All our smokers ran out of their American smokes they brought with them, and so we were introduced to beedis!! Man, those first few had a huge kick to them . . .

When iam 23 age i faild my 5 years degree it made me too much depress, cant even make CV without degree cant get a job which i studying so i started to smoke beedi to kill my stress, it cheap and has 10 peice per packet..i smokee daily 1 packet of beedi for 2 years it is so addictive and stresskiller temparary but it caused me dark circle around my eyes and yellow eyes and dark lip sleep insomania and chest pain now iam 25 years age since last month i start to feel chest pain more and more my body smoking capacity reached end, cant even smoke one puff, so i stoped smoking now its been 1 month No Smoking❤ and my eyes dark circle gone my eyes become white lips become red and now i can sleep at night and my stress all gone now my health is good❤.. Dont smoke cigrate it will never take your stress away rather it will give your more stress on next day at the same time so you will smoke more..tobacco very dangorus leads to cancer and it is soo addictive... Stop smoking when your are in stress take a cold bath you feel relief❤

I remember buying these in the late 80’s in the UK, we didn’t even know that they were tobacco, they used to sell for 1 pound a pack from a hippy shop as they were called back then, in Portsmouth. We didn’t like them very much. I was about 14 at the time and they weren’t even sold as tobacco.

Look at that tobacco! How interesting. I'm used to seeing yhe brown color of American and South American tobaccos but check out the pink and green. And the packaging is really interesting also. I'm always impressed by how precise people get when they've done something probably hundreds of thousands of times. They roll the cigarettes so precisely and then package them in the paper so quickly, and then carton the paper packages so quickly. It's probably miserable work but still, I can't help but be really impressed by the combination of incredible speed AND reliable precision. It's really hard to do both simultaneously.

traditional cigarettes were rolled with rolling paper / unfiltered. these are beedi's not cigarettes. there are other things mixed in beedis besides tobacco and the leaf they roll it in is also not tobacco.

They're called "Tendu" Leaves. The Tendu Plant is native to India and Sri Lanka and these leaves give a beautiful flavour to our bidi's.

Back in 74 I was stationed down in the Delta of Bangladesh, their Beedies had more tobacco? and were larger, aromatic and quite enjoyable.

You should see the price of cigarettes in Australia. Try AU$40-50 per pack. Double the pack size so like 2 packs, but probably thousands of rupees.
