Awesome video, clear and concise. Been riding since 2017 and never needed to replace a battery on a bike until now. I love that you are activating the battery when you get it, thus its as fresh as possible...not sitting in a shelf for months.
Thanks, takes time to proper prep the battery . Here a battery seller (Bali, Indonesia) filled up(1 minute, piercing holes) and (over)charged with a car battery in 5 min only , new (made in China , brand Jaguar ?!)battery but bad cranking (not full capacity) ...Now I bought a Yuasa one(YTX 9-BS) and filled up and charged (with electronic trickle tender charger, max 2 Amps) myself. China battery 30$, Yuasa 40$, not much more than the china one.
I was trying to read the instructions that came with my new battery but the language was SO BAD that I ended up here. No problem now! I work with people from all around the globe and we struggle with language sometimes but this battery thing was BADDDD!!
I don’t have the alligator clips to hook up directly to the battery, but I do have it hardwired to my battery thru my motorcycle. Can I just install the battery and charge it through my bikes connection
As routine as this seemingly simple job is he should have plenty water ready at hand in case of mishap. Gloves and goggles on. Water ready in a clean squeezy bottle for flushing the eyes in case the worst happens. I've seen someone get Caustic Soda in one eye and it was instant agony and panic for him, immediately blinded in both eyes by tears and pain thrashing around looking for water. Happened as I walked in the room. He was lucky someone came in. Recommend to carry out this work on a steady, uncluttered bench or on the floor ideally in a basin to contain any spill. Also with PPE worn needs to carefully flush out the acid container with water before chuckin it. Juggling those live crocodiles in his hands? Could get a little spark and gas burn if not careful. Only energise charger after clips attached, positive on first and off last. Be safe or could be sorry forever. Just saying.
great video. speed and info was excellent. only critique is to wear eye protection cause you never know the yahoos out there who might mess themselves up.
Quick question... I sent my Ecu to be Flashed and im waiting to come back, I also order a brand new battery and just arrived todays, once I finish with the charge, can I leave it plugged to the battery tender for a few days until my ecu comes back? Or... should i unplug it and store the battery in a safe place until ready to use?
Yes you can but you will lose important capacity and long life of the battery. Possibly your battery will fail much sooner if you dont follow this proccedure exactly. In 12-15 months your battery would get weak if you rush, otherwise it could last 6 or 7 years following these instructions by letter.
Here making sure I didn't do anything wrong. Bought a new battery, filled it and it has 0.0 volts and obviously won't charge. It must just be a junk battery
No, you can buy the stuff online. Distilled water is what you use when it's going low and you don't have extra acid laying around so you top it off with distilled water. Can keep a battery going another year.
Yes, but not necessarily “fully” charged to the battery’s maximum capacity. A Battery Tender will “top off” a battery once your bike is parked. Your battery will last so much longer (potentially years longer) if faithfully kept on a battery tender. I’m a big fan of the name brand Battery Tender, they are the perfect tool for the job. Sometimes they can be found at Costco for a great price, or at the company that took the time to produce and share this video.
In all reality, this battery and acid combo is relatively failsafe. Unless you do something stupid like slapping the acid bottle or kicking the table the battery is on, the risk of splashing acid in your face or eyes is pretty low. Like non-existent almost. If you're accident prone, sure, get dressed right up, but for the amount of time handling the acid, and it's dilution state, it's incredibly unlikely you're going to get any in your eyes. Gloves would be smart though.
Exactly what i needsd in changing my first battery today. Much appreciated and helpful as im tired of paying people to do what i am capable of.
Me too !!!
i brought a new battery and this is exactly what i need to see and know Thank's
Pretty sure when you charge batteries positive side is attached first not negative or black.
Thanks so much guys, this 73 year old has lost some self confidence with such like DIY! Yours was a tremendous help.

This helped. At first thought I would have to poor one at a time but this is super easy. It’s great that it’s quick and almost idiot proof.

Thanks, I was a bit confused with the instructions. I thought it said let it sit at least an hour before charging but was 100% sure.
It does say 1 hour.
Thank you Bryan, things I didn't use last time I acid-packed: "Time and Patience" - - I'm getting a similar battery soon.
Peace in Christ. 🧑🏻JB

YTX-9 Yuasa don’t cost $40.00. They more like $85.00 for that battery. I just shopped around several places online and bought one.
@@busman7228 In Indonesia Yuasa have its own factory, cheaper here:), Now i just did buy a YTZ8V for $30..
What is the shelf life of an unfilled AGM battery?
Exactly what I needed to see and do.Thank you very much.👍
Doesn’t positive lead goes on first?
Yes it does and comes off last.

Do you have to charge the battery before putting it on the bike? What if you don't have a charger
It's recommended to charge the battery first. You can get a battery charger for 20 bucks.
I don’t have the alligator clips to hook up directly to the battery, but I do have it hardwired to my battery thru my motorcycle. Can I just install the battery and charge it through my bikes connection

Very clearly explained.

If you are using a battery tender you shouldnt have any issue leaving it as they will only MAINTAIN at a certain voltage
So if im in a rush , do i have to charge it or can i just chuck it on and start my bike up?
Yes you can but you will lose important capacity and long life of the battery.

I have Yuasa Ytz12s model and i don't see the way hot to opetn the top...it looks different than this model. Pls help
my new battery instruction manual said to charge it for 5-10 hrs before installing... i can just skip that step? THANKS!!!
Awesome explanation
Great information-Thanks
I forgot to let it sit for like 10mins after putting the acid in. Should I be worried
I put the cap in right after putting the acid in
I just did the same thing🤦🏼♂️
Any update?
@Rgh71fish how did it go?
Thank to buddy, excellent video
Great video

My battery didn't ship with the acid. Silly question, but you can't just add distilled water?
No, you can buy the stuff online. Distilled water is what you use when it's going low and you don't have extra acid laying around so you top it off with distilled water. Can keep a battery going another year.
Battery Acids Can Be Corrosive.
Does it have to be charged before using
You should be able to install and start the bike without charging
Just get a maintainer, you will need it anyway. You can get one for under $25.00

You really should just watch the Yuasa channel so you get the proper instructions. This guy apparently didn’t.
340👍
No gloves or safety glasses?
This guy doesn't seem too bright. No safety gloves no safety glasses. What kind of example is he setting? Come on JP cycles.
So you know what to do? Then why did you need to watch this at all?
