There’s no way at least one of their actual children won’t end up destroying all of those dolls in the middle of the night by the time they’re 14 years old.
As a woman who has had 9 miscarriages, I can honestly say this would be the MOST unhealthy way to manage that loss. You have to acknowledge the pain, grief, and myriad of emotions that come with pregnancy loss.
Agreed. Would be like an adult family member passing away, and then getting a doll to "help" deal/process. It could be beneficial to help for a little bit, but for the rest of your life is a little excessive. But as long as their actual children are being looked after, it's not really harming anyone but themselves
I'm pretty sure they know that, but not everyone is ready to acknowledge that, sometimes the brain goes for unhealthy coping mechanisms. Even if you yourself had miscarriages, I don't think it's right to judge others for how they handle theirs

clay? i have a friend who makes reborns and they arent made of clay they are like a vinyl material (tho i dont know they could still use the oven probably if they are someone who actually sculpts the molds for them the molds can probably be made in an oven as well, i dont know how that part works or if you would need a more industrial oven that got to a higher temperature or if a regular oven would work. but i know some people use heat-set paints to paint them too and they do put them in the oven sometimes to set the paints. my friend who makes them buys kits and puts them together and paints them, she doesnt actually sculpt the molds but she paints kits and stuffs them and puts them all together, roots in the hair, etc. she uses acrylic paint and dry-brush technique tho so she doesnt have to use an oven lol. (my friend has a channel on youtube too with a couple thousand subs, its @Mommycassreborns -she makes dolls on her channel and also does some other crafts sometimes like making musical instruments, diamond art, and just chatting about life stuff)

I’ve done a lot of looking into this since I’m an artist and wondered if I could make money selling these, since I already would do portraits of babies. They pretty much just switch the diapers out, not throw them out. I’m sure there are a couple weirdos out there that throw them away, but no one I’ve seen.
I never looked too far into it, but I believe there was a big uproar online, specifically tiktok, about reborn parents buying up formula and wasting it on their "babies". Not only is that wasteful and expensive on a regular day, but during a formula shortage incredibly insensitive to babies who actually need it to survive.
As someone who had a miscarriage at 5 months I think having these dolls would make it worse. I honestly just had to accept it and move on. It was terrible but holding onto the pain doesn't help. These dolls just hold onto it I think. My opinion.
Maybe for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad for other people. If they find it comforting but are able to function normally otherwise, and have real relationships, it’s not really bad.

