the highs and even the lows. Life was just so amazing. So fresh, so much to discover. Yet here I am now, stuck in my home.. unbale to enjoy good parties because im just done. Not even this virus but just the entire mindset of people. Lost many friends and family. The music doesnt give me these feelings anymore. My mind is blank. Memories starting to fade away. It hurts to get up. It hurts to go to sleep. What the fuck happend to me, to society. Where did it all go wrong? Its like there is nothing but rage and anger. Maybe it just me. But I would love to see social media go away and make people Go out again. Experience life as its suppose to be. In stead of living through your phones. Sorry for this rant. I’m with you. ‘99 was an amazing year for me. The older we become the more numbed we are. To lose connection with emotion. Compressed within an existence of just existing. This kind of music takes you elsewhere. I wish you well and truly hope that you find a way through.

Love u both cuz I remember candy flipping with some really good MDMA Amsterdam shamrocks and some of the best ketamine I've ever had in my life blasting this out in August of 1999 at a rave called Era in Pittsburgh
This is why we ❤ Paul Oakenfold .....just let yourself go and wake up to the uniquely beautiful all loving you the world is trying to suffocate.. here's loving all you❤p.s.you've got to admire the timing of the sun coming up ... perfectly intime with the awesome selection when facing 🎉🎉
Just wanted to thank the uploader for this. Haven't heard this in forever and was so happy to find a version that wasn't bogged down with goddamn generic youtube ad trash. For rule dude, you rule.
you cannot emphasise how unreal this set is, the way the set is crafted particularly the second half and the tune selection towards the finale. he really nailed the living daylights out of it
I actually do play the same track in the same set every once in a blue moon…specifically because of Oakenfold. Different versions/mixes of the same track, but yeah…what balls this legend has to do it first /best
Now they all quickmix. Even Tiesto at EDC averaged just 90 seconds per track! Everyone has ADHD and can’t just enjoy the moment so they cater just to the crowd. Sad.
This set is Classic immediately recognizable by opening song. Once waiting in line to get in to Winter Conferece in Miami someone began whistling opening tune and entire crowd picked it up and carried on with it. Okie at its peak amazing to hear. One of my favorite summer sets ever, always brings back feelings of Ibiza summer vibe.
Who's here after watching him live on twitch during the COVID 19 shut in on March 28 2020? All of those old records he was playing brought me back to an easier time in the 90s. Stay safe everyone!
I knew who he was but never heard many of his mixes. Just a few tracks really. Heard him play on a Beatport 24 hr show with other DJs and it was the sickest mix! Now I've been going into his other stuff. Tranceport has now became one of the best mix CDs I've heard and now finding more of his stuff. It's unreal. This music is timeless
This is the first electronic set I listened from start to finish. I was in college in 2004 and a friend gave those cds. I couldn't believe how amazing it was that each song followed the other like the other piece of a puzzle, the other turn of the same. Until then I could not understand why people bonded so much on music settings like raves. 20 years after... I now know
Good trance music is like an out of body experience. It's like you lose your surroundings and get transported to another place where the music just takes over everything.
This is still one of the very best mixes ever. 25 years later and it's pure magic. ps: Go listen to his Home@Sydney mix from same year also, more magic.
Almost x-mas 2020! Rediscovering this mix. Brings back those great memories of listening to the radio... "thisss is the essential mix.... live from ibiza" Good times, just close my eyes and teleport to 1999.
OMG, Thank you!!!! TH-cam!!! Had this Mix way back when, and lost the CD! Time went on and it became a distant memory...you have found me once again! Perfecto!
1999.. I was 22 years old!! (Sigh) still listen to it like the first time. 43year old and still get goosebumps,at minute 32:00.. many things to remember.
Very few people understand that feeling in their mind and brain it's like a lucid dream you don't know how it happened but it did and only now can we connect together and talk about these things because even fifty years ago nobody could it's beautiful
Still have the burned CD's of this mix in a old book full of similar EM gems, but this one is truly special.! Top Oaky for sure. One the the best driving, raving, life mix of all times!
2023 52 years old now, raving in my living room with my dog, how things have changed, i want to be in the 90s again when people really knew how to party
@@tom-foil This is Northern Exposure - what really good progressive trance sounded like in 1996. Starts slow, banging in periods, great to listen to even after all these years. th-cam.com/video/aaY3spCDdpY/w-d-xo.html
We used to listen to these live on Radio 1. All year, we never missed one. And we taped them all. I then studied them, tried my best to source all the vinyl from these mixes. Good times.
I first heard this set back in 99/2000 and it changed everything. I had never even heard of Ibiza. It sounded like this mystical island in the middle of the Mediterranean ppl like me in the States could only dream of going too. Well that dream for me finally came true 15 yrs later when I visited in 2016. It was everything I thought it would be & then some. Eating dinner at Cafe Mambo watching the sunset on the Northern part of the island. Seeing Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at Amnesia. Getting to visit Space like a month or so before it closed down. Seeing Hardwell at Ushuaia. The beaches. The scenery. I need to go back. Fyi, the essential mix in Havana, Cuba might be better than this mix.
The ultimate high and Oakey at his best and he will confirm was cream at the nation in Liverpool was his favourite place and Liverpool always pump out the best music thats why he became the resident dj and he and all of us missed the best club ever
Moved away from Toronto, and I absolutely hate the traffic driving into the city, but when I see the CN Tower while driving on the Gardiner Expressway, it brings back a nostalgia feeling, a flood of all the great times I had living there, a reminder that I am truly back at home.

