Like, the rest of the song is legendary, and for GOOD REASON, but no one ever talks about the bridge, and it’s a crime! The bridge of this song was what made me decide to listen to this show, and I have not regretted that decision ONCE. This is probably THE most accurate representation of pure, unbridled panic in media, PERIOD.

What I like about this song is the happy tune the whole song is in. It's like it's his happy side, the side we saw first, but hidden in the lyrics is his true self where he's scared and filled with anxiety. If you just hear the instrumental version, you could skip all that, but you could only see his fears with this song. Makes you wonder who in the musical only hears the instrumental side of him.

Men are held to a different but equally unattainable standard in that they are expected to be strong, stoic, and never cry. Even admitting they feel negative emotions besides anger is looked down upon as unforgivable weakness. Michael would rather admit to doing drugs than admit that he was having a panic attack and crying because the only friend he had was abandoning him. That's really sad.
Theory: The "Knock Knock Knock" Part Isn't someone knocking, It's him with his anxiety. When he says "I don't hear knocking anymore", It's him feeling the anxiety coming down, than coming up again. That's just my theory.

It's sad to think that through out the musical, Michael didn't do anything to deserve this. according to Wikipedia, he was a great friend to Jeremy. he was Jeremy's best friend who asked him what was wrong when he saw him upset, told Jeremy that he always thought he was cool even before the squip and he even warned Jeremy of the consequences of a squip. Michael was an cool best friend to Jeremy, and I don't think he deserved to be called a loser, and abandoned by his best friend. Fun Fact: I had a panic attack at a party once and locked myself in the bathroom and then quietly hummed this. People really started knocking so it got worse and I ran outside of the building and then broke down crying.

It's sad to think that through out the musical, Michael didn't do anything to deserve this. according to Wikipedia, he was a great friend to Jeremy. he was Jeremy's best friend who asked him what was wrong when he saw him upset, told Jeremy that he always thought he was cool even before the squip and he even warned Jeremy of the consequences of a squip. Michael was an cool best friend to Jeremy, and I don't think he deserved to be called a loser, and abandoned by his best friend.

I had a panic attack at a party once and locked myself in the bathroom and then quietly hummed this.
People really started knocking so it got worse and I ran outside of the building and then broke down crying.
