A lot of people (myself included) instantly mute their opponent at the start of the game. That's why it's highly recommended to equip the Cassandra Nova Avatar to signal that you intend to donate bubs just in case.
I havent gottan Cassandra yet. Missed out on alot of time with this collection event with life stuff going on. Oh well. I have to say, i have yet to run across 1 person doing this. Everyone has been pummeling my ass into the ground, and emoting like crazy when they win. Been super encouraging. Lol