Was thinking, "ooo a driving video, wonder if I'll be able to figure out where it was filmed." The car then immediately pulls out in front of the CBC building, where I worked when this mix was originally recorded.

Up there with the top all time classic sets....I been cranking this thing for decades and it still has stood the test of time and has become timeless....#fax
SPACE was my favorite club in Ibiza because you went there at 8am and there was this huge platform that they moved out on to the dancefloor that had one of them big thick gym mats on top and people were just lying all over it coming on from the party sweeties ;) You were indoor until about 12noon, then you went outdoors to this open area where they continued the party so essentially you could club almost 24/7 . You would start out at about 7pm to get to Cafe Del Mar or Mambo which was a little hard to find the first time you go. There you watch the sun set which is awesome to see, then when it turns dark all these people appear juggling fire and hoops of fire, it's insane. I loved Cafe Del Mar because the toilet was all mirrors, the floor , roof, walls. So by 8-9pm you are in the west end clubs like Play 2 where they had a lazer show and other small clubs/pubs that if you bought 4 beers you would get a free 70cl of vodka, peach snaps etc so you just bought 8 beers and got 2 70cl bottles for next to nothing then later you would head to places like Es Paradise , Pacha etc which were like £40 door fee and £8 a pint of beer, insane yes? Anyway you would be there until about 6am then head to the Starbar and everyone suddenly jumps in all these taxis that arrive 10mins before Space opens and that's when you head there. I think the outdoor part was open until about 4pm then you move on to a beach party lol
@@stevenross-watt8640 the end of the 90s that’s a shame they don’t do that anymore as i thought that was the greatest thing ever , being able to go to a club like that through the day
This is my flying music. I have it on an old Ipod. I only have the second half, but I still love this mix. Sounds great on noise canceling headphones, especially when you are going on a vacation!
Still one of the best mixes Ive ever listened too. This is how to put a set together, nothing fancy or over the top, but the dynamics are just brilliant
Damn Peak Oaky right here, absolute master class in track selection, each one perfectly flowing into the next, filled with ups and lows, classics strewn throughout. Perfect mix. Miss this era of DJing man, the late 90s really did have it going on.
Paul mixed on that day as if our and all other lives depended on it, Still goosebumps and beautiful memories on this one Coming from home @Space Ibiza♡♡♡
1999 , no Whatsapp no Facebook , no Tinder , no Instagram .. happier people and experienced more dancing
Well, icq was more of a thing for me...
Social media now occupies the time people used to go dancing and meeting in public environs. Social apps are less social but highly commercial.
And people can't put their phones down at a concert to just BE THERE and feel the music.