Learning languages is actually really easy if you hear them spoken since birth think about your native language vs a language you learn later in life now just imagine you learning that language alongside the one you learned from birth. It’d be relatively “easy”.
As a mother I can say I hated the newborn phase. Maybe it's just me but they're so fragile. My stress and anxiety levels were so high ! I had hardly any sleep and panicked whenever hearing the newborn even cough a little!
Yea my friend would tell me about how she'd start crying if her baby like looked weird at all. She'd wake up crying and panicking before even checking on the baby
@@FailedNoName Funny story, third night being home from the hospital, Baby sleeps beside me in a bassinet. Husband and I, both lacking sleep, were finally sleeping peacefully. I woke up and looked to a recliner in our room. I saw it, a dead baby on the chair. In shock, I shook my husband awake and pointed to the chair. I was crying but couldn't move. He saw it too, jumped up and ran to the chair. Then he grabbed the " baby" and picked it up. It's at that point, when it unraveled, I could see that it was just a towel. I looked to my left at the bassinet and our baby was peacefully asleep.. The fact that my husband saw the same thing as I did is crazy to me still to this day! Lack of sleep and stress does CRAZZZZY things to your mind lol Newborns ARE NOT EASY lol
I love the newborn stage, but only for how easily our son fell asleep in my arms. So beautiful, makes my heart melt just remembering it. Other than that, the stress of "OH MY GOD, IS HE OKAY!!!" was not a fun picnic. I woke up to every single tiny movement and sound he made.
I had a miscarriage in between my first 2 . It was due in August 2000. In 2019, I was 42 and surprised with a pregnancy. She was born in August. I like to think that she was the baby I lost many years ago. That her little spirit decided it wasn't the right time then. Now I have a beautiful, happy, silly, smart 2.5 year old. But starting over in my 40's is so much more challenging!!
In our culture we believe that happens. When your child isn’t ready to be born yet the body miscarries them and when they’re ready, their soul comes back to you.
I'm sorry you went through that but it's great to hear about the new baby! My mom managed to have 3 children in her 40's, but it can be very rare to have kids at that age. It sounds like you are very lucky and blessed. I wish your family the best!
So what happens when you have one of these dolls in the car, properly strapped in like a real baby, and you get into a wreck? Could you imagine the first responders reaction upon finding out it's a doll? That'd be wild.
Good point!!!! First responders prioritize vehicles when they see car seats and carriers! That's where the baby on board thing comes from. There are some messed up implications here.
I think everyone would benefit from therapy, she doesn't have to get rid of the dolls, since they seem to be a passion of hers, and help her cope with her loss, but talking about her feelings with a professional (if she hasn't already) would help her. Also, Therapy Dolls are a thing, not only for people who had had miscarriages, but also for people with dementia, Alzheimer and anxiety; they are make ppl feel calm, safe and useful.
Yeah right , that could lead to some real trust issues and imagine your earliest memories of bonding and emotional intimacy being with an inanimate object.
@@annataymond9529 I take your point Anna but your toys never looked exactly the same as you . Also these aren't toddlers playing with their toys , they are not there as toys . these are your mothers , other children. The memories you'd have of this would be before you could talk or understand that much about the differences between living and dead, animate and inanimate. Imagine your earliest memories being in a crib at night in the dark surrounded by three dolls . To make things even more confusing, one of the dolls isn't a doll but your real living sibling but you have no way of knowing why they are different. I agree with you Anna that these dolls when a child is old enough to understand wouldn't be a problem. If they know it's a doll an that dolls are different than real people then there's no way it could be like this. I'm no expert but I do know it's our earliest memories that can be the root of deep traumas that create personality disorders and mental health issues later in children's development. Both my daughters had loads of dolls so I'm not against dolls in anyway. This isn't abut toys for the children though, this is some game the mum is playing Anna and I think that mums game could have some unexpected effects and consequences for her children. Though of course I really really hope that isn;t the case.
@@HitTheBricks89 I think you’re reading to far into this. They probably won’t even remember a time when they thought they were real. It’s not like the kids are just gonna wake up one day and think their siblings died.
@@annataymond9529no, but they might remember their mom treating these dolls like they’re real children every. single. day. I think by moving on people usually means going back to a normal life, working, taking care of things that matters in your life. I think it's more about how spending hours everyday doing useless tasks to replace actually taking care of a baby that they've unfortunately lost is still being fully stuck into the tragedy.
@@Aerosklice Until you have lost a child you have no idea how it will affect you. It is easy to say 'oh I would never do this or that' but it truly is something that everyone handles very differently. Grief has no time limit, and it shouldn't. My child will be gone for 4 years this April and I still go through issues around it in my own way. A grieving process should never be cut short for the comfort or convenience of others, or because they find your behavior strange. And perhaps one day the people with these behaviors will find their peace and be able to move on, but that's the path they will have to find.
@@SuperPandaKisser I didn't say that I knew better than you. However these people have other kids that need care, and when you are a parent even if you are struggling you have to make sure your children are being raised as good as you can. It's not a normal way to operate as an adult who needs to take care of vulnerable children. I was just saying all that because you were being harsh about them saying they didn't move on to act like this. Also they're capitalizing on this weird situations by bringing their kids and the fake ones out in public and filming people's reaction. It's gonna be awkward for their real children later in life.

$10k on a doll seems a bit much, when you have 2 growing daughters to provide for. I don't know their finances so to them it may not be. But that is the only angle where I can see people saying they are mistreating their growing daughters. Otherwise, it's their business. I get that it's weird, but it's similar someone walking around with a support bunny or wearing a comforting colour/fabric. I'd only be offended if I was forced to treat her supportive items as real babies like if she tried to hold some false entitlement on their behalf.
My daughter has two of these reborn dolls. Police threatened to bust my car window on a hot day when it was left in the car. Another time my mother (Gramma) got yelled at for tucking the doll under her arm. People seriously can't tell they are fake. I paid $1000 a doll hand painted. They are not cheap. Can go for thousands

