Zippo Lighter VS Star Lighter

  • Zippo Lighter VS Star Lighter
    A comparison of the classic Zippo lighter, the Zippo windproof and the Chinese copy/clone the Star lighter. Both lighters are very good but the Star lighter typically sells for around a half or a third of the price of a Zippo.
    Sadly both lighters suffer from the lighter fluid evaporating over time when not in use.

    I have a Star lighter and I put original Zippo flints, cotton, felt, wick and lighter fluid. Where I live cheapest Zippos are about 20 dollars. I bought every piece for about 10 bucks and the lighter was around the house so it's much much cheaper.

    I prefer zippos because it is original and has that life time warranty
    However the star lighters are good for what they are

      Yeah there are a few other Zippo clones or similar but slightly different designs, if I only had the choice of one I'd go for a "Brass" Zippo because it's classic and built very well.

    I will always have and keep this opinion.
    When china copy somthing 9 times out of 10. Its EXACTLY THE SAME.
    Its a lighter. Its identical to a zippo. It does exactly the same thing as a zippo. Works exactly the same way.
    More than likley made the exact same way.
    Expecting it to be any different is just silly

    Already the quality control problems on the "Star" are obvious, look at the cam on the rip off, less material than the Zippo and its off to one side, while the Zippo is nice and straight. Again, similar thing with the flint wheel, not straight as it should be. The knurling on the "Star" is a joke, just to add more to how cheap this thing gets. Lastly, highly doubt they'd fix your lighter when it breaks from normal use.

    Zippo for what they are are over priced. They too are cheap mass produced simple lighters. But like most things American they have created their own reputation and iconic value through pure BS, product placement etc. I have 30 odd Zippos but find the casings boring and unless you go for the Armor then you're paying over the odds for mass produced cheap pressed metal. What I do is fit the Zippo insert into the heavier and better looking case of the Star. Both are decent but I've found too that people don't nick your lighter when they see its not got Zipo on the bottom :) .

    • @Weaponsandstuff93
      @Weaponsandstuff93  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't really say the Zippo is overpriced, £10 for a lighter isn't very much, although the brass Zippo is a much better model.
