I absolutely think they should bring back the ability to talk trash in between rounds. That's a big reason on what made gears so great. Those gears 1 lobbies were toxic and we all loved it.

I miss the trash talk days too. Xbox party system ruined that. Everyone was in their own little chat groups
I think it's a mix of party chat and stricter rules but I also get the feeling that most people just don't want to talk in game anymore even if they're not in party chat, it's like people are more shy and socially awkward now. It's not just trash talk, people just don't want to talk in game at all.
