I literally just found out that Andy Goram passed on Saturday & thats a great loss to his Family & Friends but also The Rangers Football Club & as a Celtic Fan im first saddened at his passing but i also remember his cat like instincts as a Goal Keeper for Rangers & out of respect for Andy thats why ive only spelt Rangers rather than The Rangers as Andy was an absolutely infuriating amazing goal keeper & though born in England i never saw a man so proud to play for Scotland & Rangers... I could write so many positive things about Andy Goram's ability as a goal keeper but every football club & their fans that saw him between the sticks were either amazed or gutted , as his players were happy he bailed them out & opposition fans were furious as they thought 100% sure that was a goal , but nobody told Andy this & it wasnt going in the net once he locked onto the ball... I lost count the amount of super saves Andy made when i could have swore a goal was scored but again not if Andy got to it first... To the one they called the " Goalie " RIP Andy Goram & know you lived a life that millions around the world & in Scotland will remember you for & for your amazing goal keeping skills... The Oxford fans started to chant 'Goalie, goalie, what's the score?' Andy started to count on his fingers pretending he'd lost count! Saw some amazing saves though. He definitely kept us in the old Division 2 at a higher position than we probably merited. RIP to a Latics legend.
When I met The Goalie, I asked him which hand he saved with and gave him a firm handshake. Also tried to get him to sign for our amateur league team, he politely declined!

Andy Goram the best Scottish goalkeeper ever 👏 👍 I used to go to Ibrox in the 90's and he was a big part of why Rangers were successful along with McCoist and Hateley, Gascoigne, Laudrup, McCall, Brown, Huistra, McPherson, Gough etc.. The Goalie came to Dalmellington for a sportsmans dinner evening and stayed for a week! Great company, great man who had time for everybody and will be sadly missed.
Talking about Gazza scoring against Goram at the Euros, there was a pre season game at Ibrox (Nike family day out) it was called. 11 Rangers players against another 11 Rangers players. We had a massive squad back then. Gazza scored against Goram in the game and tried to do his dentist chair celebration again but Goram wasn't having it and chased after him to kick him up the backside haha. It was all in good spirits though, Gazza was laughing his head off when he was running from him.
Remember just after he signed for Rangers he let in a 20-yarder in the first minute against Hearts at Tynecastle. He certainly more than made up for it over the coming years
I think a lot of people might forget that while at Hibernian, Goram also represented Scotland at cricket. He was a pretty good cricketer but this was something that he had to give up when he joined Rangers.
