- Update on Bengaluru's 2nd International Airport Location : A high-powered meeting held in the Vidhana Soudha on Friday extensively discussed at least six potential locations for the airport, with the consensus leaning towards Somanahalli village as it is located in the diametrically opposite direction of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) 70 km away.

Nelamangala is a gateway to whole Karnataka , has rail , metro , road , industrial corridor, existing airport connectivity , nice road link , prr , strr and govt lands ..It seems a good option..

Its already too much traffic in Tumkur road as it is gateway for whole Karnataka. It is not a good idea to build an airport in Tumkur Road

Somanhalli or kanakapura is close to Bannerghatta national park so there is no chance for an airport or skydeck will be allowed there ...
Correct and logical. Skydeck is supposed to be at Hemmigepura which is BSK 9th block surroundings!! So, not very far from Somanahalli. Looks like lots of contradiction at play though an airport in south will be good! My gut feeling is - it will be nelamangala because almost all the AAI critical parameters have been satisfied as per reports! Keeping fingers crossed!!

Nelamangala is best place for new Airport , because of Tumkur HAL helicopter production & flight testing for defence it needs privacy , Tumkur also not recommedable for civil Airport.

Already there is an airport in east bangalore, if the 2nd airport is built somewhere in the south it would be helpful. The passenger crowd is more from south bangalore

Somanahalli is the correct place. All BLR can be serviced by two airports equally. Otherwise BLR development will become unbalanced if it comes in Nelemangala.
Agree provided the skydeck is dropped as it is useless and.money can be used to fix basic infra ...such wrong prioritise

Somanahalli is the best choice. It will help koramangala, Sarjapur , Electronics city and South Bangalore residents.
The sky deck project is also close by and one of them has to be sacrificed..airport or skydeck. Let's see what govt decides...Bangalore near kanakapura will no doubt help areas you mentioned and even for people across the border.

Inna full list ellu sikkathillia but hulikunte and also doddabelavangala idhe antha Deccan herald sudhi nodithe some time back.. In fact one person from doddabelavangala has said he has been offered 1.45 cr per acre!

Sir my brother has site in Kaggalipura very near to smonahalli as per my knowledge most of the area belongs to banneraghatta national park... there is no space to build an international airport like devanahalli i guess and moreover space between kanakapura road and bannerghatta road is very small to build runway
Let's see finally what gets finalized...there is an elephant corridor too as part of bannerughata extension. Also most important there are 15 parameters of AAI to be satisfied. So there, nelamangala is all clear now...no idea about somanahalli.

They should have built the airport in Nelamangala
Still it is open...let's wait for this latest twist to get finalised...AAI should also approve based on some 15 parameters...so whichever location suits most of the parameters will get it. MB patil also has said it will not be a political decision...so hopefully objectivity will prevail!

True. There is not much scope to grow/develop areas in Bangalore South becuase it is close the vorder with Tamilnadu, whereas there is lot of scope to develop Bangalore in North side, especially towards Tumkur. If they develop North Bangalore, it will help both Southern and central part of Karnataka

Yes, DKShi and mant other Congress leaders have bought lands in Mysur Road, Banneghatta Road, Nice Road. They want to increqse their wealth by building airport in that area. That's why they stopped the propasal to build Skydec in Bangalore South