This Paul Oakenfold set I've listened to about 1000 times, it was my favorite of his 1999 World Tour mixes for such a long time, one massive track after another.
Thanks..🥴
You sir deserve a medal!
I've been after this tracklist ever since this mix was released way back.. Thank you Sir!!!
@@brandmotivo that's a great pick, one of my favs from the tracklist for sure. My personal fav is Symmetry C
Freefall feat. Jan Johnson - "Skydive [Pappa & Gilbey Mix]" is also known as the "Mara remix"

summer of 1999. what a great time to be alive.
91 for me..
Last summer of the millennium
YES! We saw and lived it and loved it and heard it live!
Definitely,I'd just done a five, ain't looked back
@@garyjones980 91 -99
Give me those days again, thought they would last forever
If it was possible to turn back the clock, I would. 1999 my life started, and with this music!
Great memories. Ive lived. Thanks to all who made it happen. Thanks for the great memories. I wish that everyone could experience those days. In moderation of course. What a time.
This mix has been sequenced into my DNA and my soul
Same here.. it lives in my blood
Foreal
From Cassettes, to CDs, to USBs, Ipods, drives and clouds..this mix is always in my reach.
This is still the most beautiful mix I've ever heard.
One of the masterpiece sets of all time.....can never get tired of it
one of the best mixes EVER!! Long live Oaky!
2021 Wow I remeber this from my older brother ... I was 11-12 in 1999 and wow what a time to be alive ... Much love from a Sicilian ❤️✅👍🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
And Wow IT was (&still is despite the Darkness)🙏Fratello💖&✌️from IAMSTERDAM 😎
you cannot emphasise how unreal this set is, the way the set is crafted particularly the second half and the tune selection towards the finale. he really nailed the living daylights out of it
How many Djs nowadays would have the balls to play the same song twice in the same set. Oakenfold was the man
+
you so right . any dj play the same track. paul epic
Sad.
...and what a song..Masterpiece!
One of the greatest trance sets of all time. Thank you for the upload, really takes me back.
That voice is so nostalgic I'm glad I was able to remember about this, space Ibiza had the best sets. Long live oakenfold!! 2022
Quarantine, 18 Dec 2020 epic. Still one of the best sets. Ever.
Wow, this mix came out a quarter of a century today! And what a mix it is! amazing
Who's here after watching him live on twitch during the COVID 19 shut in on March 28 2020? All of those old records he was playing brought me back to an easier time in the 90s. Stay safe everyone!
I've had it off of Napster, but was hesitant to upload.
Sooooo good, still 20 years later!
This music is timeless
this, havana mixes, miami 1999... they are regularly on my playlists... What Oakenfold did then is timeless, pure magic
Absolutely one of the best sets ever recorded! Would have killed to be one the people listening to this live!
have done but dont knock pure concentration in ya bedroom
100% bud. While we were far from Ibiza during the recording, one night on the radio turned into an entire summer of magic
Still sounds better than half the shite today timeless mix.
December 2020,loving the old essential mixes all over again. Staying up to tape them on a 2hr cassette tape! Fabuloso!
I now know
This is the way!
Good trance music is like an out of body experience. It's like you lose your surroundings and get transported to another place where the music just takes over everything.
described perfectly,for real🙏👍
This is still one of the very best mixes ever. 25 years later and it's pure magic.
ps: Go listen to his Home@Sydney mix from same year also, more magic.
Pp
Live @ homelands does it for me too
That first tune is mint. Late 90s raving was amazing! Close your eyes and reach for the lasers.
Top ten trance sets ever. Maybe top 5. Definitely reflective of happier, less confusing times. Respect 🫡 to you Mr. Oakenfold. True legend!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
gracias por la lista
I love how much soul was in this trance music, these DJs know how to lay it down, respect 2024.
Almost x-mas 2020!
Rediscovering this mix. Brings back those great memories of listening to the radio... "thisss is the essential mix.... live from ibiza"
Good times, just close my eyes and teleport to 1999.
Almost xmas 2021 and still rocking.
..awesome mix.. awesome tracks..
23 years later and it still kicks like a mule
Very few people understand that feeling in their mind and brain it's like a lucid dream you don't know how it happened but it did and only now can we connect together and talk about these things because even fifty years ago nobody could it's beautiful
An ode to the time when I lived in Toronto and drove to this beautiful music.
Still have the burned CD's of this mix in a old book full of similar EM gems, but this one is truly special.! Top Oaky for sure. One the the best driving, raving, life mix of all times!
I have originals haha
This is true Oaky style. The man is a genius... I think I have all of his EMs on a CD in my car still :D
@@TheWhoppie same all in my car listening everyday. Oakey is the best
Cупер сэт, впервые его услышал в 2002, с тех пор слушаю, когда скучновато и хочется летнего позитива!
2023 52 years old now, raving in my living room with my dog, how things have changed, i want to be in the 90s again when people really knew how to party
20 years today and still the best mix ever
What i was missing for 20 years cause i just discovered it a few weeks ago.
It's a great mix, but ref "best mix ever" Northern Exposure (North) and Digweed Global Underground Travelogue (Sydney, GU006, CD2) would like a word !
@@danjsy Do you have a link please ?
@@tom-foil This is Northern Exposure - what really good progressive trance sounded like in 1996. Starts slow, banging in periods, great to listen to even after all these years. th-cam.com/video/aaY3spCDdpY/w-d-xo.html
@@tom-foil ...and this is Digweed GU Sydney CD2. Deeper, with bangers all the way through ! th-cam.com/video/M513xPpncW8/w-d-xo.html
We used to listen to these live on Radio 1. All year, we never missed one. And we taped them all. I then studied them, tried my best to source all the vinyl from these mixes. Good times.
Feels like a totally different planet now 😕
This was one of the first sets that made me love this music. Just perfect.
What a great mix, what a great era, back when people went out and just jammed the night away
Precies Etienne!
Legendary mix. Have had a copy of it for years and always return to it!

