I know theres been a backlash to IDWs TF run in the past few years, especially with newer fans, and Getaways characterization is part of it. I think James Roberts did a pretty solid job of making an antagonist who's motivations are completely understandable and actions are completely abhorrent.
The Japanese G1 stuff gets a little wild with renames. In Masterforce, Getaway becomes Lightfoot, and Slapdash becomes Roadking. Both or hotshot speedster types too!

Transformers has one of the most extensive casts of characters outside Marvel Comics. Also inside Marvel Comics.
Or is Marvel in the Transformers universe!
I enjoy the review, and history of Getaway. It definitely enriches the character.

He's turned out to quite despicable in IDW even though I can understand his initial motivation - at first.