I was thinking that was probably the case lol I collect BJDs because I think they're gorgeous, but I have met the people who have the creepy relationships with their dolls.
coming from a family of six kids when they said 'its hard feeding six kids every morning 🤪', it actually kinda pissed me off. like thats a big struggle my parents actually had.
Why would that piss you off though....? How does that invalidate you in any way? I don't get this outrage culture. They could have just as well said "It's hard feeding two kids every morning", but they said six because they are obviously traumatized and cope with their dolls. That has literally zero to do with you.
@@DwynTwo Don't act like this is acceptable only because they had trauma. Plenty of people have gone through what they have and didn't resort to this. The newborn experience without the actual poop and cries at night, okay. Though I agree it looks unhealthy and really it is, it's obsession from a trauma, but as long as the girls, the real children are raised well, then I guess it's all fine 🤷♀️ Edit: Reading below, I know it's part of therapy but if it's going on for so long, at some point, some things need to be let go of. Either way, if the real human girls are raised fine then it's all fine.
Pewds and Ken friendship has been really strong since the first time they met before and now 10 years and counting! That's amazing, I wish my friends will stay just like what Felix and Ken is today
They literally all look like dead babies. It’s so unbelievably creepy and anyone who does this needs all the therapy. I’ve suffered miscarriages, and it’s traumatizing. But thankfully I’m self-aware enough to seek therapy when I’ve needed it. What this woman is doing is uh hundred percent psychologically damaging to her real life children.
I enjoyed the baby simulation until it stopped crying or anything myself, I think she malfunctioned the last day. She was super cute, I named her Clementine. Then, it was like 'this is creepy'.
when she was talking about her favorite doll, for a second I thought she meant her favorite child and thought "damn imagine your parents saying a doll is their favorite child."
"I wanted to have that all the time" That's why I baby sit my friends little ones.. I get to have the fun with them and give them back after :) then go home to my 14 and 12 year old babies lol But for real though.. I think while you're still at a certain age, as a woman, in your mind you know you don't want/ can't support or handle more kids.. but your emotions and heart/ body tell you that you want another baby.. and it is actually really hard sometimes.. but I mean you just deal with it I guess..
I think this is her way of dealing with it. There are women of all ages who have this hobby. Many older women especially it seems. Some retirement homes even purchase these reborn babies to help with their dementia and alzheimers patients because holding a baby calms them and gives them something to care for. Personally I don't see it too different from any other hobby. It's not hurting anyone and it makes them happy so it's whatever.
You don't just move on from losing a child I had a miscarriage but god blessed me with my son shortly after but that doesn't mean I don't think about my first baby boy I lost its heartbreaking but I know you guys mean well I love your videos
Reborn dolls are so neat, I have one that was given to me. They are good for therapy reasons, and or people collect them for their personal collection. A lot of these babies are weighted and feels like a real baby. People who say they are NOT real and are NOT a real baby do not have any sorta problem and need therapy, it's the people who think they are REAL that may need therapy. It's for people who want the babies and can't have them, or people who want that feeling to last. I can't have babies, it's a good therapy tool. People will often bring them to elderly people in homes, cause it's good therapy.
It does seem like a good way to have a surrogate baby if you can’t have kids or to practice with when you are about to have a baby. It wouldn’t be any different then how we would practice in school with like, a bag of flour or an egg- that sort of thing. When it does end up being a problem I think is when you lose a child and have an exact replica of that child and take care of it as if it were still alive. I think that calls for some therapy because that’s not in any way healthy.
@@supershasha I have honestly never come across someone who had an exact replica of a baby they lost. I have only seen replicas of children they have already had and miss the baby stage of that kid.
@@CasualVFlowerEnjoyer My mom had gotten my brother done and I'm the oldest.. however he was her last child so i understand why..however his replica wasn't a reborn and was just so she could have that to look at. It's for sure a bit uncommon to see someone get an exact replica of a baby they lost..people usually get babies that have similarities to them but not exact because that's painful.
It reminds me of the scene in Bojack Horseman where his elderly mother with dementia keeps fondling over a baby doll thinking its her real baby. Bojack is extremely bothered by it because she never showed that much love and care to him as a child, and when things escalate he throws the doll over his balcony, which absolutely devastates his mother. The show is really a crazy emotional roller coaster, if you didn't notice already lol.
@@kellisuzuki8889 I loved that show! It was really tragic in a beautiful sort of way. And that scenario is pretty realistic because reborn dolls are actually often donated to or bought by nursing homes for their dementia and alzheimers patients because they make the elders happy and give them something to focus on and care for. Some reborn artists dedicate their artwork solely for that purpose and donate all the dolls they make.
I know as a woman that was not able to have kids I had thought about getting a doll like these but I decided that would be a little weird and didn't think it was a healthy thing to do as far as my mental health. They aren't hurting anyone but apparently his father was too embarrassed and told him that he and his wife have to stop with the dolls and youtube or be fired . So they moved away and live the life they want to live.
All reborn owners aren’t 24 hour “reborn parents “.Reborns are therapy dolls for me personally as I’ve suffered from ptsd, depression, anxiety, etc.Recently I’ve suffered a miscarriage and plan on adding two new babies to my collection after I sell 7 of the ones I already have.I am keeping a full body silicone baby boy and am adding a full body silicone baby girl and a reborn toddler.I see how people see it’s weird but the dolls do bring out the parenting instinct in people and help people with mental issues to focus on something other than what they are going through.hopefully this helps someone in the reborn community that’s watching this not feel so weird and to be able to laugh of themselves.
Fyi keeping the dolls after the loss of a child isn’t really to get over the death or the loss it is to immortalize their memory and help the reborn owner cope with the pain of the loss, by no means is it a replacement. many people use it as a hobby, like people collect action figures or toy cars. Not so weird if you compact it to a more common thing.
Is this not a form of child abuse? I'd feel pretty unloved if my parents had 4 fake babies that they seemed to love and care for. I'd be like uh what about me I'm actually alive and growing
I have a few of these dolls as well, we collect them for all different reasons therapy dolls or simply just because we like to collect them same as collecting pop funkos they’re displayed and looked at, some people like to roleplay and take photos x
I actually collect all kinds of dolls and one of the dolls in my collection is a reborn I got her last year after wanting one since I was maybe 16 I use her as a therapy doll since she’s the only one in my collection big enough for that purpose she helps with stress a lot and just the comfort of holding her you know provides that emotional stress relief I understand why some people take it as far as they do you can’t judge until you actually do it you know it’s the same feeling of an actual baby except there’s no crying I love babies but I don’t want babies so my one and only reborn is the only baby that I need
I never knew this swedish saying of "planting your last potato". For a Finn it sounds actually very threathening... Isn't it implying: "You won't be alive to see the next spring" :D
I’m with you on this one this makes collectors look nutty lol! And I don’t believe for a minute anyone actually lives their life like this. I’m an artist of these dolls and there’s another side to collecting and the artwork of it. No one ever talks about that side of the hobby though because if you don’t act crazy you don’t get noticed in social media! I’d love to be a guest on your show and explain from an artist perspective what these reborn’s are for for most collectors and the work that goes into making them. There are many reasons these dolls are collected however only videos like this get attention. The hobby is so much bigger than that. It would be awesome if some day this hobby can be taken more seriously and viewed from more than just one perspective of “crazy’ lady’s playing with dolls.

