Most of the music is made by Kevin Sherwood who works at treyarch and this was when the mode was new and made in spare time the lyrics are from the lore of the maps usually. This one is from the perspective of a zombie who is waiting for the player (the one) to come and kill them and set them free

Gotta love the zombies songs, you should do a stream/s where you go and try to listen to them in game by collecting the items for the Easter egg

A few of the tracks, including this one, are originally from Call of Duty World at War not Black Ops. Which the quality not only shows its age but as well the fact that the zombies game mode in World at War was done as a side project and presumably didn’t get anywhere near the focus and budget that it gets later down the line.

Exactly right. Zombies was more of a passion project and my understanding is originally Kevin Sherwood and Elena Siegman were making the music in between work.

This song originated from Shi No Numa in Call of Duty World at War which the game launched in 2008. This was the second DLC for Call of Duty World at War

For me, it's the greatest song in from Zombies map, the feeling on the map in Japan, in an abandon house in a sort of swamp with some zombies spawn from the dirt and in the swamp water; the song behind, punchy and slow, when you try to zigzag under zombies with the water who slow you a little make a feel of you will never safe everywhere you'll go, the filling when you have the song and you activate the mill trap and hope to survive some more round in this swamp.
I love so much Shi No Numa (the name of the CoD Zombies map), it's in the original set of Zombie map (with Nacht der Untoten, Verrückt and Der Rise) in CoD World at War, the general vibe of the map and "The One" are just so perfect for this map and that's why it's my favorite song + map in Zombies of CoD 😊

You should compare it to the remastered version. Pretty sure it’s a whole re-recording, vocals and all. Sounds studio quality, which makes sense because by that point zombies wasn’t just a side project and Elena Seigman had a couple metal songs under her belt. She had none when the original soundtrack was recorded
About the slow tempo: the first 15-20 seconds of the original song would play every time you and your team all died. You could turn on the full song with the vocals, but the guitar was iconic as the game over song. I remember from the Verruckt map. It would show clips inside the overrun jail with all the player kill counts on the scoreboard before you’d all get sent back to the lobby. It was perfect for that purpose
Every time I play it and the guitar comes in I get hit with that feeling of frustration that would come after grinding for an hour+ just to die a few rounds away from setting a new personal record, mixed with that wave of relief knowing the chaos was over for a minute. Straight to the feels every time

this song is litterally the second song produced for the mode, so yh by todays standards, not too good mixing but it still fits the vibe they were going for and i believe he did this intentionally (judging by the other songs)

some one correct me if im wrong but I think the developers made the songs Elena Siegman was a developer for call of duty and she was asked to make music for zombies so that were the home vibes come from

Leon straight lying to u lol also this song is originally from world at war (exactly 2008) on shinonuma (the swamp map) and I believe you held X (or square) on a phone for a like, 10 seconds or something.
And it was the second easter egg song to release.

Bro you could not be more wrong about the song you were and are completely way off on this. You need to understand the song and the map it was attached too. The map played slower because the map was a swamp and parts of the map if you walked through slowed your character down