Me too. Mitsubishi, can't believe u brought that up. Best times.
I’ve been listening to this mix since 2005 and thank you for making a street video for it ♥️
Was thinking, "ooo a driving video, wonder if I'll be able to figure out where it was filmed." The car then immediately pulls out in front of the CBC building, where I worked when this mix was originally recorded.
saw the first cab and knew it was proudly a Canuckian production :)

Sat listening to this june 9th 2023 in the garden with a beer . Oakey is back playing in Liverpool tomorrow for one night i get to be 18 again. These songs / mixes have been my growing up . ❤
OMG been looking everywhere for this legendary mix!! I used to play it so many times on my shitty mp3 player back when i was still in school 20 years ago.. Man, time flies..
Up there with the top all time classic sets....I been cranking this thing for decades and it still has stood the test of time and has become timeless....#fax
Crazy--Paul Oakenfold! I remember seeing him perform at a uni party in Oxford back in late 1995. Epic!
This mix always gives me motivation to go and explore the world, and live my life with no regrets. To be free. Bless Oakenfold
This is one of my favorite Essential Mixes. Such a great trance set.
"Home, at Space, in Ibiza." One of my first sets 20 years ago. Still hits
What year were you experiencing this? I arrived late to Ibiza and I've not seen Space during the day, just club nights.
@@stevenross-watt8640 the end of the 90s that’s a shame they don’t do that anymore as i thought that was the greatest thing ever , being able to go to a club like that through the day

GOAT of essential mixes...