Yeah i dont miss it either
The newborn phase was great when I wore the baby in a wrap but at night for sleep it was IS SHE STILL BREATHING AGHHHHHHHHH
I'm so glad things turned out for you and your family!

Absolutely! Please normalize this! Mental health is so important and if this is someone’s way to cope, let it be.

Those poor real babies lmaoo, imagine growing up and finding out that 4 of your siblings aren't even real
Yeah right , that could lead to some real trust issues and imagine your earliest memories of bonding and emotional intimacy being with an inanimate object.
@@HitTheBricks89 I don’t think it’s that much different than a toy. I thought my toys were real as a little kid, it didn’t emotionally scar me
@@annataymond9529 I take your point Anna but your toys never looked exactly the same as you .
@@annataymond9529no, but they might remember their mom treating these dolls like they’re real children every. single. day. I visit my child's grave every year and will continue to do so until I no longer can. There is no true "moving on" from some emotional tragedies.
That’s why I find that argument kind of upsetting.
Spending most of your awake time taking care of a doll (that cost several thousand dollars that could go to the care and future of the children that are here and healthy and need their parents) is definitely cutting down on time you could spend on taking care of yourself of your family usually.

People spend that much on art and jewelry all the time, they don’t need that. Diamonds are just rocks.
I mean, they said they could be up to that much, I doubt they paid $10,000 for each one. But I could be wrong

Why seek out public reaction if you're going to cry about not only getting positive responses ? Pyoodes is right, it's only going to get worse.
I know as a woman that was not able to have kids I had thought about getting a doll like these but I decided that would be a little weird and didn't think it was a healthy thing to do as far as my mental health.
Not so weird if you compact it to a more common thing.

i know it may seem weird to us, but it's an actual, serious coping mechanism. we should respect it.
I'm with Felix 100%, this is weird, you're weird!😂😂😂
She said they don’t come to life… i instantly thought of “baby alives” 🤭😳
5:46 I wish I could tag Baby Björn in clips that has pewdiepie talking about how he’d treat his future children 😂
