    I love the old video quality of this footage. It's true to the time and the low fidelity of independent music programs. Here is Siouxsie is her iconic mystique that became widely emulated, and frankly, I'm star-struck again. I surely miss seeing her live.

    Siouxsie wrote 'Israel' after being seen wearing a swastika on a trip to France. The controlled media began a smear against her, and she wrote it as an answer to their unfounded accusations. Wearing swastikas and other agitative symbols were popular in the Punk era, popularized by her close friends The Sex Pistols.

    • @SoulStylistJukeBox
      @SoulStylistJukeBox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Well, to be quite honest, it was idiotic of her to include the line TOO MANY JEWS FOR MY LIKING in the song Love In A Void. So it wasn't just the swastikas that get her in trouble.

    • @SoulStylistJukeBox
      @SoulStylistJukeBox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes, most of us are aware that they re-recorded the song with an altered lyric once they were signed to Polydor. Are you implying that that somehow makes it better?

    • @whitewolf2185
      @whitewolf2185 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're going to make comments about such subjects , it might be a good idea to know what you're talking , (SHOUTING) about. Do you always group everyone, who isn't you, as something unpleasant you might find on the bottom of your shoe ? Hitler and his military elite were black magicians and reversed the Buddhist ZZ symbol to SS in order to steal its power. Then there's some stuff about us not knowing anything about anything and being negative , if we're from Europe. Do you not see how idiotic you sound ? The swastika is a symbol of Nazi germany and nothing to do with good luck.
      About Jesus.. you a big fan ? I expect you are , millions of people are, so could you answer a question about one of the most famous men in history for me, as you know more about him than I do , I'm sure , .. Where was he and what was he doing between the ages of say... 12 to 24. I'm seriously interested .. we hear of the infant Jesus, and that he trained as a carpenter but it seems to elude me as to where he was and what he did for many years of his life .

    • @whitewolf2185
      @whitewolf2185 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I asked the question ... where was he for so many years.. seems odd to me that one of the most famous and influential people in history has huge swathes of his life unaccounted for .. that was my question not anything else .. and i am not so stupid to believe he was white .. so please don't assume and answer my question please . I am European and like most people are still eager to know the where we come from and make no assumptions as we just don't really know yet but we're ( the human race ) are working towards finding such answers as that is the human condition to always want to look further and find the truth, as i hope most people would agree. if we weren't we wouldn't be the highly evolved beings we are that are still evolving .. still finding amazing discoveries and ultimately looking for the answer as to what we truly are which we will attain in time . I have my opinions and you have yours , as does everyone , and I'd like to know where you think Jesus was for the many years that are not accounted for ?

    • @whitewolf2185
      @whitewolf2185 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do apologise.. I thought by your self assured ranting that you actually had some sort of intelligence .. knowledge .. I was wrong .. you can't answer my question and instead of saying .. I don't know where he was or what he was doing for most of his life you continue to insinuate that I and everyone else who isn't you is a moron . Well you failed on a question that I was seriously asking as I think it's really interesting . Don't tell me what I believe agaian or tell me what a stupid person I am .. You do not know me and if you insult me again I will react .. and believe me you won't like it . I'll destroy your meaningless drivel and show you for what you are . So are you a man or a moron .. up to you now ?

    I couldn't agree more... Brilliant & shambolic, indeed. & it is a slightly different mix of Israel. Possibly, a pre-release recording that hadn't been mastered? (There's more reverb on Siouxsie's vocals, the whole things EQ'd differently & McGeogh's guitar in the break is definitely more prominent than on the version we're all familiar with). Thanks for sharing. :)

    Sue hated being called 'punk' especially all the gob shit famously lobbed at punk bands. Israel was their anti punk track and the ballad in any live set.
    Doing monitor or sin in my heart as final tracks live meant full body work out for the audience and John McGeoch added magic to the heady brew of riotous drum and bass tracks. Fucking awesome, I kid you not, led zeppelin were shit compared to this line up playing JUJU

    • @AReservoirDog
      @AReservoirDog ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Led Zeppelin are the most over-rated band of their class tbh, they made better music as the yardbirds imo. Them and the Rolling Stones were very quickly creatively bankrupt, and (d)evolved into horrible Arena Rock longhaired jukeboxes that played their old hits over and over with out ever taking another risk that made them popular in the first place. It was this horrible state of once rebellious music that prompted Siouxsie, and many other people of her generation to become the first punks in the 70s. Siouxsie and the Banshees are better than 99% of those old rock bands imo. Because they never became jukeboxes, or stuck with 'what worked' on the last record. They were always looking to create what they hadn't yet, and to not be known as a band that looked or sounded one way because they weren't interested in staying in one creative place for too long.

      Critics and punk purists always attack anything after "Metal Box", but i think "9", "Happy", and "that what is not" have all got some great music on them. and McGeoch added another dimension to their sound (songs like "Seattle" come to mind). i haven't checked out The Armory Show! i have always meant to check them out, but never did. now seems like a good time.
