    The perfect sleeper! All Oldsmobile powered! Those early 80's Cutlass hsd an unflattering nickname . . . . Gutless Supreme! Yes they had room and ride comfort and very lightweight body and chassis! But that's about it! Now with a 455 it has it all!

    My dad saw me smiling, asked me what it was, I turned it up and he said “455, needs a bit of a tune, I got one in the shop that needs rebuilt and 3 diesel blocks in the barn” this video started a very expensive hobby

    Update -The Intake gasket went bad and had a leak as a result it was creating lean conditions on the #1 cylinder - Also the Carb gasket decided to go bad as well and thus adding in additional performance loss! Will post a dyno update once this is resolved! I did replace the Stock GM distributor that I rebuilt and there was a MAJOR noticeable difference in performance, even with the vacuum leak on the intake manifold

    Not bashing lunati cams but I used this same cam in a 455 I rebuilt. I bored .030 over, edelbrock intake, and a q-jet carb. To be honest I liked the idle sound but it never made the power like it made on the factory cam it had before. It might be wonderful in a 350 but I think the 455 responds better to a longer duration then high lift. I was truly disappointed and I know the my 455 just didn't like that cam.

    Car Craft settled the debate with their Big-Block Showdown. They did builds of Buick, Chevy, Mopar, Ford, Olds, and Pontiac big blocks (yeah I know about Pontiac not making a true big block) using commonly available off-the-shelf performance parts.
    Buick was at the top of the heap and Oldsmobile was at the bottom. Not too bad considering that Buick 455s probably have the least amount of aftermarket support of all the engines compared.

      Dream on Olds fanboy. I’ve been around plenty of both and I never saw any impressive Oldsmobiles at the drag strip. I’ve seen plenty of fairly stock, heavy Buicks that ran 11s . Most comparably built Oldsmobiles were 2 seconds slower.

    my 403 makes 320 tq and 185 hp stock and you have what? That 455 engine should be making at least 300Hp and 450 LBS of TQ with all those go fast parts you have. still sic but the waste at the dyno shop. you should using 750 cfm to feed that 455!

    • @therealtech833
      @therealtech833 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's great about the 403 is if you can get the compression ratio at 9:1 or a little better, 300 horsepower is an easily attainable number. Get good flowing exhaust and intake, 400 to 500 horsepower is attainable. All this without even reinforcing the webbed mains. Because the motor can make this power without revving over 5500.
