I'm super impressed and awed in the accomplishment of this family and their friends. I think we should all come together and just be awesome. As far as history I think we should just teach what is history and leave it to every person to come to their own conclusion. The problem is history is taught with a bit of a spin no matter what the subject. Back to this amazing family though. This is a most excellent example of what a person can accomplish in our amazing country. Truly inspirational and an example to be followed.

My wife and I are strongly considering moving on a large parcel of land to start farming. Hearing this story is very inspiring to know that despite the racism, brothers like Ben Burkett overcame the odds. I'm glad I came across this video. I would have never heard of Ben Burkett. Thanks for sharing.

Just be prepared. Black farmers recently sued because they brought $100K grand in seeds to only find they were intentionally sold defective seeds. You have to be in it for yourself if it's your passion.

Beautiful story, and well presented; a man with a true soul of goodness. Through of what America did to us as a people, yet Still We Rise.
Peace and blessing to the Ben Burkett Family....makes me proud to be an African American. Keep the farm family and the legacy alive.

As members of the WGFC in Troup County and a small farmer in West Point, GA. I knew Mr. Ralph Paige and attend the same Hight School. I had chance to play golf with him in an Annual Golf Tournament in LaGrange. Alumni of MVSU 1975! This is still a focus for the small farmers today to continue our efforts to achieve debit relief and maintain Land Ownership. Thanks to Mr. Paige and Mr. Burkett, and to all the others for their efforts to get us where we are today. This is our story!

These are the documentaries that they should be teaching in every school no matter what color you are just as history but for the young kids today they all want to make quick money they don’t know the history they only know history when something happens to their own kind and go on television and talk about it but they don’t know history and as for myself I’m getting into the farming business I’m a black man and I know the difficulties at ahead of me but I’m in it for the long-haul because in the North East Pennsylvania area,I haven’t seen any black farmers but the point is to from the land and provide good crops put those out there in 50 years there’s going to be 10 billion people on earth where is that food going to come from you get all the money in the world you still have to eat the food has a come from the farm thanks a lotBen for the information and knowledge.

That we need to get back to owning land outside of aspiring to put a big house on it. We're almost nonexistent in agriculture. Nobody moves if you don't eat. The 2030 predictions aren't looking good. Our people better wake up.

@meredith Coleman McGee you are so right. We have to get back to our ancestral roots. I live in Gastonia NC. And everybody black talks about how their grandparents had land and gardens etc.. but none wanna even venture into what their ancestors did. Slavery has caused our people to look down on farming. Damn near everything the white man sells us was created by us. Just take our culture and sell it back to us. We do need to wake up fast.
