Libreoffice calc is so powerful. I had colleagues complain that they were not able to open certain files that are damaged, while calc has no problems with such things. Also a lot of configurations are available when reading CSV files, pasting special text, pasting columns from csv and the program recognizing the paste as CSV offering you to modify the translation to row column format, pure awesomeness. I've downloaded it because excel 30 day trial was over, but after what I've saw, I will never go back to excel, thank you M$ for opening my eyes by closing your own products.

Just testing onlyoffice so far i am very impressed. It can cross-sync from windows, android and ipad. Plus if i am using linux, it can also sync. It is free and ad-free. Documents are editable too. Unlike Microsoft asked us to pay 1st.

Probably would have been more appropriate for me to say "non-free format in control of Microsoft"

Libreoffice is far better, but this issue with things like themes is something that has always confused me. Lots of people have worked hard to create icons and themes for Linux distros. You would think this would have transferred over to Libreoffice.

LibreOffice and OnlyOffice have very different goals. LibreOffice wants to promote an offline program alternative to Microsoft Office and Apache's Open Document Format, which is why LibreOffice saves everything in different file formats. ODF is still leagues better than MS Office since it's consistent cross device, but its Office Doc support is inconsistent. OnlyOffice is incredibly committed to maintaining compatibility with Microsoft's format and working in the cloud/a browser first than as a local program. Depends on what you need.

I've used Libreoffice a few times and never had any issues with it. They both look nearly identical though to me. btw who uses their phone to made documents and spreadsheets? Because I certainly dont.

People do occasionally want to view/make quick edits to spreadsheets or Word documents on their phones.
