I didn't know Santorin played for IG.
Not much he can do when all his lanes are getting pushed in super hard, the enemy jungler just freely roaming in his jg and the enemy support on Shen so he can never really set up a gank without it being in fnatics favor. Fnatic won this game in champ select and I think IG underestimated them.

Great game by Fnatic. Suffocated Invictus Gaming and won every lane and choked them out of the game. What was even more impressive, they did it by going back to old picks. Hecarim top, which I don't think many people thought would be seeing much with all the talk of the Juggernauts, Shen support and Sivir who got nerfed several patches ago. IG in turn would bring out Riven top, Skarner jungle, Ashe for AD carry which was being played in scrims and in soloQ a lot because the crystal arrow gives a team that needed engage if you take a juggernaut top. Over all I thought IG won that draft.
What I didn't expect was how poorly IG played that lane swap that they initiated. Yes Fnatic made a small mistake in bouncing the wave back and allowed Zzitai to teleport to bottom to get that farm. But over all Kid really showed why he isn't a good carry since he had a solo lane by himself and when Rekkles rotated to top out CSed him by a large margin.
But when you closely look at the game and what each player did, then things became clearer as to why Fnatic completely controlled the game and stomped IG.
1) Fnatic's comp had a lot of synergy and allowed Fnatic to counter the pick comp that IG built. Shen with his global gave the solo laners more freedom to push forward and push waves in. Azir created large zones of control for Fnatic and it was very hard for IG to choose their battles because of it and with Sivir, all Fnatic were doing is pushing lanes in.
2) The only match up IG had a decent chance against was Riven against Hecarim and Riven who could of lane bullied Hecarim especially after Fnatic messed up on killing the bottom tower. What did Huni respond with? He built armor to counter Riven and as soon as he got Frozen Heart he was able to trade very effectively against Riven. He didn't even build Homegaurd and his tier 2 boots came very late into the game. Add to the smart build choice by Huni was Rekkles and Febiven building QuicK Silver Sash to counter the Ashe and Skarner ultimates. Simply nullified the IG pick comp.
3) Then you have to question Kakao's build path. He built Sightstone first item, didn't even complete his Cinderhulk until after. his Skarner was much weaker in the early game when Reignover on an early game champion Elise was dictating the tempo early on. Kakao was forced to farm nearly the whole game. Reignover for his part. I think people have to stop saying he is the weak point for Fnatic. People need to look how he plays and see what he does on the map. He is constantly on the move. He will farm his side, then visit a lane, if there isn't anything he can do, then he either goes back to farming or counter jungling. But unlike some junglers who will sit in a bush for 30 seconds to try to set up a gank, Reignover is constantly doing something and if you look at the CS numbers between Kakao and Reignover. Reignover either matches it or beats it all during the game. This is what separates Reignover from any jungler in his region. He is a hybrid carry jungler that will gank his lanes to start them snowballing like a normal carry jungler would do but Reignover also controls the map with the way he plays constantly being on the move, farming his side and then counter jungling. Rookie maybe got one blue buff all game long. Every other time, Reignover controlled the IG blue buff. This isn't by chance, this is how Reignover plays.
Really good start for Fnatic. Hope this continues for them.

I'm eating my words. Wow. What a great performance by Fnatic. Invictus had a shaky pick & ban phase, imo... but wow, Fnatic absolutely crushed them.
+Christopher Hodge It showes that you can't say that "someome can beat someome". Now every team is stronger than ever and everyone can win (I mean FNC, ahq, IG, LGD, SKT, EDG). Worlds are more interesting now. I'm proud of FNC.

2018 and it still isn't LOL. With the LPL on top, I don't see too much quality in LCS teams with the exception of Fnatic. Not only that, but trust me when I say this, LCK teams will come back fighting in 2019 like never seen before

I'm still new to LoL and this might sound like a nooby question but, why do people stay out of their lanes in competitive play? Like shouldn't the adc and support stay bot while azir stays mid and hecarim top?
Everything to generate gold advantages, more favorable matchups .

hi ill tdlry to explain it as clearly as possible.
So basically in the early minutes of the game the tower on bot was taken. Imagine if the toplaner of iG stayed, he would be easy gankable since he has no protection from the turret. That's why he went top and tried to create a (failed) 2v4 situation. He basically had to wait till tje minions bot went back to his turret. You vould see that Huni did farm quite far in the lane, but only because he had his jungler nearby to help him if anything happened.
In like the first 2 minutes of the game both teams group up and invade the enemy jungle and try to get some deep wards down (this tactic is used in almost any game). This gives information wether the enemy adc and supp start bot or top, and were the jungler will start. iG deceided to lane swap to avoid an unfavorable matchup and went top. Since the need of a support is a bit unnecesary when you only face the enemy toplaner, they leave the lane and roam the map to make plays. In the first few minutes you saw both supports go invade the enemy jungle to try to harass them (jungle camps do a lot of damage early game).

+Double Humped Swagger yes thats exactly why. Although this may seem rather simple it requires the skill to analyze the game second by second, make splitsecond decision making, and have good communication were the enemies are and what you are about to do which all take lots and lots of practice. Neither of these requirements can be found in soloq. Communication is most of the time a big issue with teams since most players dont speak the same language (iG have both Chinese and Korean players and Fnatic has Koreans, a French, a Dutch and a Swede for example)

IG lacked good initiation. All their hard engage requires a Flash to execute. Fnatic shut them down by picking Azir and Sivir

It was pretty damn embarrassing for IG. Idk if they were nervous because it's their first time at worlds but IG looked pathetic. Fnatic looking so strong holy shit!

There was no way they were gonna win this game. Why keep playing a game where you are getting destroyed? All that will do is tilt your whole team. Good call on IG to just ff at that point
Kai Hamasaki You are 99% right, it was almost impossible to come back for IG. But surrender is still a really big hit for a team especially in this part of the world tournament. Every team must play only 6 games and the 2 with most win will continue. Now IG know that in 1 week they will have to fight again against a team that dominate them.
Some team just prefer to try and hope in that 1% of luck.

that stupid commentator was really really irritating me... the first dragon fight he said feb instantly cleansed the arrow at the start of the fight.... no it missed feb and reckless spell shielded it... then in the replay he says "as you can see feb cleanses the arrow right away" no he didnt... then when they seige mid he says... " this is a risky play as you can see no cleanse on feb..." good lord dude horrible... he still has cleanse; use your damn eyes.
