God Michael. You continue to really tip the scales. Your video quality and production is as first rate as any. You bring something so special to this hobby and people like myself are eternally grateful for your efforts. Thank you a million times over. 😁
Enjoyed meeting you at CanJam in the temple of ZMF! Very chill in person, and much respect for your enthusiastic creativity! Godspeed in your new projects Michael 🏎️🎧💨
It was great seeing you in person. It's awesome you get to hold onto the B-21. I'm super jealous. Fingers crossed the Unveiled goes on sale, Yea Right , but I guess we can dream.
Great video, Michael. The editing and camera work in the intro, wow! But regarding Audeze, please get it out of your mind that Audeze was MIA because they did not release a flagship since the LCD 5 / CRBN. To illustrate, this has been their flagship release schedule (no pro audio, no gaming included): 2009 LCD 2; 2011 LCD 3 (2 year gap); 2016 LCD 4 (5 year gap); 2018 LCD 4z (2 year gap); 2021 LCD 5 (3 year gap); 2021 CRBN (2 flagships one year due to entry into electrostatics); 2024 CRBN2 (3 year gap). Where is your repeated "we haven't seen a flagship from Audeze in a while" coming from? The biggest time gap was LCD 3 to LCD 4.
I completely understand your position. It makes sense. It's a fair argument. Here's where I'm coming from. I can't ignore gaming. It's the most profitable end of any headphone business. I had a real concern that Sony was going to force Audeze out of the high-end space. The uber-expensive headphones don't do big sales numbers. Sony (or any big corporation) want to see a return on their investment. The first headphones after the buyout were the MM-100 and the Maxwell. The MM-100 is a $400 lesser version of the MM-500. Basically a prosumer mixing headphone. The Maxwell is a higher end gaming headphone at $250. It raised questions in my mind (I certainly wasn't alone) about whether Sony was going to let Audeze spend the capital to research headphones that sold in low volume at an expensive price. The flagship-class is far less profitable than a Maxwell. From a business standpoint-- steering Audeze out of the high-end space is a sound financial move, even as it breaks the hearts of us enthusiasts. 3 years is a huge gap for a big company-- especially one that has grown to the size of Audeze. The 5-year gap you accurately point out-- was back when Audeze was still a boutique name. The CRBN and LCD-5 were headphones that pushed Audeze into Hifiman territory for market cap. A logical outcome would be more models, not fewer. When ZMF (a smaller brand until recently) is cranking out model after model (and all great) and amps, Meze is releasing different Empyrean versions, Elites, and Empyrean IIs (along with IEMs-- and what happened to Audeze's IEM program? Good question, right?) And, of course, Hifiman is basically owning the market. Audeze has appeared demonstrably absent from the high-end space, especially for a company its size. So while you disagree, fairly, understand that things can be seen from another angle. I'd also mention-- I'm a HUGE Audeze FANBOY! I love the company! These guys have made phenomenal world-class products, and they're great guys. I've been to their SoCal factory. I want nothing more than to see them dominate-- because competition is good for everyone. I'm very much looking forward to the Hangover meet-up with Audeze. Should be in the next week or two, I received an enthusiastic commitment yesterday, and we should get a lot of information from them-- I can't wait! Cheers! Great discussion.
@@DirectorsGarage Thanks for the detailed explanation, Michael. I do see what you mean about Audeze being a bigger company now than it was in the LCD3 to LCD4 era.
I'm on the list for the CRBN 2 upgrade. I think 2025 is going to break our wallets with the number of confirmed and rumoured releases. If the LCD 6 is an LCD 4 style tuning with improved technical performance, it's an instant buy. The first thing I need to do in 2025 is upgrade from my Phantom to the Carbon CC, so I have an endgame amplifier to drive the Hifiman Shangri La Sr when I buy that towards the end of 2025. I'm not rich by any means but I have the ability to save a good amount of cash every month.
Did you re-record the audio or something? Something if odd about your voice and your mouth movement. Or is your microphone out of this world good? Thx for the show.
@@DirectorsGarage Thanx. My question: do you dub parts of the video or is everthing recorded live? Sometimes it looks dubbed to me. Like the breathing doesnt match the video or sth. I could be wrong. Thx
@@1979Weasel Everything is live. I do pull out time here and there, but I don't do jump cuts like other shows (unless motivated). I try to do everything in 1 take.
@@1979Weasel OH... I think I know what you're reacting to. I shoot in 24fps which is a film rate. Most other shows shoot in 30fps. I shoot in 24 because as an editor, it creates a LOT of advantages. (Slow-motion is much smoother, fewer keyframes, etc.)

I do have a terrific ribbon mic (very vintage 1962-ish RCA-77DX) with a tube pre. Not sure what you're hearing. Can you explain?

@@DirectorsGarage thx man
Did you hear the he1000 unveiled?
No, there was a wait for that one. I don't do well in lines!
Great video except for the Neil guy...
No physicality to Immanis? You must be joking
Maybe you tested it on a very underpowered system or one without any synergy
Maybe! I can only report my experience. It was paired with a Viva amp. I loved the headphone, regardless.
@@DirectorsGarage It's a very transparent headphone, I've heard the Viva amp is pretty good for it, but what was the DAC?
@@SergeySedlovsky Not sure. 🤷♂️
