I'm glad someone addressed this. When I was little, I asked a nun if animals went to heaven. She said "No, because they don't have a soul." I didnt believe that they didn't have a soul. Being around animals a lot, it was obvious to me that they did indeed! Very good explanation. Thank you, Father.
Actually St Thomas of Aquinas eclipsed the Father of the Desert or even St Irenaeus. St Irenaeus has been disqualified for his millenarism eschatology but it also developped a cosmic restoration starting at the cross which should be rediscovered now he is Dr of the Church.
