My favorite song by Uriah Heep. Mick Box tears it up. You can actually hear the audible click every time he kicks in his wawa pedal. The rest of the album is super good.
Uriah Heep's early years were absolutely amazing. So many great songs were produced by this heavy band. Among their best: Gypsy, Look at Yourself, Easy Livin' and July Morning. Keep on rockin'.
I think "Salisbury" is one of the best compositions of Uriah Heap. I have no idea how did they create it! The big orchestra, chorus, keyboards and guitar solo - everything is great. Thank you for your reaction bro!
I can't have any comment to this song. Just too great. Composition, execution and the voice of David Byron. I was 13 when I heard this for the first time and it is one of those songs that is concreted in my being. Thanks for your generous reaction. Rock on Bro! 🤟🤟🤟🤟
I'm glad you checked this one out, it's not "everyone's cup of tea" But it's important to hit on your rock journey. (IMO) I think of this song by UH as one of the building blocks of progressive rock. anyway, great reaction as always Here's another one of their songs, if interested. "Uriah Heep - Easy Livin' - Alternative Version (Official Audio)" --Easy Livin' is a song released as the second single from their 1972 album "Demons and Wizards". It was the band's first hit in the U.S and the only Top 40 hit, there and peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100.
You made a difficult and courageous choice, a suite that is not for everyone and from a band that was still in the process of maturing. Try listening to "July Morning" and "Paradise/The Spell", they are more accessible, progressive, mature and spectacular works.
Thank you very much, I forgot this song; I assumed more of the standard live songs. My first album was LAY. Music that I “repurchase” often stays less deeply in my ears. I'm looking forward to listening to the first two albums again in more detail. This is the main reason why I watch and especially listen to such video reactions from the younger generation. Have fun with good music.
Salisbury (not necessarily representative of UH work) and GYPSY are prog highlights from the first two albums. Then came the partly more commercial rock alben Look At Your Self, Demons&Wizards, maybe Magicians Birthday, then UH became more and more poppy. For me the best album is the black Live from 1973 with the 14' Gypsy, 12' July Morning and 9' Circle Of Hands versions, as well as the 8' single hit Look At Yourself; not to forget the final 8' R'n'R Medley.
The early '70s were a crazy time of excess (yea! thank you very much). Bands kept expanding their music and the production costs kept exploding until the recording industry ran into a big recession, costs cut, and punk arrived. There will never again be what that era was, a unique time rocked with big-budget artistic expression. With your hunger for great music with interesting lyrics that take you on a trip, then when is supper ready? Somebody step up an sponsor 'Supper's Ready' by Genesis! We want a meal, not a snack. (whoa, I don't want to imply that THIS epic was a snack. Uriah heeped a ton on our plates) Sorry, I will stop with the corny puns. My bad.
Heep is still going strong today. Check out their 2023 album Chaos and Colour. Every bit as good as their earlier albums some 50 odd years ago. They never did create another song using an orchestra though.
Fajn reakce, ale představte si, že já nerozumím textům a přesto mne ta hudba fascinuje! Hudba má sbližovat národy a texty to nemají měnit! 😉 Fine response, but imagine that I don't understand the lyrics and yet I'm fascinated by the music! Music is supposed to bring nations together and lyrics are not supposed to change that! 😉 Kdyby šlo jen o texty, tak si tady múžete recitovat básně a nikdo na Váš kanál koukat nebude! If it was just about the lyrics, you could recite poems here and no one would watch your channel!
Hard to confuse this with Peter Gabriel's 'Solsbury Hill' (even with the flute). LOL With the swelling 'choral' sections and variety of musical instruments building drama, I am reminded of Yes, EL&P or Genesis. Great melody with Bernie Shaw's distinctive voice ringing through. Then they break into a nice jazz fusion section. Driving bass lines throughout (so prog!) Epic.

DAMN this is a deep cut! Excellent choice!

Live, is one of the best Rock bands ever. I saw them with Deep Purple. UH blew them away that night. 1972 or 73 in Califorina.
Wow. What a great concert!

UH were of the great unsung heroes of the pre- metal Rock influenced by deep Prog with their unique mystical storytelling
Crazy track. Nice transitions.

This is as good as any. Epic! Your picks are perfect
i may not allways stick through all review. yet i know its history. time is short. cared about it, thank you for its time.
Hoooo _Uriah Heep .... Lady in Black !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please
UH 3rd album; is "LOOK AT YOURSELF", which was the album they were showcasing that night.
I still think this is the best fusion of orchestra and rock band ever recorded.

Saw Uriah Heep live a few times. They were amazing. This is my favourite track. Ken Hensley was the Tuomas Holopainen of his day.
if stairway is No1 this is No2. 17 minutes of unadulterated genius.

Thank you! Have fun on your re-listens as well!

Salisbury also has the proto-prog metal Bird of Prey.
excellent band

David Byron singing ...not Bernie Shaw
@@babbott57 Thanks. I was wondering if that was right. I am not a knowledgeable UH fan, obviously.
Do your self a favour... the next song should be EASY LIVING...of early album.. say no more
Try something else from them not right song
Eh. Good try by Uriah Heep on this one. But it just doesn't hit. It's more like a so-so movie tune.
